Will The Unemployment Disaster Be Obama's Katrina?

Will The Unemployment Disaster Be Obama's Katrina?

“Amazing isn't it! If that is what you believe, I would think that it would anger you also. To let the economy and jobs languish for no good reason other than to hold back the stim money just so it will (maybe?) make things LOOK better next year. Afterall - who can forget PBO saying last month that SB's create/retain 65% (more like 75-80%) of the jobs in the US. Did he just come to that realisation or did he also know it last Feb.? and decided that nothing will be done for SB's till now?”

“blico,

So you think the answer is to elect a bunch of right wing Republican's in 2010? The very same people who caused most of this.

There is no evidence that this is what they are really doing. They has reasons to make the stimulus a teo year program. Remember, the stimulus money did not start going out until June.”

“That exposure sent volumes of hate across the country. Of the 540,000 complaints would you mind providing the links to backup that they were sent by us wingers?”

Eris23 replied on Aug 19, 2009 at 11:26:28

“Sure thing, kid. The loudest mouths behind it, who were able to claim 65,000 of the complaints through their own webpage, was the Parents Television Council. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parents_Television_Council

If you'd like to read up more about the specifics surrounding this silliness, it's in a brief digestable format at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXXVIII_halftime_show_controversy

Just so you understand, out of all the complaints generated, assuming everyone of them came from a viewer of the Super Bowl, it composed 0.34% of the 140+ million who watched. It composed 0.17% of the total US population. In other words, the FCC had no legitimate grounds to honor your complaints and the 3rd circuit court of appeals eventually agreed. Notice that there hasn't been a move to use the government against Beck for his speech. But, you right-wingers have an ugly history of using the government to suppress speech. A "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" approach is not going to work for you here. It'll just make you that much more transparent to those who aren't extremists. :)”

Here's How You Can Strike Back Against Right-Wing Cable, Radio

Commented Aug 19, 2009 at 05:51:13 in Media

“Not just Fox Graham! They can all do it if they chose to.
During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akre’s claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so. After the appeal verdict WTVT general manager Bob Linger commented, “It’s vindication for WTVT, and we’re very pleased… It’s the case we’ve been making for two years. She never had a legal claim. You can reead the whole story here.

Brings to mind Dan Rather and his "Bush Awol" documents. Dan is still well respected by many in this country.
Also brings to mind Michael Isikoff (Newsweek)and his sensationaly bogus story about Quarans being flushed down toilets at Gitmo. If you remember - the muslims errupted and there were riots everywhere and people were actually hurt and killed. He is still well respected and makes many apearances on MSNBC.”

“Glad to help out with that, blico: ------------------------------------------------------- CNN Headline News' Glenn Beck

On the June 8 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck stated emphatically that Coulter was "right" about the "9-11 wives." Beck agreed with Coulter that "[j]ust because you lost somebody in a tragedy doesn't mean that you get a free pass for the rest of your life." Beck also stated: "I like Ann Coulter," and said he did not "have a problem" with her characterization of some 9-11 widows as "the witches of East Brunswick [N.J.]." But he said he had "a real problem" with her assertion that those widows were "enjoying the death of their spouse" -- a comment he dubbed a rhetorical "hand grenade." - Link to the article here (scroll down to middle of page): http://mediamatters.org/research/200606080009 ..there ya go (and you're welcome)..! ;) ...”

Then we can get into the numerous lies he told to his doctors, the lies he told about his maid's involvement when he tried to throw her under the bus....well actually, there are about 1000 lies in this story, do you care me to list them all?”
