Rachel Maddow vs. "Dr. Evil": Smackdown over Rick Berman's Corporate Funding (VIDEO)

“Honestly, I expected more. Rachel covered all the faux sites before Berman came on and really, the only thing it appeared she wanted to do was have Berman disclose who is paying him and surely she didn't think that would happen. Rachel was far too nice and not tough enough. Where was the argument about the morality of these sites? These places promulgate lies and she should have hammered him on that. She only appeared to be up on the music major guy who works for Berman and why didn't she make more of that? Did she have sheets of facts she didn't get to? And if so, whose fault is that? She let Berman slime his way out of anything she asked and appeared to me to be woefully lacking in strategy. I was very aggravated that Rachel wasn't more forceful and didn't have command of the interview. Heck, it was almost an informercial on "Mr. Nice Guy Berman."”

“I in no way doubt that you are a Rachel Maddow fan. However, I do believe that your disappointment stems from the fact that this was not a "gotcha" piece, Dr. Maddow peppering Rick Berman with rapid-fire questions, not allowing him to avoid giving a direct answer the same way Chris Matthews or Dylan Ratigan would. But that is not Rachel Maddow's style. The facts are on her side and she knows that we are smart enough to see through Berman's diversionary tactics. Every time Mr. Berman slithered his way out of answering the question posed to him, you recognized it. When Rachel brought up the fact that one of Berman's sources in an attack on a Harvard study on obesity is not a doctor, whose "degree" Berman used to try and legitimize the man as a source is in fact in music, we could all see Berman avoid admitting that fact. She did more than expose him as the force behind these deceptive websites, by allowing us to see the way Berman twists himself in knots to avoid acknowledging the facts presented, Dr. Maddow gave us direct insight into Rick Berman's deceptive nature, and allowing us to see it for ourselves is much more effective than having her simply make the accusation.”

Why I'm Bullish on Sarah Palin's Prospects

“Can we please quit talking about this woman? She has nothing of substance to offer this country, and apparently, her state either.
She is popular because she spouts what the right wants to hear and she is a babe. That's all she's got. She's "authentic?" What the hell does that mean? If you use the definition of authentic as "real," she's real allright. The question is, real what? Real crazy? Yes. Real good talker? Not. Real what? If you use the definition as honest, well, not a chance in hell. You, Mr. Waldman, are authentic, too.”

“WE can stop talking about her, but the notion that the GOP considers her a front-runner for national office makes it hard to turn our heads away from this authentic train wreck!”

“I think she is one of the least authentic politicians out there. she lays on the "authenticity" like a costume. she is constantly referential to her own authenticity. I think she cranks up the accent and puts on the fishing and hunting gear to squeeze the last drop of authenticity she can. People who constantly make a point of how authentic they are, arent.”

“Adele, of course the comments you quoted are unacceptable. No one disagrees with that. What you are doing, though, is deflecting what the vast majority of people here are saying and that people are picking on SP because she's a woman. Just not true. Cherry picking anti-Sarah blogs and comments, conflating sexism and Palin's gaffes is disingenuous and wrong. You clearly are a Palin supporter and will find ways to deflect, twist or ignore what is wrong, i.e. Palin is incompetent for any higher office.”

You don't get away with this. Blacks, Jews, Poles, Muslims, Democrats, Mexicans, and a much longer list of others have all (or still all) get hated so do NOT single out women. Disingenuous to say the least, a lie at worst.”

“"...the Hollywood ethic of looking down on people who work for a living." Are you kidding? Since you clearly have never been on the set of a movie (as I have), I can tell you that those people bust their humps on a movie set. Most of the time it's 12 hour days, too. If this is sarcasm, it's well hidden. If not, then you are practicing exactly what you accuse the "Hollywood" people of doing but in reverse. Repub talking points.”
The Real Story Behind Palin's Bombshell

“Hmmm. Here's a thought. She started a "Palin Defense Fund" (my words, I don't remember the exact title) where people would send in money that would help Palin defend herself from all those nasty "alleged" ethics charges. Last I heard, it had a nice chunk of change in it. Could she (or possibly a really smart lawyer) have started this defense fund up not to defend herself from the ethics charges but rather defend herself from the federal indictments that she and her lawyer knew would be coming? And this was done months ago. Did they know about these charges then?”

“My gut reaction is that she will either move on down to the lower 48 and take a job with Fox for tons of money and lots of national face time in preparation for a run in 2012.....OR......take a job with an energy company in Alaska and get paid tons of money so she and the kids don't have to move away. Either way, it's going to mean tons of money for her. No way does she run for the Senate. She has her eyes on a bigger prize.”
