“Let's see the images we see in media such as an evolved man has very feminine qualities and might consider kissing his best friend and likes to cry and be held. Male models that look like girls without makeup and female models that look like teenage boys. One of the most played out visual is the 5'5" 120lb girl opening up a can of major whoop a on a 6'2 250lb muscular guy whof ight as if he is parially paralyzed. The fact that women are the majority sex on the planet. After 20+ years of these same images, over and over I can see why men seem more feminine.”

George Carlin: The Last Words of America's Greatest Comedian

Commented Nov 16, 2009 at 12:36:41 in Comedy

“You can't even remotely make a valid argument anyone is the world's greatest comedian. If you pan a Carlin audience, you'll see very few people of color at his shows, as it's unlikely you will see a majority of white people at a Chris Rock show. Comedy is funny when it is relatable, but that doesn't mean that people from different races or ethnicities view humor the same way.”

FarOutFish replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 16:26:10

“Wrong!!! I loved Richard Prior and his humor just as much as I loved Carlin. I may be 'white' however Prior's insight, characterizations, and wit make him one of my top three, all equal in my mind as the best of the best of my lifetime. His comment "Justice means Just Us" rose above humor to a deep and true judgment of our society. Prior, Carlin and Bruce were the Twain and Will Rogers of my generation. Skin color is irrelevant, we all are pink on the inside and go back far enough in our lineage, we all came from Africa. The fact is Genetics tell us every person on this planet can trace their heritage to seven African women. Judge people, not by the color of their skin, but by the morality of their actions.”

KillgoreTrout43 replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 13:28:26

“Carlin's humor was very rarely racial. His comedy was universal.”

Meet the HuffPost Game Changers: 100 People Who Are Using New Media to Change the World

“This is very consistent with HP. What's really embarrassing though is in Hollywood in the year 2009, there are hardly any people of color in movie trailers, new tv shows and in print. Even though we have an AA President, Hollywood seems to be getting even whiter.

It's not just the casting directors and producers, you have to ask writers why an overwhelming amount of roles are written for white characters. Seems to me that writers especially would try to be a little more creative than just whites as their main and supporting characters.”

“It's amazing to me that the pundits that are people of color of the conservative right who go on these talk shows pretend they are never offended by these types of comments and try to spin it that Liberals are taking out of context what they meant.

Isn't it amazing that there is no outrage really about these comments, but when Sen. Obama said "lipstick on a pig", even Geraldine Ferraro in her feeble non-important factor of herself went on the Today Show to try to disparage Obama. That's when Rachel Maddow , sitting next to Ferraro, shot her down saying it was a stretch to link sexist views by Obama to HRC. After that interview we didn't hear much more from Ferraro and accusations of Obama being sexist.”

Leslie Van Houten: A Friendship, Part 1 of 5

Commented Aug 03, 2009 at 18:57:35 in Home

“Thank you for your words but you don't need to apologize for the evil that we human beings are capable. Sometimes I don't even think when people do things like Van Houten and what I endured is even evil. It's something that is perverse and really evil is too mild a label to put on it.

The punishment is life. I don't believe in the death penalty and especially killing people in the name of God or Allah. That's not for us to do or even take part in if you believe their is a spiritual consequence to such actions. What is to become of those people will happen if there is an after-life. At least on this plane or existence of being, having the privilege of your freedoms taken away for the remainder of your natural life for committing murder is completely fair regardless how much atonement the perpertrator performs.”

Leslie Van Houten: A Friendship, Part 1 of 5

Commented Aug 03, 2009 at 14:29:53 in Home

“Jon Waters you are way off with this argument. There is absolutely NO proof that anyone who was involved with Manson was brain washed. Doesn't matter the age of the crime, they are being held accountable. Sorry, they're still alive and no I wouldn't like your friend.

I find your arguments highly offensive being a family member of someone else who was brutally murdered. The murderers found my email and sent me the video of them doing it. ZERO compassion from me and it's not for me to determine their fates in the after-life if there is one.”

maribelle1963 replied on Aug 03, 2009 at 15:07:59

“"The murderers found my email and sent me the video of them doing it."

Oh my god. My sincerest apologies for you having gone through that horror.

However, this is one reason why you would not be picked for a jury in a similar murder; because your experience has affected you so deeply you can never be objective; few (if any) of us ever could be after what you went through.

Ms. Van Houten, however, has done the OPPOSITE of taunting her victims' families--in fact, she's apologized to them. She has done everything possible to prove she rehabilitated, and even lived on her own for six months during her later trial, and worked quietly as a secretary.

If anyone has been rehabilitated after committing a horrific murder, it's her. It's been 40 years. Time to let go.”

“I think people should pay attention to the things the Republicans are saying about racial identity. Unfortunately, come election time, none of this will matter. What we'll here is about a politician who cheated on his wife, a closeted politician or a politician who used the "N" word in a back handed comment.

All this stuff that should add up sadly won't even be part of the dialogues when actual elections come along. Republicans win elections by obfuscating facts with rhetorical hyperbole which plays to one of the lowest common denominators.”

“Earl, I think it's somewhat of a presupposition she answered the question honestly. I find it most odd how quickly she and far right conservative groups have aligned themselves with one another. Whether she made the statement is highly suspect because after the controversy she was on Hannity and said "My dad and I watch you every night." Whether she was going to speak about gay marriage or not may or may not have been her plan. It's not a stretch to think she was going to use her platform to promote conservative right wing ideals, which is extremely calculated.”

“Sarah Palin's decision to attend a dinner that has nothing to do with her state, but is a good photo op for her his pretty self serving. Convenient timing on her part to not be in the state knowing her AG appointment was probably not going to get approved. She's not quite as brainless as she portrays herself...the emphasis is not quite.”

ASU Says "We Blew It," Alumni Rescind Donations

Commented Apr 15, 2009 at 13:25:24 in Politics

“This is a self inflicted wound on ASU and their position to say the first African American president has not yet made significant contributions based on his body of work is absurd. I am fully convinced that some of John McCain supporters are the ones really behind this and now it's blown up in their face including disappointing and embarrassing the student body and alumni.

The ASU president has made a major mistake defending their decision of not awarding the honorary degree to President Obama based on an intellectual contrary argument which is highly inconsistent with their past actions. ASU's board should take a serious look at how this debacle unfolded and also decide if Mr. Crow is working in the best interest of the university including his handling of such a highly visible issue and how the university has been negatively perceived while angering some major donors.”

“Their reasoning is highly inconsistent with giving past recipients that have received an honorary degree. Arianna Discusses Michelle Obama's "Fantastic" Style On CBS' "Washington Unplugged"

Commented Apr 03, 2009 at 17:15:28 in Style

“Women in the media are their own worst enemies and total hypocrites when discussing women in powerful position. The only news coverage I have seen about Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni has been superficial about only about their clothes. Courtney Hazlett on MSNBC said Michelle Obama's clothes were just as important as the message she was conveying. Of these two first ladies, one is a Harvard grad and attorney, but the only coverage she gets is about her clothes.

Female journalists shouldn't complain about women not being treated equally as men and breaking the proverbial glass ceilings when you have this unique opportunity in our lives to really celebrate women of substance. Without exaggeration, every female television anchor that has covered the G-20 have focused primarily on Michelle Obama's clothes.”
