“A lot of it needs to be. The reduction really won't be a reduction in expenditures, just put where it's needed. No more overpayments to insurance companies, no more double testing, etc.

In one short sentence you managed to scare the pajeebers out of a lot of senior citizens. You never bothered to mention that the insurance companies are the ones with the "death panels" or that the public option might actually be a good thing for America.

“It's an absolute shame that the average person needs banks to do business.

They've done nothing for any of us. Yeah, once in a while you can get a break, but those are so few and far between that they don't even count.

It's only been maybe 35 years that banks were products of their own communities. There were no national banks. That is to say that banks couldn't even cross county lines to do business. They knew everybody in the community....there were no secrets. The bank held your mortgage, the bank held your business loans. The day that restrictions were lifted so that banks went across county lines was the day that the banking business began to rule every aspect of our monetary lives. It quickly went across state lines....then came CitiBank, Bank One, etc.

Very few people did any business with Wall Street...not ordinary people. We were too busy trying to get by in life. Raising our kids, building lives. Big companies did Wall Street....not us. Those fortunate enough to be able to purchase stocks, did it directly.

This country has turned into a mega corporation. No longer are any of us relevant.

What a sad time in history.”
