Swine Flu Vaccination: Corporate Employers Got Scarce Flu Vaccine, USA Today Reports
Commented Dec 07, 2009 at 20:44:03 in Business
“The bigger concern is that people who are in the highest risk groups receive it FIRST. Unless these executives have serious underlying health issues, are first responders, or children, they should not be receiving the vaccine. Our school district has had to cancel vaccine clinics multiple times due to shortages, so there obviously isn't enough to even vaccinate the high risk populations. These corporations had no business getting any of the vaccine. Period.”

“Dingdingding! You're the 1,000,000 person here who has said that! Here's a balloon! You can tie it to your wrist! But in all seriousness, please tell me how my preferring to watch a cartoon over the president telling us we're going to be at war for another 3 years makes me a jerk. Because you know that if he's committed 30,000 (minimum, they always fudge the numbers) troops, that means that he's got at least twice that in Blackwater mercenaries who work for a company whose CEO is a crazy born-again who wants to wipe out all Muslims from the Middle East to make it safer for white Christians. But I'm the jerk for choosing cartoons over being reminded that our biggest export is war.”

“Big babies often slim down during toddlerhood and childhood -- as long as they have plenty of exercise. They're definitely at risk for developing diabetes in later adulthood, though.
I had gestational diabetes with one pregnancy. One kid's birthweight was 11 lbs. But, my kids swim about an hour every day (year-round swim team). They also like playing outside a lot.
It's imperative that kids develop a life-long love for physical activity.”

“Interesting blog from Jillian Michaels:
This is so Oprah... but I can't help it. I read the most amazing books and I thought I would share them with you once a month on here. So my first list is all about the links between corporate America and disease / obesity. I have come to believe that our obesity epidemic is based on economics NOT personal accountability. I believe that personal accountability is the CURE. That said, hope you like these books as much as I did. They might be scary at times, but knowledge is power. With the right information, you can make the right choices that affect positive change in yourself and in the world.
