“There is no annual limits on anything. Why are you telling people that it is.”

BKFactor replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 13:51:21

“Up until around December 19th, Senate Democrats were going to allow insurers to impose annual or lifetime limits on policy. Progressives went ballistic.

"The White House promised to seek changes, as did liberals on Capitol Hill. It looks like they succeeded. The very first provision of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's Manager's Amendment would explicitly prohibit insurers from imposing either annual or lifetime limits.

A group health plan and a health insurance issuer offering group or individual health insurance coverage may not establish—(A) lifetime limits on the dollar value of benefits for any participant or beneficiary; or (B) except as provided in paragraph (2), annual limits on the dollar value of benefits for any participant or beneficiary.

Paragraph (2) makes clear that the regulation goes into effect in 2014, the year the new insurance exchanges would be up and running.) Prior to that time, insurers would still have some leeway to impose limits, although the authority appears to be subject to some government oversight. A senior Senate aide explains:

They can establish limits on non essential benefits. They can establish limits on the dollar value of essential benefits only as the secretary shall determine. So it is likely to be hard and real limits."

“Cyndeewi - they say things like that because more then half of the US are not aware of how their own government is strucutred and works. They have no idea how things really work in getting a bill passed. Many are just now paying attention to our govenment, and that's due to a black man being in office and the fear of the unknown of having the first AA in office. Not knowing that he needs the approval of Congress to do just about everything if not all.”

faith2hope replied on Dec 22, 2009 at 10:12:30

“GunnyJ & Cyndeewi, I'm with you two on this. The whining and complaining really needs to stop. What makes it worse is that most of the whinners haven''t read the bill they've only been listining to the tv & radio host and spin doctors who only speak of the negative. If President Obama takes in more breaths then they think he is allowed then some how its becomes another reason to whine. They seem to remember everything he supposely promised but none of the things he stated it would take to achieve those promises. He said it would take time, he said it would require some tough decisions and tough changes, not only on the governments part but on the part of the American People, he stated it would require every family tighten the belt and learning to change the way we live for awhile until changes could be made and implimented. So many who voted and believed have forgotten those important key words. Turn off your tvs and radios people this new media world we live in is making some of you crazy. Crazy to think that the mess that our country is in could be solved in less then a year or even a year. You all want transparency but you can't handle transparency its to up and down and to much for you to handle.”

The bill is FINISHED, btw. The House will vote on the Senate bill.

There are LOTS of good things in this bill. They don't equal the bad things.

LOTS of good things got taken out of this bill along the way. NONE of the bad things were removed.

So, for SOME good, we should accept a LOT of bad.

That's bad math and questionable logic.”

Invictus: Obama's Liberal Warrior Speech in Oslo

Commented Dec 10, 2009 at 15:12:30 in Politics

“Obama has always said he would increase troops ing Afganistan. He has always said that the threat was there.”

BR549guy replied on Dec 10, 2009 at 17:06:51

“This Liberal Warrior hype is just Obama's way of placating the banking interests at the expense of all those people who believed him when he made the promises he did to get his butt elected.

Was ANYONE listening to what Obama was saying. This speech had nothing to do with peace or even the pretense of peace coming after hard fought righteous wars, as if there ever really was one. There was nothing noble in this Nobel Prize. Obama was justifying his whole policy to date and what we were to expect in the future.

For him to talk about terrorism totally fails to discuss the fact that we have wreaked political havoc across the globe and any wars we were in since 1776 were ones where we staged false flag operations. Is it any wonder why people want to bomb us? The only "just" wars are the ones the other sides are having to put up to try to have us recognize their right to sovereignty.

So, for all those Kool-Aid drinkers out there who are still waving their arms back and forth in unison as the the choirs in Copenhagen sing about how green the Earth will be, boy are you going to be in for a huge surprise. Here's your RFID, your train ticket, have a nice day, oh, and by the way, "Arbeit Macht Frei".”

“You need to do research educatedobserver. If you look back at President Obama's speeches before he became President and after then you will see why he was awarded the prize. Many winners of the award had not attained their dreams of peace, some have worked tirelessy for years. President Obama has been workingly tirelessly in his efforts. Mostly by putting up with people like you and the GOP. I have never ever seen a sitting President that has been through what Obama has been through in just 9 months.”

I don’t know if the Nobel Peace Prize committee considered that, but in my opinion, Obama’s demeanor in face of overt racism, the birthers, and the tea baggers, the party of “No”, and the animosity coming from right-wing radio and TV, is in itself worthy of a Nobel Peace Prize.”

“Quite frankly if we do not get a public option, Obama can hang up his coat.”

Actongue replied on Oct 07, 2009 at 01:32:11

“I disagree in hanging up the coat.

People want change but at the same time they are fearful of the change they want.

It takes time for people to accept change even when it is for the positive.

We can not expect to change our way of thinking overnight. The system we have has been in place for quite some time and even though that system is and has been failing us it will take time for some people to realize that there are better ways out there.”

Obama, America and Race

Commented Sep 24, 2009 at 08:33:50 in Politics

“Why should Obama or any black person reassure the worried white folks? This country is not owned by them. The indians were the first ones here. We should be trying to reassure them. To that end, who opened the doors to all the other races? This was their doing, and now they are afraid? Give me a break!”

Jorge Al-Subbad replied on Oct 05, 2009 at 00:53:13

“Actually cyndeewi... the county IS owned by them. Blacks owned 16 times more land 100 years ago than we do today. The subprime loan orgy of the last 6 years targeted blacks disproportionately controlled for all income levels and creditworthiness. Loan and Mortgage companies used sophisticated sampling means to direct the worst loan terms towards the black customer base and estimates are that blacks as a group have lost more than 200 billion dollars in wealth from foreclosures, fraud, and high interest loans.

It's also part of why black support for Hillary was so strong early on... we knew he would face mindless obstructionism for years following a period of "reassurance" and "crossing the color barrier" because that is how integration always worked from Jackie Robinson to the Little Rock 9. One had to prove to whites that one was worthy to be recognized as a citizen... then to quote Cleavon Little's character in "Blazing Saddles"(which is less and less a crude comedy than the blueprint of a Presidency).. "then they got to accept ya." I'd also point towards Chris Rock's loud but cogent analysis of why Oprah is popular... Rock joked that all of Oprah's giveaway shows and "gift under the seats" stuff is meant to keep white people calm and that's why she is able to maintain a large and dedicated audience of white women. I think Rock called it. And that's why the Republicans are leaping on entitlements of any kind!”
