“President Obama's comment that Craig Fugate was doing "a heckuva job" needed no further elucidation from Matthews…the reference was crystal clear, on the mark and may have been the best line in the interview.”
“It is not a "marketing" or messaging problem. The goptea party cannot fix their issues with "sensitivity sessions" or technology or organization or (so far) unscrupulous tactics. Ideas matter, especially when bundled into disparate worldviews.
They fail as a party and a movement (although a handful of individuals may personally succeed wildly) because of who they are. Their core conservative philosophy fails in a modern, globally diverse, interconnected and complex context. When you couple that context with the clear evidence that they are incapable of honest, critical self-reflection which leaves them incapable of admitting the possibility of error...incapable of compromise or collaboration, they cannot change, they cannot evolve and their fate will parallel the Neanderthals.
When they are aggressively anti-Planned Parenthood, anti-the Lily Ledbetter Equal Pay Act, anti-contraception coverage, anti-the Violence Against Women Act, anti-SNAP, anti-Head Start and daycare, etc. any attempts at appearing "sensitive" are doomed to failure and will be correctly perceived as blatant attempts at appeasement.
So, now their IDEAS are all about voter suppression, redistricting, reallocating electoral votes, and “language adjustments”.
The War on Women continues under the thin coat of whitewash.”
“The drug test for people voting on vital legislation that affects all of us is a swell idea. I suggest we also should require they take a psych battery (and publish the findings). A basic intelligence test and an SAT exam wouldn't hurt, either!”
“Dropped our bank accounts several years back and exclusively use C/Us now.
One of them sent us a notice last month that they will be starting to charge a "maintenance fee" on "inactive" accounts i.e. those with out at least several (chargeable) transactions per month or a minimum balance.
Since we already keep more than their min, we won't be affected (yet), but the practice is creeping out of the banks into the orgs we thought were the good guys.”
