“"Because membership in a church is an outgrowth of accepting the lordship and leadership of Jesus in one's life, someone unwilling to repent their homosexual lifestyle would not be accepted as a member at Saddleback Church---- this does not mean you cant attend church, we hope you do! God's word has the power to change our lives" RICK WARRENS website which has no been taken down do the heat.”

“Do you want to attend Rick Warrens church? Why give a gnats ....?

This election was a victorious repudiation of Conservative Evangelical right-wing extremist philosophy.

It was WE who sent THEM a message loud and clear.

Divisive extremism and hate mongering, is wrong no matter which side of the political isle, or the religion, it comes from.”

“How oddly similar becoming a member of his church is to me entering a gay bar as a straight female. Before you enter you know you're different and everybody will judge you. The big difference is that at the gay bar I am completely accepted, loved, get to have fabulous cocktails, and dance all night long without fear of being hit on by desperate, lonely, straight men. Plus I get a cute little stamp on my left wrist to remind me of the fun I had the night before! Please! Organized religion is so 80's. Get real! If you seek love, universal truth, and acceptance for all that you are, go to a gay bar! You'll walk away exhausted reminded that the world is actually a loving and caring place.”

“Repent? Repent for what? I'm a happy, productive and well liked gay guy and my family loves me. I don't need your version of religious bigotry to make me complete. Why not tend to your own flock and let us tend to ours. In other words ..... Mind your own business. I don't ask for or need your oppinion of my private life.”

“Even more troubling is the fact that these fools will show up with their signs and stand on street corners here in So Cal and spend hours and there are hundreds of them...... but these same people cant be bothered to stand up against the unnecessary deaths in Iraq or elsewhere or the corruption their party engages in regularly. These people have zero integrity and cling on to anything that is fear based. The masses being lead to the slaughter house..... no single thought of their own.”

“Religion is a deeply personal matter but inherently there is nothing wrong with having religious or spiritual beliefs irrespective of what they may be. The problem is when any beliefs, religious, political, social, or whatever are carried to extreme. Many people need faith and religion for various reasons and I'd hate to see that need denied. Today, as in the past, well meaning and or unscrupulous leaders, usually men, use faith as a means for gaining power and wealth, and, for controlling the ignorant and weak willed; the most unscrupulous leaders often provoke extremism. The best counter to religious extremism is education and this is why so many religious leaders pan public education in favor of home schooling or religious schools. The last thing these leaders want are an educated 'flock' capable of and willing to think for themselves. What we need is the elimination of home schooling as some half baked equivalent to compulsory schooling; and, for goodness sake, we shouldn't approve the use of vouchers or make tuition at private church-maintained schools tax deductible even if curriculum meets state standards.”

Alaskan4alaska replied on Oct 25, 2008 at 18:17:40

“That is really wrongheaded. Just as intolerant as the doofus with the sign. We need to enforce the seperation of church and State. Then we need to educate people as to why this is a desperately important part of being an American”

“What a bunch of crap. Why not focus some of that hateful energy on doing something good for the world like GETTING ALONG. The problem with this world is the ridiculous religious crap and their so called views/takes on their piece of fiction they call the bible. Too bad most of their conservative republicans are closet cases.

Get a life people. The gays are NOT the root of your troubles. The religious right is.”
