“I somehow don't think the Republicans have this figured out.  The ACA will be a success of that I am sure.  And it won't be at the cost of higher premiums.  The US spends at least $500 billion more each year on drugs and treatments than they need to compared to other countries.  To get this into perspective, 18% of US GDP is in healthcare.  In other OECD countries it is 6%.  Lots of fat juicy margins.  It will only take one company to enter the market based on neat supply lines and good medical practices to be so very disruptive.  I am betting the country of New Zealand might even do this.  Their state owned company called Pharmac has negotiated the costs of medicine down by about 95% over what most US companies pay.”

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Common Defense and General Welfare are precedents to securing the blessings of liberty.

Sounds like our founding fathers did know about the advantages of cooperative action in setting up a government. Reference the pre-constitutional snake flag. And they knew about the necessity to tax. See the maritime trade health and hospital tax that predated Obamacare by more than 200 years.

So don't call them socialists or pinko, if you please.”
