Rick Perry, Texas Governor, Will Not Seek Reelection In 2014

Rick Perry, Texas Governor, Will Not Seek Reelection In 2014

Commented Jul 9, 2013 at 08:55:43 in Politics

“What alternate universe do you live in? Good for Texas? Denying women health care, refusing federal money that would create medical jobs and provide insurance for millions of Texans, extreme cuts to public education, costing taxpayers $2 million in security costs for a failed presidential run, creating failing tech companies that only rewarded his cronies, creating low wage jobs that put more people close to the poverty level. He's finally done something we can thank him for - decide not to run again!”

semperfitexan on Jul 9, 2013 at 15:38:40

“What is the name of the woman who was denied health care ? I can help her . All Federal money comes with strings attached , maybe the free money is not worth the price . In 2011 The Republic of Texas created more jobs than the other 49 States combined .
If you have no skills , high school drop-out and a dope fiend you will never have more than a low paying job ,no matter where you live . Anyone with a useable skill ,a tradesman or professional you will make a good living in Texas ,same as any other State .
Extreme cuts to education ? One of our high schools just built a new 40,000 seat sports arena . Seems they have plenty of money . We just passed a bond election to build a new school . Sounds like you blame Perry for your personal woes . Man-up ,stop whining learn to succeed regardless of who the Governor is .”

“There are currently efforts in Congress (H.J.Res. 47 and S.J. Res 39) to remove the deadline for ratification of the ERA so that the amendment can get the 3 remaining states required for the ERA to become a part of the constitution. See thomas.gov and sign petitions on Signon.org to remove the deadline.”

“Exactly! The Newsroom may be a fairy tale but it can inspire us to DEMAND the news coverage of Cronkite and Murrow that truly informed Americans. Instead of passive wishing, let's start taking action, occupying the media, writing the FCC, the corporate networks, and voting for legislators who will support taxpayers in "taking back the airwaves."”

The Supreme Court: Just Politics by Other Means?

Commented Jun 27, 2012 at 09:08:53 in Politics

“Where is the Court's concern about "sovereign states" in Knox v. SEIU, as they strip states of their power to make decisions about limiting money in state/local elections? And where is the protection of union rights v. corporations' rights? The bias is obvious as the Court's majority ignores precedent and demonstrates extreme activism in pursuit of their own ideology.”

Commented May 2, 2012 at 10:12:36 in TV

“I agree, Jesse was the most likely to win it for Christina's team, but she repeatedly saved Lindsey, who is no vocal match for Jesse, Ashley or Chris. She made the show Who's my BFF? instead of The Voice. And why does she feel the need to dis Tony Luca?”

Mchris1947 on May 6, 2012 at 13:26:02

“Christina has been trying to assert her will in the direction of the show all season. Not only has she trimmed hervteam based on her desires rather than based on popularity (Jessie), but she tries to actively cut down her competition from the other teams. The other judges praise all the contestants after every song, while she makes it a point to try and get revenge on Tony for some wrong he committed when they were teenagers.”
