“Do you also remember the slippage (intentional) of his speech which
contained the "Phrase New World Order"? To me it was scary then and
it is scary as hell now. It would appear that both parties are deeply
involved in the handling of the wrecking ball.”

“Do fish Oil capsules contain any amount of mercury?”

hp blogger Dr. Andrew Lange replied on Nov 02, 2009 at 16:42:01

“Fish oil should be processed to remove mercury and other chemicals. Make sure yours says that on the label. I recently looked into research on algae oils for my vegan friends and there seems to be good support for their use as a source of DHA.
I just arrived in New YORK to teach at Jivamukti Yoga Center this week. So I'll be checking the post and want to thank you for your comments.”

Docs to Women: Pay No Attention to Ricki Lake's Home Birth

“Ladies, get a grip on yourselves. Giving birth is in this day and age
a medical proceedure NOT a kum bah ya session.”

“If there is ever gonna be a kum ba yah moment in your life , believe me, birth is IT!”

LateDave replied on Jun 18, 2008 at 17:06:52

“No, birth is *not* a medical procedure. Bad outcomes I have seen were more often unneeded interventions. 3 of my kids were homebirths, the 4th a birth center. One of my grandkids was birthcenter, the other was c-section in hospital. Who can say it was needed? For normal, healthy women, well fed, members of a circle that includes experienced birth companions (licensed midwives in US), hospitals are scary, dirty, diseased, dangerous places, recourse to which is rarely needed. The medical model of childbirth is an aberration.

Episiotomy and section are major emergency surgeries and should be avoided whenever the risk balance is reasonable. The mortality/morbidity rate before nutrition and the germ theory of disease was supposedly around 10%. This implies medical intervention--even a single injection--should occur about that often--but the rates are closer to 50% where there is money to be made.

The bigger reason is not so much doctor/hospital profit--although that is a factor--as legal liability. People want a free ride, and won't accept anything but "perfect" even though highly imperfect themselves. If you know and trust your midwife, accept a liability waiver, have great health, and have researched the escape route (9-1-1 and ambulance or whatever) for the rare case of bad process, you and your baby are less exposed to trouble than the hospital-bound.”

cheriemarie replied on Jun 18, 2008 at 16:17:09

“Birth belongs at home. Living in this day and age isn't about corporatizing every event of your life. Birth doesn't have to be and should never be chemicalized, technologized or marginalized.
We all live better when our entry into this world is respected and appreciated.

*heal birth, heal the world*”

KISSME replied on Jun 18, 2008 at 15:41:17

“What exactly has changed in the birthing process?

Why are millions of women around the world giving birth perfectly safely in their own homes but, in the United States this most natural of things is a 'medical proceedure'?”
