“And MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Keith Olberman, Ed, Chris Matthews and all of the other MSMer's barely touch the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Silence about the Goldstone Report our of Rachel and the rest. Rachel who advertises herself as some sort of human rights activist. Coverage of Iranian Protesters nothing...silence on the Gaza Freedom March. Nothing. Three days of coverage on gays facing human rights abuses in Uganda...nothing on the Goldstone Report or the Gaza Freedom March.

Endless coverage of teabagging protest. Nothing on the Gaza Freedom March or the Golstone Report

Next time folks are marching, protesting against the Israeli governments abusive treatment of Palestinians they might want to hold their protest in Iran...then Rachel Maddow might give them some air time”

He harped on people over Insurance company profits. Harped on this.

Now we have the " Insurance and Pharmaceutical Industries Profit Protection and Enhancement Act"

What happened?”

“Aipacs work

The House has overwhelmingly passed the Iran Sanctions Enabling Act of 2009 (H.R. 1327) by a vote of 414-6. The legislation authorizes state and local governments to divest from companies investing in Iran's petroleum and natural gas sector and protects fund managers who divest from such companies from potential lawsuits. The lead cosponsors of the House bill are Reps. Barney Frank (D-MA) and Mark Kirk (R-IL). The Senate version (S. 1065) of the bill was introduced by Sens. Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Robert Casey (D-PA). Please thank your House member if he or she voted for the bill, and urge your senators to support this critical legislation when it reaches the Senate floor.”

We can be sure this will not make it one the corporate evening news between balloon family stories. Probably will not even make NPR. They barely whispered about the Aipac/Rosen espionage investigation , 9 time delayed trial. A few of them mentioned the trial once it was dismissed. Pathetic”

“This is turning into a reality show. A reality show about what our corporate media makes decisions to focus on, what their priorities are. We have now watched Ed of the "Ed show" Matt Lauer, Meredith Vierra, etc etc spend more time on the Balloon family and whether they will be held accountable for their stupid hoax than they have or will ever spend on those who lied our nation into an unnecessary and immoral invasion of Iraq and the direct consequences of that war. Close a million dead, injured and millions displaced.

We are indeed watching a reality show. That show is demonstrating once again the twisted priorities of our corporate media, our congress and how easily the American peoples attentions are diverted.

By the way did I miss it did the corporate media stay focused on just where and who was responsible for those Niger Documents? Very sick and twisted priorities of accountability...pathetic”

“Terrific and so sad at the same time. We will witness our media (including Ed who I had been watching but no longer) focus on holding this family accountable for their stupid, costly hoax. As we watched our media focused on the lies of Bill Clintions about B.J.s

Yet the individuals who created, disseminated and cherry picked false pre war intelligence run free and our either hunkered down in Washington Think Tanks trying to get the U.S. to do Israel's bidding with Iran. Not one of these people has been held accountable and millions of lives in Iraq were turned to dust due to the use of this false intelligence. What a world what a world”

We are going to watch the corporate media spend more time on the balloon boy hoax than they have ever spent on the innocent children in Iraq who have been blown to bits in an unnecessary and immoral war. The balloon boy hoax is getting far more time than any of the children blown up by our drones in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

1. I seem to recall there was a major coverage of such an event by both the media and Congress.

2. Apart from a tax increase on cigars, I know of no real time spent on this matter. Since cigars badly bother my Asthma, I care not what they do with them as long as they are kept away from me.

3. I don't think Congress has spent any time on this and doubt if it will.

4. Now this is a subject that seems to have been conveniently brushed under the proverbial carpet. Since they were the primary reason used to justify the invasion of Iraq and have since been debunked then I would like to see more time and attention paid to the Niger Documents.”

“You know I actually feel sorry for this guy...for a second. Holocaust trauma, lost his wife and baby to a most horrendous crime committed. But sorry to say no excuse for raping and sodomizing a 13 year old girl (( don't care if she was allegedly promiscuous). Agreed to a far less crime and then ran on the agreement.

This man needs to pay for the crime....one way or the other. Yet I still feel compassion towards his suffering and the trauma he has suffered”

Secularist replied on Oct 18, 2009 at 17:50:57

“Tragedy may not be an excuse (although, there are many who believe that his crime was not exactly what the media says it is, and the victim said as much in recent years), but severe trauma can certainly mess with a person's head. The traumas you mentioned are just the highlights from his life, and there were plenty more of traumatic incidents. For example, when he was a young boy he survived a murder attack by a Polish serial killer and robber, who tried to break Polanski's skull. He survived the Holocaust a s a Jewish orphan, and stories from that period include a german soldier shooting at him for target practice. He lost his mother to the death camps and his pregnant wife and friends were brutally massacred by the Manson gang. After that, he had a nervous breakdown, became paranoid, and was accused by the media of being the murderer before the truth came out. Those who know him believe that he is not the sort of person who would intentionally harm anyone, although that does not mean they condone what he did. Seriously, if people can forgive Mike Tyson, they can for sure forgive Polanski.”

emmeaki replied on Oct 18, 2009 at 17:14:59

“Allegedly promiscuous? First of all, the fact that she was 13 negates any issues of promiscuity. Second, even if she was a 25-year-old street walker, no one has the right to drug and rape her!!!”

tkondaks replied on Oct 18, 2009 at 17:03:18

“cathleen writes:

"don't care if she was allegedly promiscuous"

Indeed. This point is lost on many of the child-rapist's supporters. The victim could have been dancing nude in front of him, inviting him to have sex with her. Simply by virtue of the fact that she was 13 (a fact that Polanski swore to in open court that he was aware of when he raped her) means she didn't have capacity to decide to have sex with him because the age of consent was 14 at the time. And the fact that she was a few weeks shy of 14 at the time has zero bearing on the situation as well.”

“What about the stories of children blown up by American weapons in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan? Would seem that their lives and deaths would somehow deserve some time on our news waves. Arianna was right on. Move on all ready...we are sick of this horseshit coverage. Get onto the news. Show the Americans the pictures of what has been taking place in Iraq and Afghanistan in our name. Spend the time that they spent on the "balloon boy" on just one child in Afghanistan who has been blown to bits by one of our drones. Spend the same time on the over a million people who have died in Iraq as a direct consequence of the invasion of Iraq.

Some how one would think that over a million people who have died in Iraq would deserve the same amount of coverage time as one lost boy in Colorado.

But hours on this Enough all ready.

Show the American people the pictures of what we are responsible for in Iraq, Afghanistan, the damage the drones have done. The innocent people who have died. No we have to see the same shot of Terry Schaivo looking at the same balloon 84 times in a 24 hour period. We have to keep hearing about "balloon boy" until the cows come home.

But any focus on the false pre-war intelligence. Niger Documents...Anyone else noticed there has not been one not one person held accountable for the pre war intelligence. Thousands are dead, injured and displaced...and all the MSM time keeps reporting about is the "balloon boy"
