“I care deeply about my country. I have been around for a long time and I still have hope for the future. I will not give up. I have to admit, this is taking a toll on me but I will not give up as long as I am watching the Democrats working as hard as they are with not one ounce of help from the Republican party. I wish there was some way to get progressives to focus just a little of their anger on that. This health care reform bill could have been incredible if the GOP had not vowed to make it President Obama's "Waterloo.' I have to go, I have reached the end of my rope for today.”

“America always does the right thing - when it has tried every other way first.

Hang in there.

United, the democrats can achieve a lot - divided, the republicans take the country backwards.

Take it easy.

VP”

independentcon replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 15:24:00

“Umm, that's how politics works in a democratic system...the opposition party typically OPPOSES the agenda of those in power. All this talk of some missing bipartisanship is ludicrous; it's just a talking point that each party uses to point an accusatory finger at the other!”

stillbarbi replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 15:21:08

“You are so right. The Republicans are not helping to govern. All they are doing is obstructing, hoping to win back seats in 2010. How I detest them!”

PATina replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 15:20:47

“You really think having the Republicans involved would have made this bill "incredible"?”

“Yes the insurance companies get new customers but you are ignoring the fact that many people will get health care that could not get it before. Your hatred for the insurance industry is understandable to a point but do not ignore the fact that the customers get something good too.”

Patriot86 replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 15:05:08

“If it is so good why not start it now? What are Dems going to run on...and the GOP can kill this bill before it starts if they retake Congress.”

“I have never seen such hysteria. Progressives, please get a grip and go do some research on the progress that is being made in the bill. If you will open your minds and stop giving in to your anger, you will find out that we are on the right track and there is much to be applauded here. Are we home yet, no but my goodness, don't go off the deep end so easily.”

helenwheels replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 14:53:24

“When Obama agreed in secret to essentially continue the Bush Medicare Part D price gouging by blocking his own party's attempt to return the government's ability to negotiate the lowest drug prices, I gave up right then and there.”

“NO PUBLIC OPTION = NO REFORM.

You do some research!

You have been sold down the river.

You tell me how forcing people to buy shoddy insurance that they cannot afford is good for the American Public?

You tell me how Medicaid is going to afford the massive increase in patients? (STATES ARE BROKE RIGHT NOW! OR MAYBE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD!)”

“He never said he was going to reinvent our government system. He is a politician and he has to abide by the same constitution that everyone else does. You mislead yourself if you thought he would be that kind of different. His administration is already far more inclusive of the American people than Bush ever was.”

OLJW00 replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 18:12:03

“Following the Constitution? Laughable. None of this is Constitutional.

Roosevelt wanted a second Bill of Rights to cover things like healthcare for all BECAUSE it wasn't in the Constitution.

So unless I'm wrong - please do enlighten me as to the specific Amendment that changed things since then. I simply can't wait to hear exactly where the document now allows the Gov't to involve itself in HC - much less force free citizens to purchase insurance simply to remain legal.

I'll be waiting.....”

CardboardBox replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 14:59:51

“You didn't read the link, did you? No one is talking about violating the Constitution. I'm talking about Corporatism. Obama has convinced you he stood up to the insurance industry (it's right there in his quote) when in reality he did everything possible to keep their money in the Dem party, while extracting minimal concessions from them. In the end it's business as usual, not "change we can believe in." Read the article I linked to or watch this interview:

“The cuts to medicare are not going to effect the care of seniors. It will cut down on the waste that is currently rampant in medicare. We all know what that waste is and the elderly especially know what it is. If they are lead to believe they are being mistreated those who are doing that should be thoroughly ashamed, but I won't hold my breath until they stop lying.”

Jim De Mint said he wanted to make health care reform "Obama's Waterloo" Eric Cantor said he had dedicated himself to making sure not one single Republican would vote yes on health care reform. They both made those statements long before they even knew what would be in the bill that we have today. That is undeniable evidence that the Republicans would rather play politics than be a part of health care reform.”

“Bush and his administration are responsible for the recession we are in and he is overwhelmingly responsible for the devastating deficit that President Obama has to try to deal with. You can play the blame game all you want but we will always be there to state the facts. Of the 2009 spending President Obama's initiatives make up 18%. President Bush's initiatives make up 41% and the rest are things that get passed from year to year no matter who is in office. As for the health care crisis, not even you should be able to keep a straight face and blame it on Democrats.”

Emanuel is pulling a lot of strings, and bringing strong arm pressure to bear on progressives while caving to practically ALL the corporate demands. And yes, Rahm's bro' was writing the Whiote House's "reform" paper. The White House has the power to write legislation and to make deals, just like the one O made with Big Phrma to continue price gouging.”
