How come the "conservatives" don't conceptualize medical people the way they do teachers -- underpay them so only the most dedicated, etc., thereby raising the quality of teachers as a whole. By the way, how come a school building is an asset, but teacher pay is a liability -- how come teachers are worth the opposite of the building they teach in?”

We have both the worst health and the most expensive health care among western industrialized nations, and so far as I can tell, none of the costs estimates for implementation reflect the offset arising from the redirection of insurance premiums to taxes. Health insurance should not be required of employers. The cost should be borne by all of us for all of us. Private profit should not be permitted in the area of public health. That system is what has failed!”

I thought it was well-settled that Palin's nomination arose from a dispute between McCain and Karl Rove over naming Lieberman or Romney, such that the criticism/­opposition was born within the republican hierarchy itself.
The same for the admission that the pregnancy issue is just a smoke screen. What we're seeing is cynicism devouring it's children.
Maybe focus will return to substantive issues. Maybe all the republicans want is sound and fury signifying nothing, so that partisan emotionalism takes over for the paucity of common sense.”

This whole "outflanking" move in naming Palin is going to explode like a terrorists bomb. We should be observing how "likeable" Mrs. Palin seems. We'll look kind, gentle and understanding (which we are) compared to what the r's are going to do.
