I'd like to feel that I am more intelligent than this and hope the majority of America are too. My hats off to Rebeca!!!”

“The verdict has been refered to as controversial. It wasn't controversial at all to anybody who followed the situation. The ruling by the court (and jury) was fully expected because of the facts - nothing else. Unless some person of a different race than Martin makes a statement such as the President made it will enflame the racial tensions. Use a little common sense Mr President!!!”

mrguit on Jul 19, 2013 at 16:45:04

“For a similar case google Roderick Scott / Chris Cervini. Roderick Scott was a black fellow in Greece NY, who approached 3 young men he thought may have been breaking into cars in his neighborhood. Roderick was a black man, Chris a 16 year old white young man. Roderick asked the boys to stop, that he had a gun, and he would hold the boys there as he had called the police, who were on their way. Chris as the story went charged Roderick. Roderick unloaded 2 rounds killing Chris. Like the Zimmerman / Trayvon case, Roderick was found innocent. The Roderick Scott / Chris Cervini case ended almost exactly like The George Zimmerman / Trayvon Martin case but did not receive the national attention. Interesting that in both cases the jury deliberated almost the same amount of hours (15-16). Like Trayvon's parents, Chris's parents stated their child was a great kid who never did anything to hurt anyone. If my son had been involved, shot and killed, I may have reacted the same way Trayvon's and Chris's parents did. Please to those interested google this case. It happened in 2009 in Greece, NY, a susburb of Rochester.”

“I recognize a beautiful and sexy girl as much as any other man (except possibly gays) however - most of us knew it a long time ago and others learned it later that any picture of yourself is very subject to be posted on the internet - especially today. My recommendation is to NEVER trust anyone enough to put yourself in a posible sutuation that could cause any embarassment - no matter how much you trust someone. Many ladies that have been called beautiful or sexy by others have a tendancy to believe it and want to share. A very stupid decision.”

“The entire "adventure" of the seal team vs Bin Laden should have been kept more under wraps than it was. Any member of the seal team who divulges any part of the raid is only seeking a little glory - a very childish thing - and prosecution should be considered. Those who were allowed to view it on TV in the white house should have been (and were) carefully selected and should have been sworn to complete silence. We have too many glory-hogs which does nothing but cause problems.”

“Age makes a big difference in what one perceives as "flirting that may lead to infidelity". As one gets more comfortable in a relationship with his wife or her with him an understanding of what is "dangerous" and what isn't changes tremendously. The affection between mates usually grows which causes the necessity to be "loved by others of the opposite sex" to diminish. I guess we each "grow up" sooner or later.”

“The entire Seal/Bin Laden episode was mishandled from the start. The mission should have been "under wraps" and anyone divulging any information about it should be prosecuted. The fact it was televised to a white house group is a little understandable but those in the group are questionable. There has been too much publicity about the episode already. It has grown into a political activity and should have never been mentioned to the public (or polititions) at all. I feel very sympathetic toward the Navy Seal mentioned in this article but perhaps it would have been less stressful and had different results with less exposure.”

“All any minimum wage does is TEMPORARILY make an employee feel good because of an increase in salary. It forces others to raise the prices they charge the public to pay for the increase in payroll. All minimum wages should be eliminated and employees pay should be reflective of what they do - not because some outside force makes their payroll amount. mandatory”

fredcdobbs715 on Dec 26, 2012 at 22:31:31

“Now that's something I've thought about too: Eliminate the minimum wage laws, cut everyone off from welfare and any other government help to the poor. Why, our economy would be booming in certain areas; such as gun and ammunition makers, the manufacturers of steel doors and barred windows for the average home; paid vigilantes to roam our streets; armored vehicles to drive through ghettos tossing half eaten corned beef sandwhiches out the window so the peasants can have something to eat now and then, Gun Lovers of America, Rejoice, the shootings and killings in this country would bring joy to the hearts of the brave. We wouldn't have to pay all those ornery taxes for police protecton; we'd be our own protectors and enjoying, with every shot, the 'Wild West'
atmosphere that so many of us long for.”

“When I was in school there was never a worry about "safe in school" - that went without saying. Unfortunately the principal, teachers, coaches, and even the parents (in many cases) do not use what authority they have to keep kids in line for fear of being sued. We are no longer the land of the free but the land of the sued. Something has to change people!!!”

ocenbrz on Nov 21, 2012 at 17:23:12

“Humphf! We had corporal punishment in school when I was a kid and I can hardly say I was ever "safe in school". That is just an illusion for most kids. The only ones who were really safer in school, probably more then at home, were the kids whose parents used their influence to make sure their kids were not being abused. At school at least. Mostly PTA members for the most part. Parents need to find the time to get involved in their kids education by the way.

This is why schools are so sued! Teachers who find yard duty a bore. Get tired of disciplining kids. Principals who become so friendly with teachers they keep allowing them to teach even when they know they are not either interested enough in education or unable to discipline a class of unruly students. It isn't an easy job and should not be given to people who it has been proven cannot teach. That is a big part of the problem.

This mother had to "sue" the school to get rid of a weak coach who allowed this abuse to happen and then was either too weak or too perverted to report or stop the crime from happening! It was the principal who didn't know what was going on under their roof, the teachers who knew of hazing but refused to get involved. I'd say if you really want to keep your job make your campus safe.”
