“Sarah Palin is classless and obviously has a pottymouth. If she were a real statesman and leader, she would speak with decorum and courtesy...Of course, Tea Party people aren't the wisest owls or sharpest tools in the shed.”
“One aspect of the last 3 mass shooters that hasn't been much discussed was the events in their lives that led to their eventual isolation and plot to commit mass murder. If authorities and the mental health community could construct very specific list of behaviors or events, that could lead to early warnings.
All three, Loughner of Tucson, Holmes of Aurora and Page of Milwaukee had experienced numerous rejection incidents. Loughner had dropped out of school and suspected by school counselors/private counselor to have schizophrenia. Holmes had failed an oral exam and withdrew from school. Page had been left by 2 girlfriends, had been discharged from the army for drinking, and lost his house.
All three became isolated loners. They tried for acceptance and failed, so withdrew from social and emotional contact. Holmes' mother urged him to get counseling for his "isolation." Loughner, had very few friends or social life. Page had "fallen off the map" according to former friends. They were young males (19, 24, 40) with drug and/or alcohol problems. They all gave warning signs, Loughner made strange videos. Holmes drew a diagram of his plan and sent it to campus. Pages band, End Apathy recruited others to be violent.
All are part of the "cocktail" that produced violent people. Law enforcement and neighbors should know these signs. A welfare check, a hospitalization or an evaluation could diffuse these ticking timebombs.”

“Loughner's rejections were more likely a product of his illness and very unlikely a cause of his violence.”
“Cruz forgets we have a 2 party system and that there are systems and rules in place to pass and defeat bills. The people elect, the majority votes and no one rogue lone wolf can usurp the systems put in place by a filibuster. I tell you, these young egotistical extremests will not last long.”
“With so many widespread movements to restore justice in our world (the Arab Spring, OWS), it is a time to question where we’ve been and how we got here. A movement takes more than a march or signs. After the 60’s 2 more generations have practiced free love, free sex and drug use. Yes, we were sure when we smoked our first joint, dropped acid with friends and had love children, that life on earth would finally get better. Well, now the results: splintered lives growing up in foster care, high crime rates, 64% of kids graduate, obesity, homelessness and earlier death.
We can march against what we see as the problem, but where is the change?. What will we actually do to change our national priorities? These are all from the outside in. What can we really do about corporate greed? What will change hearts? What will restore broken families and lives? Something so illusory that we blink, and miss it.? Do you see anything that looks like corporate greed in the book of Acts (they met in homes) Did Jesus tell people to store up all they have and ignore the poor?
Do you think our world is strong enough to solve its probems alone? When has man succeeded in ending war, famine and hate... Why do people lie to themselves and repeat the same mistakes over and over? Definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.”
“Want to know how to get rid of Mexican drug cartels? Build trade schools, universities and technical schools in Mexico. Enhance availability of higher education. Then, young men and women can support themselves in style and respectability.
The stinginess of Mexico's government and upper class in witholding funds that should and could go to public schools and training young people, is having its repercussions on the entire nation. There are no jobs because young people have no skills, because their parents cannot afford the high price of a quality education. Their young people can only just survive unless 1) the join the drug trade and get killed or jailed or 2) they try to escape to the US where they make 10 times as much for just washing dishes. What is wrong with this picture?
Mexico's problems came because the government doesn't see the value of a free education for all citizens. It is their young people who will build the nation's future..”

“Isn't legalizing POT easier, the rest will slowly die out with more direct supplies.”

“Your facts are wrong. There is free education in Mexico. Now, tourism is a huge industry here. So you could all start by stopping the spread of crazy info about how dangerous it is to come to Mexico on Vacation. Puerto Vallarta, for example, is safer than 99% of US major cities.”

“You're forgetting the two things we can do at home.
1) Legalize marijuana. This would be a death-blow to the Mexican drug gangs.
2) Rationalize our federal weapons laws. This would disarm Mexican drug gangs.”

“Cupojoy, you are right. Unfortunately, the problem isn't confined to Mexico. It is happening right here in the United States. Rick Perry just cut 4 billion dollars from Texas education and has laid off thousands of Texas teachers.
Texas has one of the highest highschool drop-out rates in the U.S. Many kids prefer to leave school, join a gang, and run drugs because selling is easy and profitable. Why stay in school if you are likely to be unemployed after graduation or end up in a minimum wage job? Perry has also cut funding for grants and scholarships making it more difficult for low-income and middle-class students to obtain a higher education.
If elected president, two of Perry's stated goals are to eliminate the Department of Education and to privatize schools. If you can see the danger in Mexico, please recognize the danger here. This is one more reason not to put Rick Perry in the White House.”

“Fanned and Faved. When the poor have no options but to rebel against authority it not only sad but distructive. Do the rich really need masses of poor so they can feel superior? All over the world the little guy is struggling while the rich, few of which actually earned their fortunes, give money only to keep them down. Education and health care for all, is becoming the battle cry of the people who look for a better world tomorrow.”
“Both parties are filled with a bunch of egomaniacs and both are condescending to each other. Why is humility such a RARE commodity among our leadership. Their egos are blinding. e.g., this morning Boehner says " We have AGAIN presented a budged and it has AGAIN been turned down..." and " If Harry Reid doesn't sign this, he will have to shoulder the entire blame of our nation going into default.." GROW UP. Our nations leaders do not comprehend that they were hired to work for "We the People!." Their job is to protect our country and its citizens...which part of their job description do they not understand? Their attitudes suck, their pettiness is beyond belief. Why dont the ones with maturity just get together and forget the parties and come to an adult agreement which will get us through this!! Because there are apparently no mature leaders...”
