Why Do the Smartest Women Have the Toughest Time Dating?

Commented Dec 07, 2009 at 23:51:40 in Living

“Great post! My take on it was most smart women forget to have fun and feel with their heart instead of their brain. I teach premarital classes to engaged couples and often find smart partners compete with each other relentlessly and forget to let their heart feel each other out.”

How Sarah Palin Made Herself Indispensable While Destroying the Republican Party

Commented Nov 15, 2009 at 19:16:47 in Politics

“The theory of Palin being a modern day biblical Esther was floated by fellow evangelicals in last years race and it held no credence. I cannot get over Palin's disdain for communities that do not like like her.”

jsgaetano replied on Nov 15, 2009 at 20:52:02

“Sarah's an Alaskan secessionist. She disdains the entire "lower 49".”

ariveria replied on Nov 15, 2009 at 20:44:34

“why does it hold no credence

did you read the article here is the credence

"comparing Palin to Queen Esther, the biblical queen who used her wiles to intercede for her people. The reference was clear enough: Palin, the former beauty pageant contestant who had chosen Esther as her biblical role model when she first entered politics, would topple America's secular tyrants, leading her people, the true Christians, into the kingdom."

“All true Christians should rise up and protest racist tinged speeches at the Value Voters summit. Its shocking to me that they'll sit there and listen to some of those rants and turn around and hope to attract more Hispanics to the Republican party and a few blacks. The weirder part of it is that most of the attendees are strong church attenders and clergy who believe in missions - sending missionaries to people who are brown or black, yet sit in a conference mocking them/ innuendo etc.”

“A really tough issue - there's a need to be humane and not lock up families with their children because they 'look' Latino. The US has a right to keep its borders safe and not allow anyone to crossover without a visa. Law enforcement does not have the right to racially profile Latinos.”

ndnndpendent replied on Aug 27, 2009 at 22:28:36

Why Africa Matters

Commented Aug 25, 2009 at 23:20:30 in World

“Great warning that should not be ignored. China is making huge inroads in Africa, investing in infrastructure, technology, textiles, finances, oil revenue and precious metals. If the West considers China an economic threat, they should be willing to compete with her in Africa. Africa is skipping traditional development for example cell phone usage exploded in the continent including satellite phones. Cell technology is also being imported from Asia (Japan) - greatest imports into the continent go through Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Africa is a great investment deal - only the savvy and forward thinking are seeing that and taking advantage. Welcome home!”

“Well said! I agree 100% which is rare - black folks share skin tone and that's about it, there are tons of nuances on ideas, ideologies, values, preferences, tastes and political opinions despite the lumping. Its infuriating when folks say all problems will now be solved because Obama is president, no - they won't. He cannot wave a magic wand even if he wanted to. I also think living here in FL gives me a different perspective, blacks come from all nationalities and some of our values do not fit the stereotype. These diverse black communities have been in existence but the media & politicians need to box them in one area to achieve whatever political or journalistic score they see fit. Case and point, I'm black, born in Africa, fierce supporter of Obama, strong supporter of pro-life issues, lover of R&B and positive hip hop, yet I can sing about 50 tunes from old country timers etc, would be lumped in the independent category and currently can't stand the Republican party though I agree with some of the ideas etc. See? Can't fit into one box.”

“Black women's hair is a sensitive topic - we are professionally expected to wear hair "white" so they will feel comfortable in the workplace and not intimidated. This topic ruffles more feathers than I care to think about. Glad Michelle Obama likes her hair the way it is. My feathers are still ruffled, yes, I am sensitive on the topic and yes I am currently wearing my hair natural and about to do locs. Got tired of relaxing it after 15 years of chemical treatments.”

“I still feel Jon Stewart's idea on the bailout was right on - the money should have been given directly to the people instead of wall street. We would have turned around and spend it thus stimulating the economy. I now hate walking into my bank knowing the corporate headquarters is sitting on millions of dollars that could help common folk.”

CarmanK replied on May 02, 2009 at 02:02:04

“Yeah, we could have paid off our credit card debt and started saving money again instead of struggling to pay the banksters that are charging usurious rates on credit cards. The President is giving working Americans tax cuts to spend money on new goods. But the banking gods want all the booty for themselves. So we bail out the banks and THEN pay increased interest rates and banking fees. No new money for new products, we just spend the new paycheck dollars on old debt. Banks stifle stimulus by hoarding new tax cut dollars. Some how, I don't think the banksters got the message that economic recovery was dependent on "shared sacrifice" or is that just Washington propaganda and business as usual???”
