“patbernstein illegal immigrants will always be employed because they accept low wages and that gives employers incentive to break the law and disguise what they are doing.
To say that they are not hard workers is ludicrous. To demonize a race of people without the facts is what keeps us in ignorance and makes it easy for us to attach made up statistics that shed them in an unfavorable light.
There are those who do horrible things in every race that fill the prisons. Its funny that you never hear of any other race always talking about how the white race has the highest crime and the jails are filled with their white collar criminals ect. It is always every other race and we have got to stop that non sense.”

“WOW!!!!! We have got to call on our better angels to get us through this.
We have enjoyed the sacrifice of those who surrender good and descent wages so that we don't
have to do the back breaking work that those who come here illegally do to give their families a better life.
I am all for doing things legal but the dilemma that we are facing is a moral one.
All those who are up in arms about anti-immigration reform are varried in their response to the question
of what financial drain these illegal-immigrants bring to the table while the pure racist attached to the white suppremasist movement brings with it violence that can spin out of control immediately.
We have to first acknowledge that illegal-immirants are hard working people who put us to shame
because they help each other as they are forced to live together with multiple families and make it work.
If anything, we can learn from their work ethic and their social structure and not be so hateful.
They have contributed greatly and we need to acknowledge that.”

African Americans have always been written out of history because to acknowledge our greatness and the medical, educational prowess as well as our great scientist and invetors who gained no recognition for their discoveries even in this present time will make it hard to demonize African Americans if our full genious was put into the history books and celebrated along side every other race of people who have achieved magnificently.
Its not credible to step on a race of people who have been recorded in history as having contributed greatly to build up a Nation with brilliant futuristic advances that show cases resilience without those achievements without it being a stinging indictment against the contradiction of treatment.
We are a people who can stand under the most oppressing circumstances and still stand tall with our dignity intact. Of necessity we must nurture those among us who crack under the pressure or surrender their dignity to daunting circumstances.
When will the world give us "Our" due and who will be the brave ones to make sure history record the accomplishments of all African Americans as the world celebrates our inventions and discoveries without giving us the credit for it??????????”

Life is a constant reminder that if we had waited and thought things through our life would have been much better having avoided mistakes in haste.
When I pray and wait on the Lord great things happen because it never comes when I want it to but it comes right on time.
I don't see a Timid President, I see a very thoughtful President that weighs his decisions as he inclued others more wiser than himself.
Those who know how to wait not only develope patience but wisdom in the process.
Take a deep breath yall and pray for our President, he has to clean up the mess from the last eight years.
Remember the Bush Administration plowed through every decision and mowed over anyone who was in the way.
Is that what we want????????? Absolutely Not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

This has nothing to do with criticism of the President from those in the LGBT community but everything to do with working together and pointing out when each of us have crossed the line into Republican territory.
Hey guys you have the right to express your demands just like the rest of us but make sure vitriol is not a part of it.

My concern is that the message the LGBT community is trying to get out is being drowned out by those who are extreem in their views who are scaring people with their rhetoric.
I will defend anyone who is being mistreated because I can't stomach bigotry.
I am a christian who is in love with my faith and I often share it without forcing it down anyones throat.
The freedom of choice is an awesome thing and I am cognizant of the fact that there are consequences to all of our choices.

The mess that President Barack Obama has to sift through is almost an impossible mess but he has carefully taken on the challenge. We need to be careful whose analysis we invite into our head because amongst all of these prognosticators, pundits and historians are biasis that tilt towards their Party of affiliation.
I have opened my mind, eyes and ears since the election of our first African American President and introspectively listen to everyone. There is a kernel of truth to all that is being said about our President and his governance "But" when lies and distortion follow those kernael it is up to the Journalist and the Media to expose those lies and distortions that are reported with regularity.
These prognosticators of doom and gloom have a Universal platform to inundate the American People with the propaganda of the day and legitimize it by having Republican Senators give it their stamp of approval.”

I don't care if rational Republicans speak out or not, I just hope they realize it would be insanity to vote for any of these people.
These are scary times. I console myself with the belief that these are always a relative few fringe nuts (even a couple of thousand people at a rally is not a very significant amount and most of these events are lucky to have a couple of hundred present) but that the rational people are just ignoring it all. I hope that is the case but sores fester when they get picked at and the press doesn't seem to want to pursue anything but the headline grabbing events that don't do a damn thing to advance the public discourse.”

I hope that is the case but sores fester when they get picked at and the press doesn't seem to want to pursue anything but the headline grabbing events that don't do a damn thing to advance the public discourse.”

“Of course...and have you ever thought about the real reasons behind the protests? It doesn't make any difference what this man says or wants to do (he could say he wants to change the color [no pun intended] of Cheetos and "they" would find fault. Has nada to do with what he says as much as it has to do with his ethnicity. Period.”

“JustAThought56 I agree with everything that you are saying whole heartedly but I think the point was lost.
Yes there are many hypocrits in the church that give christians a bad name as they can be quiet intolorant of others but that is againts the very religion they claim to practice.
Moral standards have been passed down from one generation to another and whether we participate in religion or not those standards have their origin in the bible.
I am not suggesting by any means those who don't believe in God can not possess wonderful qualities but what I am suggesting is those who do not order their lives with standards that respect the human race there is nothing to restrain them for the most horrific situations known to man.
Freedom of choice is a marvelous thing and we are going to have to learn to respect each other whether we believe in God or not.
I would say that thoughtful discourses such is yours is very humbling.
Thank You.
Peace and Love”

Faith Is About Redemption: The Life of Ted Kennedy

“Jim Wallis thank you for your moving post. As I read your article I too reminisced over the accomplishments of the late Senator Teddy Kennedy and it brought me to tears. He was a great man and fulfilled his task here on earth.
True Faith is about Redemption and all too many of us have thrown our Faith in the trash can and only accept redemption for ourselves as we place it our of the reach of everyone else.
With the removal of prayer from our schools and everything religious stricken from view, all thats left is the mean and vicious unforgiving spirit that is invading our world and exalting the hateful and casting aside the peaceful loving Spirit that leads to a more respectful world.
We don't have to wonder anymore what is wrong with our world, we already know.
We have replaced God and set up our own gods.
WOW.”

“I understand your perspective but perspectives are by definition limited. I would like to ask you to consider my (also limited) perspective.
Faith in God and belief in the tenets of a religion are not required to have strong personal principles and moral center. Many people who are not religious are profoundly compassionate and loving with strong spiritual beliefs, and many people who profess belief in religion and appear in their church faithfully every week are truly morally bankrupt.
My point is that even strongly professed belief in a religion is no indicator as to whether or not someone has a "mean and vicious unforgiving spirit." It seems to me that belief in religious doctrines actually polarize people into various positions, creating separation and a gulf between "us" who have it right and "them" who have it all wrong.
For example, your position makes everyone who is not willing to believe in your religion and pray to your God a "mean and vicious unforgiving spirit(s)." Does that really make sense to you, given the evidence that many very good people don't believe what you believe, and so don't want prayer to your God to be included in the curriculum of activities at the local public school?
Senator Kennedy recognized and respected diversity in people, especially in their religious beliefs. It may be you dishonor him by refusing to respect differences as he did.”

“Faith belongs in the trash can. Redemption is a human quality and no supernatural element is necessary to understand its importance.
And talk about such a "vicious unforgiving spirit" is silly nostalgia and really has no base in reality.”

“This is a beautiful sight and we have got to go back to our grass roots efforts to get health care moving along. Each one needs to reach one and keep this message alive.
There is a compassion in the air that seems to replace the fear and hand wringing the country was engulfed in. There is an electricity in the air that calls us to action.
While we mourn Senator Teddy Kennedy's passing we are also galvanized toward action.
An event so heartbreaking provided the direction to a clear path to travel towards health care reform legislation.
We honor the life and service of Senator Teddy Kennedy and the service of the entire Kennedy family and their contributions to history. What a great family God has gifted the world with.”

“We can best honor the memory of Senator Ted Kennedy by keeping this conversation alive as we both respect each others views while flushing out the reasons we have been left behind on this issue.
For those who don't believe in God, please respect those of us who do. The bible is so misunderstood because of those who have misrepresented it in such a degrading way.
Our obligation to not just the poor but to everyone. Our duty to everyone is just as great as the commandment to take care the poor, sick and those who are in prison.
We have dried up our bowels of compassion and refuse to see everyone as our brother, instead we pick and choose who we will help or if we will help them at all.
We need to come up on higher ground and consider all mankind and treat each other with the utmost respect,
Why do we afflict each other they way we do and cause all kind of pain without conscience?
I don't understand it and I will not participate in it.”

“OK let's have the National Conversation now, using Christ words as a foundation.
Matthew 25: 41-45
41- Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angles.
42- For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
43- I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.
44- Then shall they also answer Him, saying, Lord when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stanger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?
45- Then shall He answer them, saying, verily I say unto you, in as much as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not unto Me.
We have a responsiblity to the poor and no amount of rationalization can excuse our obligation.”

“That's it exactly! Those aren't someone else's words, those are the words in RED in the Bible--supposedly quotes directly from Jesus himself! Like it or not, our nation was founded on biblical principles. But those very biblical principles translate into faiths of all varieties.
Add to that the guarantee of the right to LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and it's a pretty convincing argument.”
