“I don't think I'm entitled to anything except a FAIR shake! My husband and I have both worked since we were 16 years old. We own a home, pay our taxes, are law-abiding citizens, and have raised three well-adjusted boys, one of whom is severely disabled. I don't think it's so much to expect big business and especially the financial sector be held to the same standards and accountability as the rest of us!”

“I too have a 13 year old with a very limited diet. When he was very young he ate a variety of foods, but by the time he was 3 years old he refused almost everything we put in front of him. It was as if we were putting a plate of glass in front of him and asking him to eat it, that's how repulsed he was by it. I have often wondered how I could introduce a gluten free diet when he refuses to eat anything but foods with gluten in them.

I have often felt my son receives a lower level of medical attention because of his autism. Most doctors just look at the label and say there is nothing they can do to treat him. It's extremely frustrating as a parent. An example, my son recently had to be put under anesthesia to have some dental work done. My son has never had blood drawn or any blood testing of any kind, so I asked his pediatrician if there were any blood tests he would like to have done and he told me, "no, none that I can think of."

My son suffers from many of the ailments written about in this piece and I would love for him to be seen by a doctor like Dr. Hyman, unfortunately they are few and far between. If you're interested in taking on another patient, I'm open for a discussion.”

Oh and just in case you weren't aware, the average graduation rate in this country is 70%. Heaven forbid the president address this issue and ask for help in resolving it. Asking students to set goals, work hard, and graduate from high school only helps the students, their families, and the country as a whole.”
