Philadelphia Police Officer Accused Of Running Unauthorized Criminal Background Check On Obama

“Right. The cop was playing childish games on his office computer while at work. NBD Beyond that, of course, are all those duties he has sworn to protect, which form the basis of his employment, and which authorize his use of State Power, a technical term for which is Police Power, and entitles their use of lawful violence. We should respect them at all times and in all places and conditions. They can arrest you in your house if you aren't nice to them, and they can do it with impunity. They might even get the reward of a beer with the President”

And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea" The bit about brotherhood should be enough for them to shout "socialism" and thereby show their true colors. Limbah is betting he can't be arrested for inciting a riot, but I'm here to tell you he can be. Let's sing him down instead. Jerk is just on a dry drunk from all the KY heroin.”

“Jeff, I think you're wrong. The offensive being mounted by the wingnuts is simply unprecedented, We assumed better things than the effects of hate-mongers. Now that their intentions have been made known, I think a massive backlash is in store. Hopefully it will be peaceful, and I'm sure that's the preference. It kind of depends on the threats and etc made.”

“I really hope you're right; I pray to the Goddess every night for our President and everyone who truly cares for this country, and I hope. You're. Right. I do know one thing ... I will never stay silent. Nothing the hate-mongers say or do will ever keep me from speaking up for America.

“"Diane, from Oregon" doesn't have a clue. She's just reading a script -- notice that there are no pauses in her diatribe. This whole position is a contrivance being put on through the voices of uneducated people who, having no sense of history either, are easily duped into calling the kettle black. The far right has redefined many words for them to allow their arguments to even be made. This stupid thuggery is not part of the American way.”

“Seems right to me. Let's add a little good old competition to the system. Something wrong with competition? How come, if a bunch of suits can get together to make a profit, we 'real people' can't do the samething and keep the profit for ourselves? What's the big deal? How else might we all do that except through our government, and isn't that spozed to be us anyway? Who's talking out of their what?”

“Public, not for-profit, universal health care should be accounted on our nation's books as an asset rather than as a liability. (Why would that unfairly effect people who prefer to opt out on their own? snicker). Isn't good public health an asset? We don't know how to count something? Do we want to impose the bail-out burden and the cost of these wars on a sickly (and under-educated) generation(s) of taxpayers? What are our national priorities anyway? What do we value, ezzakly? Who, ezzakly, defined the things we've declared 'values', valuables? There's no syntax error!
The cost estimate doesn't include the offsets of premiums paid to insurance companies? How come the "conservatives" don't conceptualize medical people the way they do teachers -- underpay them so only the most dedicated, etc., thereby raising the quality of teachers as a whole. By the way, how come a school building is an asset, but teacher pay is a liability -- how come teachers are worth the opposite of the building they teach in?”

“I'm disheartened by the compromising, watering down, and failure to respond to the disinformation being freely floated in ads opposing the plan. Bill Moyers' recent interview evoked a polite debunking of these matters, but it should reappear as red meat. We have both the worst health and the most expensive health care among western industrialized nations, and so far as I can tell, none of the costs estimates for implementation reflect the offset arising from the redirection of insurance premiums to taxes. Health insurance should not be required of employers. The cost should be borne by all of us for all of us. Private profit should not be permitted in the area of public health. That system is what has failed!”

“All that this shows is that corruption is so rampant in Illinois that nobody can avoid the temptation to dip their cup in the stream. The resulting "hidden tax" forms an onerous burden. I won't bother anyone with the basis for this observation, because everyone knows it. The only answer is for the "insure a republican form of government" clause in the Consitution to be evoked, and a massive, across the board clean up to be imposed. The problem will be the need for grants of immunity and that those decisions are inherently political, but Fitz, Republican though he is, would seem to be someone who could do that. I doubt Obama, as a relative new-comer, is involved in this. But the extent is otherwise endemic since before the Daleys were ever a glint in grandpa's eye.”
McCain Sex-Ed Ad Launched; Obama Camp: "Perverse"

“I noted one of the pundits stating rather smugly that they believed the ad was "factually correct". I thought we had settled that rape was not sex, and by implication, child molestation as well. What I mean is that this blonde female pundit in her smugness was touting child molesting as sex. She, and others making this claim about a child protective law should have their faces rubbed in it, but it apparently left more reasonable voices so agog as to be speechless. Come on Candy -- get with it!”
Levi Johnston's Mom On Bristol Palin Pregnancy: "This Is Just A Bonus"

“Wow. So many people being labelled liberal or democrat because they express concerns of various sorts about Palin.
I thought it was well-settled that Palin's nomination arose from a dispute between McCain and Karl Rove over naming Lieberman or Romney, such that the criticism/opposition was born within the republican hierarchy itself.
The same for the admission that the pregnancy issue is just a smoke screen. What we're seeing is cynicism devouring it's children.
Maybe focus will return to substantive issues. Maybe all the republicans want is sound and fury signifying nothing, so that partisan emotionalism takes over for the paucity of common sense.”

This whole "outflanking" move in naming Palin is going to explode like a terrorists bomb. We should be observing how "likeable" Mrs. Palin seems. We'll look kind, gentle and understanding (which we are) compared to what the r's are going to do.
