“My point is that after examining the themes and stories in the books, they are decidedly NOT for 12 year old girls. Well, they're for 12 year old girls like porn is for 14 year old boys: not if parents want their kids to grow up with healthy ideas about what love and relationships are all about.

I understand the "fantasy" part of it; each geek enjoys their own brand of dress-up. But my point is that unlike many other fantasy worlds that geeks have latched onto, the themes in Twilight are not redeeming- they are detrimental to a young girl's development of realistic expectations and understanding of love and relationships. If anyone treated my daughter like Edward treats Bella, they'd get a good smack from the back of my hand. Hanging out with a reformed serial killer who has to resist the urge to murder you on a minute-by-minute basis is not "romantic": it's psychotic. Reminds me of those sick women who send love letters to Ted Bundy. NOT a good theme to build a "fantasy world" around for young girls.”

But sorry, I just can't bring myself to do it with Twilight. And it's not the fans. It's Stephanie Meyer. Her story is just so flawed, the writing is so trite and uninspired, the characters are so hollow, the plot is not compelling, and the themes are of questionable taste. The anti-feminist undercurrent throughout the first two books and movies is not so subtle. Meyer is just not a good writer. I understand young girls might not be able to discern that at twelve, but older women should know better. The depiction of love and relationships in the books are as unrealistic as the depiction of love and relationships in hardcore porn. The difference is hardcore porn isn't targeted to thirteen year olds with their parents along for the ride.”

By the way, all the dialogue for appearances like this is heavily vetted, and during rehearsal Bill O'Reilly gets veto power over every line.”

I'm not surprised that Perino's brain is so clouded she can't even remember the worst terrorist attack in the history of our nation was under Bush's watch because they spent so much time trying to blame it on anyone but themselves. But the hype will disappear as soon as the companies catch on to the fact that there are myriad routes that people utilize to find content that don't require a search engine (like this site for instance) and the percentage of people who use search engines to find news is not that significant. Unless they convince consumers that they must pay for content, it's all pointless. After receiving free access for the first decade of the internet, I don't see the numbers of people who would be willing to pay multiple times for news content is not enough to build a new business model around.”
