Robert Joe Halderman, David Letterman's Alleged Extortionist, Was Deep In Debt

“What kind of bail is $200,000 for a man with his income? He only needs to out up $20,000. Will not be surprised if he disappears.
Comparing Letterman with politicians is not appropriate, because most of the politicians caught in adultery lately have been those holier-than-thou hypocrite fundamentalists from the whacked-out West. Or maybe they believe in living the biblical morality of the time of Abraham when many men had plural wives.”

“It's pretty good bail considering there was no violence. Let's see what happen if the Feds get involved-this is an interstate crime.”
Michael Moore: I May QUIT Documentaries

“And the older GM from previous times which provided his family with prosperity and security is the same GM which bought up all the streetcar companies nationwide so it could shut them down and sell America's cities hundreds of huge fleets of polluting buses and destroy the atmosphere. Nostalgia for an earlier era of capitalist exploitation and destruction?”

“I shouldn't presume to speak for Moore, but I'll do it anyway. I think he would say that the union provided his family with prosperity and security.. .not because of, but in spite of, GM.”

“It is wonderful that he saved all those lives. But the pattern throughout human history, from the dawn of agriculture to today, has been continual food crises which are solved by agricultural innovation. This has led inexorably to population increases to the point where humans are threatening to destroy the health of the ecosystem and bring catastrophic disruptions in civilization over the next century. We may not be able to have it both ways.”

“We need new ideas and approaches on ways of separating hydrogen from oxygen, and development of other modes of using hydrogen from water, such as nuclear fusion. And more ideas for the development of hydrogen fuel cells. Urgent programs in these areas would yeild results sooner and would provide us with a limitless supply of energy forever.”
StephBr replied on Sep 12, 2009 at 17:05:16
“If you are using nuclear fusion already why do you need to produce hydrogen?”

“I agree. We don't need to change our behavior, and that is unrealistic, as it's already too late and the human race is too greedy and short-sighted. We need new technologies which will power our industrial civilization without pollution and without a return to pre-industrial times, which will NOT appeal in the least to the billions of people in India and China who want rapid industrialization. Nobody advocating a return to the 19th century has addressed in the least how to sell this unrealistic dreamy concept to the rapidly industrializing third world which accounts for more CO2 pollution than we do. We need technological solutions to protect us from global warming. We need to harness the energy power of hydrogen which is non-polluting, abundant, inexhaustible and waiting to be used. Specifically, we need to put more money into fusion research, a hydrogen technology which is non-polluting - each reactor would produce a swimming pool's worth of mildly radioactive water in a century, and this water would naturally become non-radioactive in a short time.”
StephBr replied on Sep 12, 2009 at 03:11:57
“We don't need to harness the power of Hydrogen, Hydrogen burns just fine, we know that since the Hindenburg. Separating Hydrogen from its friend Oxygen consumes almost as much energy than you get back burning Hydrogen so in short it is not efficient.”

“As an animal rights activist, I care about animals' problems because humans have a lot more people caring about human problems, and because animals are exploited so much worse than any humans are.. Pigs are shipped thousands of miles in winter without food or water, crowded into open trucks, their flesh often frozen to the metal slats so they must be pried off bloodily with crowbars when they arrive at the slaughterhouse. In factory farms, many animals are not accorded the space to turn around or to lie down, and spend their lives standing up 24 hours a day choking in ammonia from their own waste, their legs suffering from painful injuries from continual standing.. It is difficult to find humans subjected to this kind of treatment. Pigs and chickens are often boiled alive for purposes of debristling and defeathering. Steers and cows are often dismembered or skinned while still alive and conscious. Fur animals are electrocuted by rods plunged into their anus, after lives of freezing cold in cages open on two sides to the winter weather. These things are worse than what are done to humans, and are even worse than our usual concepts of hell.. I hope the HuffPost will have the courage to print what I have written so their readers can know the truth. .”

Lousy Marketing -- Not Lousy Cars -- Killed Detroit
Commented Dec 01, 2008 at 02:32:48 in Business
“They built poor vehicles for decades, and by the time they started building quality, they'd lost a huge chunk of the buying public. It's hard to come back when you're used to driving a Japanese make that is very reliable, and the American car's reliability is still a question mark to you. But more importantly, in the last decade they virtually ignored global warming and raced to build bigger and bigger SUVs, betting their futures on a product that only made the atmosphere worse. GM put the icing on the cake with the Hummer, a truly egregious polluter. Ford went on a binge of Exes, each Excursion bigger than each Expedition bigger than each Explorer. Ford also blatantly calculated costs of x number of lawsuits against costs of recalls, deciding to fight recalls of dangerous vehicles and keep them on the road to kill other consumers. Intelligent consumers took note of all this, and started despsising the car companies even more. The idea of my tax dollars going to prop up these incompetent and venal monsters makes my blood boil.”

“On Reagan... when Reagan won, white men without college degrees were 40% of the electorate. They are now down to 19%, because so many more go to college these days. The Reagan formula which depends on these men will not work anymore. The GOP is dedicated to representing a shrinking minority. But sh-s-shh, please don't tell them...... .”

“I hope you are right, and obviously this was Pelosi's strategy. But I'm afraid this genie will not go so easily back in the bottle. ALL presidents want expanded powers, it's in the nature of the office. Carter and Clinton pulled plenty of U.S. imperialist dirty tricks; read Noam Chomsky for details. Obama is not a dove, and will not want to be seen as one. He will use some of Bush's precedents to keep executive power growing. And certain Constitutional limits will be gone forever. And Pelosi's strategy will be seen for what it is: a disaster.”
Inflation jumps by biggest amount in 6 months
Commented Jun 13, 2008 at 21:46:03 in Business
“Core inflation excludes energy and food prices. That's like saying the core of the solar system excludes the sun. It's just another example of government economic reporting which increasingly is skewed to keep people from knowing the real facts, as least as much as possible. Same with labor market statistics. They don't count people as unemployed who have gotten so discouraged they've stopped looking for work. Great way to report on unemployment. This whole economy is a house of cards ready to collapse. In the meantime, these "good" economic statistics like the core inflation report, give the stock market an excuse to rally for a day, before panicking again on Monday. The big players don't care whether it goes up or down, because they are all day traders - all the big banks and brokerages that "trade for their own accounts" - this means they bet on the day's movement and are out of the market completely every night, selling all their stocks every day by 4 PM. They love movement, up or down, they don't care, as long as they guess right. Unfortunately Lehman guessed wrong - its "trading for its own account" lost it big money last quarter. It's all a shell game, folks, but unfortunately the bridge table is now decaying under the shells.”
Carter's Hamas Hallucination

“The fact that Israel is a repressive, colonialist state very akin to the former South Africa is widely recognized in the world except in the US, where refusal to recognize reality is a national trait. The native Americans also fought back, only intensifying the case for their slaughter or permanant loss of their lands and way of life and removal to fenced-in areas. Does anyone today think they were wrong to fight back against total white encroachment on their lands? This would be absurd to say. With today's perspective, a fairer, more equitable solution could be envisioned and worked out. Yet we blame the Palestinians for fighting back against an American-approved " fair solution" involving loss of most of their land, a trickle of water supply, and the criss-cossing of whatever land they have left by Israeli roads and endless checkpoints. A "solution" right out of the American Dept. of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs. In other words, virtual genocide. Carter should be praised for his courage in standing up to pro-Israel forces in the US... And yes, I am Jewish!”

Clinton Campaign Stands By Harsh Letter To Pelosi

“The fat cats of both parties have built this American worldwide empire up, oppressing people the world over, bombing and invading wherever they see fit, staging many coups, propping up the most vicious dictators, ruining the lives and environments of powerless native peoples, maintaining an American presence (both aboveboard and in secret) in over 120 countries, all the while feathering their own nests royally and richly for over 50 years. At this moment in the former Soviet Muslim republics to the south of Russia, we prop up several vicious dictators so they will let us build new oil pipelines. Will the Democrats under Obama free these peoples? Don't be too sure. Good luck you young and older Obama supporters in helping him try to take the reins of power, but beware betrayal. He still will have to contend with the permanent American oligarchy of both parties. Don't think they're giving up power easily or quickly, no matter who is elected. Don't be deceived by the Declaration and the Constitution. You don't rule, THEY DO.

“The media is too arrogant in siding with their favorite candidates and treating the others like pariahs and devils. Maybe Hillary's victories in Texas and Ohio were partly due to a backlash against the bias in the media. If so, I applaud those voters. Furthermore, the media's almost absolute refusal to recognize its own bias outdoes even the arrogant blindness of the Bush administration. This goes for the Huffington Post as well as the rest of the baying pack.”

It's past time it lost that vaunted appellation.”

That's it, in a nutshell; why I fear her. Nothing to with gender.
