“Agreed. What people do with their pants down as consenting adults doesn't matter. What matters is when these people are HYPOCRITES and then want to LORD it over others with legislation based on their "religious" beliefs.
Would there BE any laws forbidding homosexuals serving in the military, were it not for "religion"?
We need common human decency and human morality to rule, not these ideas from the Bronze Age.”

“At least Catholics confess privately in a confessional booth, to one person.
The Baptists and other fundamentalists go to news conferences and broadcast networks to "confess". Then, they merely don't recite their list of transgressions......they EMOTE over them and cry out to Jaysus and make a circus spectacle of it all.
The private confessional spares the rest of us, this nonsense.”

“Looking at Revelations from a contemplative viewpoint, do you mean?
Maybe it is mysterious and confusing because John was isolated, living in a cave, superstitious and some researchers believe, may have eaten ergot, an hallucinogenic compound sometimes found in wheat.
Don't stress yourself too hard, trying to "understand" John's scribble.”

“why not test both simultaneously?
Also, my daughter was 100% breast fed, UBER healthy, having not even a sniffle, until her 18 month vaccination. After that, she developed flu like symptoms often, had colds, pneumonia at age 3, bronchitis with complications of asthma.
She is now 20 and having been raised on ALL ORGANIC FOOD and clean un-floridated water, I can happily say she is healthy. She will still get colds once in awhile, but no more than that.
I do also think, however that the theory of the chemical cocktail interfering with our endocrine systems is absolutely the case. Has anyone heard of the area of NYC which has a huge spike in breast cancer in women? The theory is that they all have expensive clothing which goes to the dry cleaners. The chemicals in their clothing then "bake" in their closets and when they wear them, the chemicals seep into their skin. Ditto for antiperspirant chemicals.
Mercury, dry cleaning chemicals, weed-killer, plastics in the microwave....I believe they are ALL culprits! We are mammals! We are not supposed to be swimming in this soup of chemicals all day everyday. No wonder we have health crisises.”

“I so agree with this post! A wife can still be pretty and have a bangin' body but if she is a pain in the a*#, a guy will find even a flirty, fun plain jane more attractive! It IS about how a person makes US feel. That is why we hook up with people in the FIRST place. It is never so much how we feel about them, it's about how we feel about ourselves when we're WITH them!
Additionally, the pressure that men are under to be providers, 50-50 partners with child-rearing, housework etc. can feel colossal, especially if the guy hates his job but can't quit because he is supporting a family. If the wife is b*%#h to boot, another woman who comes on sweet and no pressure can seem like Heaven on Earth.”

“He's trying all the angles to justify himself to himself. When you use the Christian bible to judge others, restrict others, dismiss and detest others, then when it's your turn in the hot seat, you've got to scramble to find passages in the bible which "excuse" you.
Oh, and they'll be there. The Bible is nothing if not, convoluted, contradictory, and let's not forget, batshit insane.”

“I love how this guy modestly compares himself to King David in the Bible.
Boy these Christian bible thumpers sure know how to use Script-sure. Sanford made sure he mentioned his wife being a good "Christian woman", to infer that if she were less "magnanimous" she'd wouldn't be. Way to turn the tables. It's up to her now to prover her Christian values. This guy is a piece of work.
Fact: Statistically it would appear that our society is a group of serial monogamists. Rarely does a couple stay married for an entire lifetime. The stats just don't bear that out. For people to get all huffy and outraged that someone is "cheating" is to deny reality. About 2/3 of married men admit to "cheating" on their wives. That would make it MORE than just the average behavior.
Lifetime commitments were reasonable when people had life spans to age 40-45 as in the days of the bible. (Unless you believe the hype of people living till age 900+, which for some reason, I don't.) Not saying that I don't wish to stay married with my husband of 21 years, but I am saying that were either one of us to "stray", I hope it would be a blip on the radar and be weighed against over twenty years of fun, deep friendship, great sex and profound love. I don't see the point in people throwing out an entire partnership over something, statistically normal.”

But, frankly, your idea of commitment doesn't work for me. I'm not sure I buy your statistical analysis either. Obviously marriage isn't one size fits all.”

He should resign because he was AWOL and lied to staffers and others regarding his whereabouts. He should resign because he is a sanctimonious hypocrite, NOT because he had an affair on his wife. Please.....he didn't MARRY us.....he married her. That is between them. The other behavior though, using public funds to conduct the affair, the MIA stuff, that matters.”

“Amen! It is so frustrating to see that the GOP still has a voice that is given credibility by the MSM. To see Cheney's current opinions actually elicited and given a platform on TV is nauseating. WHO CARES?? Why not give the airtime to credible people who really want to move the country in the NEW DIRECTION for which the majority voted?! Put people on TV who can demonstrate via facts and statistics how SINGLE PAYER HEALTHCARE is superior in all ways than healthcare provided by FOR PROFIT private corporations! Put people on TV who can demonstrate why 'DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL' is a losing proposition also for the Military and have constitutional lawyers explain why and how it is unconstitutional.
Etc. etc.!! In Your Face Ideas over and over again, just as the GOP has done for years on Faux News. Make it the Obama ideas and yes, as Maher says, Obama needs to be rock solid and once he's deliberated and made up his mind, BROADCAST it constantly to the American people and no wavering. Stand tough and don't budge an inch for these corporate lobbyists and make sure Congress doesn't either. How?? By informing Americans so well that they will not STAND for Congress to do anything BUT Single Payer, getting rid of DADT and the like. Make the Democrats as afraid of losing their "base" as the GOP has been of the Xtian right.”

“You are right J, that the Ocean gets short shrift when discussing "Saving the Planet". The whole Green movement tends to keep everyone focused on jungles, forests and endangered species therein.
I like the term you used relative to the Ocean "wallflower".....very evocative and so true!
This Summer at our school we will be discussing the Ocean and our attention will be on sea life. I am going to incorporate talking about our planet as a Blue Planet, like a blue marble....something kids can relate to, from now on.
