“...and how many of this 29k are actually paying for it, as in, paying more than the subsidies will make up for? Of this 29k how much revenue will this generate? Why did HP leave this important fact out of the story?”
“And this law will work....to drive the costs up for everybody who gets to pay double for the plans they used to have...”

“more insurance companies now in the insurance pools, competion is up, prices are down.. the insurance company monopolies are broken, the market is working great news.... what was that Republican Idea,,, oh yes mandated coverage to keep the prices even lower... great idea .. and tens of millions of those left out are now able to get coverage,.great and good. just like the other modern countries in the world who cover poor and rich at lower costs and better outcomes than America's older system.”
“So....it's only those on the right who haven't had their rates jacked up? It's only those on the right who haven't been booted out of their current plans? It's only those on the right have found their advertised rates affordable? Keep your head buried long enough and you may not see the damage this plan is doing and will continue to do.”
KauaiJohnnie on Nov 17, 2013 at 16:56:07
“Well, it isn't clear to me who has had their rates "jacked up". In the cases that have been reported by the media, those complaining about higher rates either had a policy that was worthless, in that it wouldn't really cover your health needs, or had not bothered to find out if they would have qualified for subsidies.
It may very well be that people who own such policies and/or are too lazy to follow through are right wingers. Certainly, the media reports seem to indicate this is the case.
Would you like to provide some information to back up your claims?”
pene on Nov 17, 2013 at 16:42:04
“there is simply no evidence, even faint, much less compelling, that everyone's rates have been "jacked up." but even if they were, that is not done by this legislation but by the for-profit insurance industry. and frankly, for righties to complain about what private industry does to harvest wealth is pretty darned unsympathetic. you guys are the ones who want to privatize everything. there is a cost, you know.”

“Oh no people from right, left and in between are starting to realize they have been played. What cannot be argued at this point either the president lied to the people or is so far out of it as to really understanding any of this that it is frightening. Personally I do not think the man is a dummy. I think they are counting on the selective memory of those in the fold.”
“Gouging millions of people with ridiculous rates is not the right direction. The fine print on this hasn't all come to light yet, but as it does you'll see more and more that it's not the great savior of our health care issues. Do I have the answers to solve these problems? No I don't, but that doesn't mean I can see the problems.”
polly6 on Nov 6, 2013 at 13:17:39
“I'll give you one answer......go online ...you can read all 987 pages of the ACA, look up Sec 2794 where the plan forbids a healthcare insurance company from an unjustifiable rate increase. Many companies were charging cheap rates for junk insurance, thats why we rank so low and why we see our healthcare at 18% of the GDP. They profit, you pay, you loose. ACA forbids these policies with so may loopholes to deny your claim.”
“Kyle, you'd likely label me a liberal, but I've NEVER voted based on party. Take note however, you don't hold the monopoly on this sham of a "wonderful program" that's being forced on us. I do have to say, that the whole "left vs right" thing that TOO DAMNED MANY AMERICANS participate in is what they count on. They pit us against each other to keep us from uniting against them while they're screwing us. It's not one or the other side....it's both sides. The sooner we realize that as a country the sooner we can oust those who truly work only for themselves.”
“That sounds good in theory, but the reality of it is that there just aren't the jobs out there. Schooling isn't an option for everybody either. At what $90 a credit hour, it's well out of reach for most...especially if you've still got to live while you're in school. You've gotto live somewhere, that means rent, utilities, a car payment or maintenance, food, and any medical issues that may arise.”
“Illegal is illegal is illegal. You don't need a law degree to understand the concept. If we're going to basically forgive millions of people who are here ILLEGALLY we should probably let everybody out of prison too. Can't pick and choose which crimes go unpunished, can we?”
k3478 on Oct 29, 2013 at 22:18:11
“My thoughts exactly. If we let them go with the crime of crossing our boarders illegal then all the murderers and rapist in the prisons need to be set free also. So then they can all commit crimes again.”

“Actually immigration law is one of the most complex law books. There are a ton of over lapping laws and knee jerk laws as well. They started in the 1880s when America decided it didn't want to have too many Asians. I think your logic is quite flawed, maybe because of fear. Running through a stop sign is illegal. But after that moment that you run through the stop sign are you still illegal? No, because it was in that moment when you went through the sign that you had committed an illegal act. It is similarly written within the law books. But hey, I believe everything I hear from politicians on tv too, the majority of whom have never touched a law book.

“Perhaps, but what are the chances one of the "kids" in the car had a gun? What are the chances, that if that kid had a gun, it would've been legally obtained? What are the chances that a 17 year old, riding with three of his adolescent buddys had his FOID card and a concealed-carry permit? I don't know anything more about this story than what they've printed here, but we can blame society, the media, tv, and the general reputation of people who hang out in groups like this, with music blaring for incidents like this. I'm not defending this guy, I wasn't there, but I've experienced the violence first-hand. They don't attack when it's one-on-one. They don't act up when it's one-on-one. But put them in a group and they'll have something to prove. They want to show how "bad" they are.”

“how about not confronting people who are minding their own business? i have never approached a car to yell at someone for their music. i don't go around starting trouble. mind your own business and there won't be any trouble.”
“I'm no tea bagger, but I'd love to see THIS government shut down and restructured. In case you haven't been paying attention, our current system doesn't work for us, only it's handlers. We outgrew it when our elected few realized they could manipulate and twist wordings into things that would mean profits for them.”
“Wrong. Never setting the boundaries for a child tells him/her he/she can do anything and there won't be consequences, other than a talking to. Have you seen the kids of today? Disrespectful, spoiled, little brats. And there's a difference between discipline and abuse. Too bad the touchy-feely-worried-about-juniors-feelings parents don't see it.”
Bluedane on Sep 20, 2013 at 12:40:36
“It's a parents job not a school's! And you can discipline your child without violence!”
“George W Bush LIED intentionally to get us into Iraq. Why is he not facing 60 years? Manning alerted the world to the US's misdeeds and instead of being hailed a hero for exposing the corruption he's being punished. If he had kept quiet and waited for "internal investigations" to reveal what he did NOTHING would have ever come to light. How about taking those 700,000 "secrets" and seeing which ones are prosecutable and chasing down THOSE guilty parties?”

“Cite one lie from President Bush, Dearie. Just one from President Bush.
“A country full of incentives. My ancestors, the ones who weren't already here, jumped through the hoops, played by the rules, learned the language and did what they had to do to ensure I would have my place. I am not lacking compassion, but amnesty is wrong.”

“Ok so you are entitled because of what your ancestors did; interesting. I think you and your ancestors may owe a few back payments to the descendants of slaves, indentured Chinese, and Native Americans. Are you ready to settle the account...”
“The flag doesn't mean what it's supposed to mean anymore. I was raised to believe that we lived in the greatest country on the planet because things were fair. Our leaders and citizens are SUPPOSED to do what's right over what's profitable. They don't. Our justice system is no longer a justice system...it's a legal system. If you've got the right connections or enough money you can get away with anything. You can buy a politician, you can buy his votes, you can pay to get a law changed or to dissolve our rights. The common people don't stand a chance and allthewhile they play the "keep them distracted" game by throwing things like Trayvon, and Fergie at us so they can keep screwing us and future generations.
As long as we have a political system that pitts us against each other with "right vs left", doesn't punish it's own (unless there's a partisan advantage), has no term limits, and allows bribery..er, lobbying, we will NEVER have any true or fair representation.
I love the idea of what our country was supposed to be, but if it even existed when I was a kid it's long gone now.”

“Not much has changed acatually. It'she old story of "Money talks and sh-- walks" When we get some honest, and I mean "Honest" men and women (Mostly men I hope) in Gov't, we will prosper in all catagories.. BUT...until the public starts demanding honesty, and rightious thinking, and stops voting as the "ME" generation; we will get nothing but crooks and liars.”
