Obama On Iran: Diplomacy Is The Best Approach

Obama On Iran: Diplomacy Is The Best Approach

Commented Dec 9, 2013 at 16:48:32 in Politics

“Already Prez Obama seems to be backtracking on his diplomatic efforts and carrying water for "our special ally" with we supposedly have "unbreakable bonds"; rather than remaining silent he undermines his own position as usual. The Israelis would rather there be war (with the US as usual in the forefront) to continue the cover for their illegal colonization of The Occupied Territories cowardly accepted by the UN, Europe and especially that "special lap-dog" the US, manipulated to subversive extremes by The Lobby and treasonous influence on our sovereignty and politics! The world community needs to stand-up for International Law and UN resolutions all ignored by Israel who thumbs its nose at the world.

Iran has always declared no intention to obtain nuclear weapons unlike Israel. Iran has elected a leader that has begun serious negotiations and if given a chance and not forced to beg for their rights I believe will concede what is required - the problem is whatever he concedes seems to never be enough for Israel, its Lobby in the US, and Congressional sycophants. Allowing a foreign power to dictate or unduly influence US sovereignty and foreign policy is NOT acceptable!”

“"illegal colonization of The Occupied Territories."

Can you please give me your reference or facts to back up this claim.

I suspect that the Jews were actually settled in the area from as far back as about 3200 years ago when Joshua and Abraham roamed the area.

At least, that is what one would learn in College when studing the Middle East and what the historical accounts in Jerusalem and Nabulus state!”

““What Me Worry?” “Global warming” should should more aptly be termed "Global Tipping", an all-inclusive term.

The James Lovelock-Lynn Margulis “Gaia Hypothesis” has long been my belief (whether called that or not) – previously many, like Aldo Leopold and Rachel Carson, noted our dependence and need to protect Mother Earth and Her creatures or perish. The Gaia Hypothesis postulates Earth is essentially a vast interactive mechanism of natural systems supporting life on Earth, keeping them in balance; weather, ocean currents and salinity, air currents, climate and temperature, oxygen-water-carbon cycles, storms, evolution, everything - Gaia is seen as a “living” entity on which humans may exist, but only in harmony. Humans have ignored the basic principles and now the piper must be paid.

The natural mechanisms allowing life on Earth degenerate to a critical point, the cascade of consequences accelerates and gains momentum, and all the interactive, inter-dependent, systems of Earth-Gaia begin to crumble. Fossil-fuel burning’s consequences, numerous species "mysteriously" become "sick", disoriented, die-off, diminish and eventually extinct, chemical industrialized-agriculture poisons land, water, and critical pollinators, military activity disorients marine-species, weather patterns shift to deadly effect, Earth's ocean and air-currents begin to change, the Amazon Basin Eco-System, THE global weather-generating engine, stable for millenia, is exploited, cut-down and burned - these and other man-made acts have "tipped" the critical balance that makes life on Earth possible and sustainable, gaining destructive momentum......given Man’s blindness, greed for power and money, it will not be possible to stop the man-made gathering momentum..…..”

“Part of the problem is that most people always lived in cities, far from the natural world; they never watched the seasons change, watched wildlife migrations and patterns, dug their bare feet into the earth and grow things; most never grew-up loving the woods, rivers and oceans, swamps, frogs, bats, bees, birds and the multitude of wildlife; never drove on frozen lakes that hardly allow ice-fishing today - there is a basic increasing disconnect from Mother Earth by city-dwellers, concerned primarily with finances, week-long vacations, the celebrity scandal of the moment, TV series, and the scourge of technological fluff.”

MatthewHahn on Dec 4, 2013 at 10:14:04

“...and yet the irony is that city dwellers live (per capita) the most sustainable lifestyle of anyone. They drive less and use more mass transit, they live in smaller spaces and therefore use less energy and create less trash, their water and sewer systems are more efficient and clean, etc.”

dcreader2 on Dec 4, 2013 at 10:05:30

“Actually, I think it was in the 1990s that we passed the point where more than 50% of the world's population lived in cities. Of course, the non-industrialized countries were later to that milestone than the industrialized ones.”

“This consequence along with countless others destructive to our planet and civilization is due to the entire mechanism of wealth and the greed driving it; always more and more wealth and power, and I'm not talking about the "development" of humankind, but the concentration of vast wealth and the ability of those few, the 1%, to control what directions we take, regardless of consequences, either to humans, Mother Earths natural systems and all Her priceless species of which we are only one (the Web of Life) and what is regulated by government or not - deadly or not, self-destructive or not. Fossil fuels, chemical poisons, nuclear pollution, countless species at-risk or on the edge, suppression of new non-destructive technologies, subversion of regulation, open theft by powerful institutions and corrupted governments - anything that actually serves the common good rather than greed-driven self interest is suppressed, bought-up, or corrupted to the accumulation of more "wealth" rather than a sustainable common future......and little will change because the wealth controls the direction without an honest tribunal. It can all come crashing-down in a moment, and still we squabble and argue because wealth has become everything, and the cacophony and diversions of media transfixes us to inaction………”

“BRAVO to President Mujica, a leader of vision and courage, a person who isn't cannabinoid-deficient or corrupt as most of our bought-and-paid-for politicians and so-called leaders.

There are many organizations, corporations, governments and outlaw killers that profit hugely from the failed WOD, especially on cannabis/marijuana at the expense of millions of victims. It is especially criminal that these anti-marijuana (and industrial hemp) laws are used as excuse to increase police funding and personnel, as well as fill for-profit prisons with non-violent victims - "law-enforcement" wants a steady supply of "perps" to use as a class of people who can easily be harassed and arrested to further careers of cops - the victims also face loss of jobs, families, homes and money in the scam. Add to this already criminal enterprize the increasing militarization of local cops and SWAT teams busting-down doors in the middle of the night that often result in people and family pets/dogs being killed.

The time for OUR leaders, if we have any, to also stand-up for an end to repression and abuses of anti-marijuana laws is NOW! The real crime IS The Prohibition and victimization of millions, NOT the herb!

Unfortunately our "leaders" are part of the scam and invested in the War on Cannabis/marijuana/hemp and they will not do the right and JUST thing - witness the hypocrite now in charge.......

“The truth is the WOD, especially marijuana/cannabis, is maintained for a few to profit handsomely at the expense of millions. "Law enforcement" has enhanced their funding, personnel, toys and influence using drug "perps" as fodder, along with the for-profit prison "industry"; the pharmaceutical industry profits by billions/trillions pushing dangerous "legal" drugs keeping cannabis illegal, along with other big industry players that don't want Industrial Hemp legalized.

Our government works for the people that profit from the WOD, hiring "Drug Czars" and other liars, and don't give a rats butt about the millions victimized or killed in militarized SWAT "raids"!

Native cultures in are sprayed with herbicide poisons to "eradicate" cannabis, poppy's, and coca, and para-military police are funded to enforce US dictates. Our own DEA wastes millions "eradicating" feral hemp in the Midwest.

Shouldn't we use the wasted billions/trillions and untold resources for civilian priorities and programs instead of funding those who make billions/trillions from the abuse and maltreatment of others?”

andyriveria on Dec 1, 2013 at 14:59:37

“big pharm could care less if pot was legalized. if they find some drug in marijuana that is therapeutic big pharm would make millions with a synthesized version that doesnt get you high.

nobody cares about industrial hemp. name one product that is cheaper and/or better made with industrial hemp.

both are myths spread by the drug cartels so nobody looks how they buy the politicians and pay off cops and the dea to keep drugs illegal.”

“ONLY a knowledgeable citizenry can make accurate choices. Our Fourth Estate, the press, was and is critical to making choices based on being fully and truthfully informed, rather than fed misinformation, disinformation, propaganda or outright lies; its no wonder we're "divided".

The case of Iran is one such; we've been fed a steady diet of intentional misinformation and most Americans have no or little factual basis to make a fully informed choice; they hate or distrust with only the weasel words of a few to consider, almost never the complete story. The subversion or outright purchase of our free press has been going-on for decades and now reached critical proportions - a nation fed lies, pap and scandal instead of hard facts and honest history, so we are now crippled and easily manipulated to desired beliefs - the agenda’s of others who profit handsomely from our ignorance. I guess they believe we can't handle the truth........”

Otherwise, you are doomed to a routine traverse, the kind known to yachtsmen who play with their boats at sea... "cruising" it is called.
