“Yes, that principal. But mortgagees are still required to pay on THAT principal. Trust me. I have three mortgages and we are in the process of trying to negotiate a short sale on the one we were told was worth $180,000 eight years ago. After putting way more than $60,000 into it (new kitchen, finished basement, exterior renovations, etc.) , we just received an offer of, ta DA: $172,000. Principal, my behind.”
