“this is the difference between harvard law (michelle) and yale law (hillary); not to mention that michelle has younger kids than chelsea was at the same time--and therefore, sesame street is still uppermost in her mind.. or maybe michelle learned that hillary bit off more than she could chew--and doesn't want to make the same mistake. sticking to sesame street is easy and safe and won't grow a republican backlash that could set us back a generation.”

“actually, many would claim that burris would be barack's FOURTH choice for commerce secretary if he were to take your well-thought-out advice... way back when during the transition, tongues wagged that primo fundraiser and businesswoman penny pritzker was going to be nominated by the president-elect to fill the position. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/19/penny-pritzker-commerce-s_n_145097.html

The Silence of the Congressman: Where's Bobby Rush?

Commented Feb 20, 2009 at 19:22:24 in Chicago

“love the way you characterize rush as having taught obama "humility." yes--bobby sure has some good cocktail party chatter there... i wonder if he reminds people, when given the chance.

what a fact for him to gloat about--you gotta love bobby rush, the only person in the world able to say he beat the most popular and beloved person in the world.”

nomobull on Feb 21, 2009 at 02:29:09

“hey Obama is president . and rush is still where? you don't have to win every battle to win the war. and losing one battle doesn't always end in defeat. maybe it was karma that Obama lose the small prize because had bigger things in store for him.”

For Hillary, Finally a Compelling Reason to Campaign for Obama

Commented Sep 7, 2008 at 20:15:05 in Politics

“a few days ago i agreed with what you are saying: that hillary would be devastated--jealous and heartsick--over the palin run, and hateful of her ideology--and want to beat her back right away....

but after thinking about it for a few days, i am convinced that hillary not only sees palin as a great comeuppance for barack, but also as a great opportunity for herself in 2012--after what would be a mccain-palin failure. she probably looks forward to saying in 2012, "sarah, bring it on!"”

Johnnn on Sep 7, 2008 at 21:09:57

“Yes, the Clintons could basically say "we told you so". Obama is going to lose because he can't nail down the moderates who have become the basis of Hillary's strength. And don't forget the Hillary women who are personally offended by Obama's nomination.”

“What Tompkins Buell cannot stand is that she isn't going to be the best friend of the next president. I would be disappointed, too. She should start thinking of others, however, and get behind Obama so that we can get this country--that has given her so much--a chance to right itself in the world. Furthermore, how active of a Democrat can she be if she doesn't know who Tim Kaine is? I think if she learned a little about him she would be proud to support him if he ends up being the VP nominee.”

FlyingEagel on Aug 5, 2008 at 01:52:22

“I live in VA and Tim Kaine has done a great job with our state. It is doing better than the national average. As for this article . .I agree with you about here character. She talks about Hillary as if she has done something. What has she done? Failed on Health Care Reform. Oh, but she learned her lesson you say. She was First Lady you say, she dodged enemy fire you say, she stood by her man while he cheated on her you say. Her brother was pardoned you say. YEAH . .sounds like a loser to me”

“It seems to me that Susie is quite upset--as any of us would be--that her BFF is not going to be president. All those nights in the Lincoln bedroom denied, all those scoops and intrigue that her friend the-first-woman-president won't be able to share with her. But does she hate Naral so much for endorsing Barack Obama that she will now support an avowed anti-choice candidate for president with the power to nominate anti-choice Supreme Court justices? Is she so wrapped up in the alleged sexism that her BFF endured in her race for the nomination that she has forgotten that the biggest sexist in Hillary's life is her husband Bill? Susie seems to think that Bill, who compared Barack Obama's win in South Carolina to Jesse Jackson's, displayed his love for his wife by talking to groups of "hardworking white people" on the campaign trail. Just exactly where was all that love he had for his wife when he was inserting cigars in the oval office?”

“Here's an email from Horwitz, who asked me to post her response:

"Here is what I think about these self-absorbed women-they they should think about abortion and their children and grandchildren's freedom to choose. The Supreme Court will change and who will the new seats go to?
Roe V wade will emerge and as far as I am concerned, there is no more important choice a woman (or girl) makes about her life than when she chooses to bear children. If Susan Buell Tomkins 'show' the Obama camp her power by voting for McCain, then I hope she goes broke and her pooR daugters or granddaughter get pregnant and seek an abortion funded by Medicaid and it is unavailable."”

“bonmcgrath makes a great point about Bill; one i contemplated often as I was writing the book on his post presidency. Really, a novelist couldn't make up this stuff, which is what makes poltics, especially at the presidential level, more entertaining and infuriating than just about anything.”

What Does Elian Gonzalez Have to Do With Obama's Search for a VP?

Commented Jun 24, 2008 at 23:18:13 in Politics

“on one hand, a lot of people are saying maybe Barack should just forget Florida.... there are so many great opportunities to swing some new states. on the other hand, would it be so terrible if Caroline singlehandedly made the VP recommendation all by her little lonesome?????”
