“How about a true debate with all serious candidates? Green, Libertarian, Socialist, Independent candidates who will actually show a true difference in policy compared to the Republicrats who control the government. If we want to call ourselves a republic, all candidates should be allowed to attend the debates if they so choose. Heaven forbid people realized you could vote for someone other than controlling powers that be.”
“John Oliver has really been impressing me these past weeks while he has been hosting. While Jon Stewart has built the Daily Show to what it is now, Oliver has shown that it won't need Stewart to survive in the future,
It's a broken record at this time, but it's a shame that we look at a comedy show as a place for news and we should just be looking at major media outlets as just entertainment, because we aren't getting any real information from them.”

“it's the writers that make at least half the show. The other half is the face (and personality). I think Tina Fey could slip into that chair just as easily.”

“That is the sad truth...Oliver and Stewart bring the news back to reality land, and in a sense expose how stupid the public is for accepting the crap coming out of politicians and the "professional" media.”

“it'll need that team of writers. Sharp wit and delivery is only the half of it....
“No one with half a brain could even think of arguing against what Scahill said today. There may be freedom of the press, including their freedom to choose what they report and how, but there is also a public responsibility in being a news reporting agency. Viacom, Disney, News Corp, Comcast/GE, etc have all failed as responsible news reporting agencies on various occasions. Now the problem is that independent media which has been doing the right thing for years now, has been branded as liberal craziness which for most cases is not true. Truth in reporting has been chastised as liberal propaganda. I have become so pessimistic of the news in this country that I doubt it will ever deserve the respect they think they deserve in today's society.”

“I was explaining to some of my students here in Romania about milkshakes (and ordering them with a burger and fries or other meals) to which my students were dumbfounded. These were actual responses and questions
"So you (Americans) drink ice cream with fast food?"
"And some people also have dessert afterwards?"
"No wonder kids are so fat"
Mostly everyone else just laughed at the absurdity.”

“I'm sure they understand that the problem, however, is the sugar and not the fat.”
“Actually, he was turning (which led to the ice spray) directly into the line of Hossa, and then he left his feet. There was no intent to "protect" himself at all. Torres is a dirty player. Just ask Brent Seabrook, Jan Hejda, or Jordan Eberle. He's a goon on the ice and shouldn't be in the league.”
“Hands down suspension. Left his feet, aimed high, and Hossa hadn't had the puck for nearly a second which to most accounts would be interference call at the least.
Shanahan has been so inconsistent this season when it comes to doling out suspensions that its left the league's players just trying to see what they can get away with.
I understand its the playoffs and adrenaline is high, but there is no need for players like Torres making hits like this. Those kinds of hits are only inches away from being career ending and Shanahan needs to come down hard.”
“Because you know those gays get real combative compared to the tea partiers who like to tout around assault rifles and shoot out slurs at groups of people like freedom-loving Americans do. ::end sarcasm::”
