The Last Gasp of the Angry White Man
Commented Aug 10, 2009 at 15:55:39 in Politics
“Excellent Article! You hit all of the points that I have been mulling over since this debate began. I'm starting to get a little nervous about all the threats going on, and I also think it needs to be turned down a few notches. I'm worried that it will only get worse as time goes on. And you're right. It's not about healthcare. It's about people feeling like they're losing their country/power and I'm almost certain that Obama knew this would be part of the problem with his presidency. That's why he said I'm your president too!”
Bonobo replied on Aug 10, 2009 at 17:34:42
“Yeah, he knew there would be a problem, but he seems to think appeasement is the answer. I don't think he has a very good grasp of the culture involved. There's a value here that says is good and proper to push as hard as you can for your own interest until someone pushes back. By attempting to accommodate them, he only encourages further outrage. I believe they would respect him more if he actually took a firm stand, and just said no.”
White Men Can't Judge

“This article is spot on! All of the people leaving negative comments have no idea what it's like to be a black man in America! They don't have a clue. The police officer should have apologized and gave his name and badge number. He arrested a professor (that uses a cane) in his home for getting loud. Black folks cannot get angry. It's just not appropriate. They just scare everyone. Ridiculous!”
GolemB replied on Jul 24, 2009 at 15:25:12
“Even more Gates should treat those sent to protect him and his property with respect and gratitude. And apologized with his first reaction of pulling the race card. Would he have done the same thing if a black officer was the first to arrive? And asked the SAME questions in the same tone of voice.”

It's great that you are discovering your true calling and you're also setting a really great example by taking responsibility for your actions. We will miss you while you're gone! But you will be even BIGGER when you get back . Remember we got your back in the ATL! Peace!”
Barack Obama -- More Presidential By The Day

“I agree with your statement. Ms. Reardon, you praise the President only to politely put him down in the same paragraph. Our new President is in position that no one in my lifetime has had to deal with. He's working hard so we don't complain, and he gets told he's doing too much, then not enough. Can you imagine having this weight on your shoulders to bear? And yes he chose this and we chose/voted for him. I would think there are obviously things he finds out from the intelligence briefings that he cannot say publicly. Why is everyone in such a rush to condemn this man? I just don't get it.”

There is a simple answer to that question that many people just don't want to entertain. The reason for that may be that they don't want to admit that this country is made up, at least partially, by the kind of people that harbor ill will toward certain groups of their fellow citizens. Nine out of ten people will know exactly what I'm talking about.”

“Thanks Rep. Frank! I really needed this history to be explained again. I knew this was the actual truth, but when you listen to the MSM, esp when they constantly interview the obstructionist party members, you can start to become somewhat dismayed. Please send this acticle to all the major newspapers, and see if we can get this information to the public. It was also a very uncomplicated easy to understand article.”

Commented Nov 19, 2008 at 08:24:57 in Politics
“Thank you for the great article! I feel the exact same way.: "Speaking for my tiny little chunk of the liberal blogosphere, I don't like Joe Lieberman. I was disgusted by Hillary's campaign. And I couldn't be happier with Obama's decisions."
I know this hurts some and they want to be mad, but as you so graciously pointed out Obama has been talking about this from the beginning. It's like hugging a bully. I am thankful that we do have some people that truly understand. When Obama didn't fight back hard in the debates, you could tell he was putting his plan into action and I was able to witness this change with my very own eyes. I didn't have to keep trying to read about what it meant, I actually saw it, like I do now. He's a truely smart man and I couldn't be happier.”

Stop Blaming California's Black Voters for Prop 8

“Excellent Post Raymond! Every blog that I've read recently kept going down this same road: Blame the Black people for the yes on Prop 8. I agree with everything you've written. I was not able to vote on it since I'm not a resident of Cali, but I never really understand how this came about in the first place to make it to the voting ballot. Also, what's wrong with civil unions?”

I call myself married. My wife and I had a civil service, no church involved. By Prop 8 logic, we are not married at all.........Hmmmm
Civil rights in America should never be a voting issue anyway!”

Bill Clinton's Legacy?
Commented Sep 29, 2008 at 08:47:23 in Politics
“Carol, glad to see that someone really notices the different behavior of our President Bill Clinton. All he has to do is watch himself on tv and he'll figure it out. He defended himself by saying he only had one meeting with Barack when he visited Bill in Harlem. Every since the SC primary race, he's said and done things I never thought he would do. Once HIllary lost, it still seemed he was bitter until the convention. At the convention he still didn't seem confident that Barack should be president. It makes you really wonder, who do the Clintons owe and what promises did they make thier supporters? It's truly embarrassing. Luckily Barack has picked up on this and despite his need to want Bill in his corner, he knows its a long shot. I just don't get it.”

“I'm not sure why you want him to 'let the anger loose'. That's the problem. Obama doesn't have anger to 'let loose'. He doesn't operate that way and never has. Can you name one instance where he's 'let his anger loose'? So to think that he would start now is ridiculous. The fact of the matter is that not only is he smart, he can disagree with you in still carry on a respectful conversation.
I hope Obama sticks to what he is all about and what his campaign has always been about. The 'bbq media' (coined by Bob Cesca) would love for this man to go off on the old white guy, so he can be labeled as the scary blacky guy. He has so many hoops to jump through, half of them are constantly on fire. He needs to continue being level headed and speaking about the issues and he'll be just fine.
Remember, we almost had Hillary Clinton as our nominee. Can you even imagine the vitrol that would be the theme of this election? Obama's technique reminds us 'thinkers' that there is more to a debate than just 'letting the anger loose'. He makes us normal folks think about things deeper. Also no one pointed out that he didn't say um that much, and that he is great without a telepromter, and he tried to engage Mccain directly. How come we can't focus on the things he did well?”

I am tired of hearing about her short resume already and I'm somewhat concerned about her having a young baby and being a heartbeat away from the presidency. I wonder how the repubs feel about that?...not that it matters anyway.

“Seth, Great question: 'When exactly did John McCain sell his soul to the devil?'
IMO John McCain sold his soul to the devil when he was adamantly against torture and against allowing the Geneva conventions regarding torture to be changed.
McCain then went into the Bush WH defiant and came out in TOTAL agreement. It's like he was given a labotamy while he was there. I have every reason to believe that it was at that moment in time he was promised to be the next POTUS by Bush (and his cohorts) as long as McCain showed fierce public agreement for the changes to torture.
John McCain was once a very straight-forward honorable man. He has done a 360 degree turn on who is is and what he stood for.”

Every Republican calling in kept saying Barack Obama was arrogant. How many words will the RNC send out in their Talking Points Memo to see if it will stick to Obama? He's arrogant now?
Also Andrea Mitchell is doing the american people a disservice with her reporting. You can tell without a doubt that she wants to be negative towards Obama, but why would she go on this trip knowing she's going to go out of her way to say something negative? Especially when it's written all over her face.
People around the world will see what the American Republican Party stands for and no matter what is said about Barack's speech...the world is yearning for a new US president that has the world's intrest at heart. Barack Obama be our next President.”

I got the sense that they were trying not to emphasize the actual size of the crowd. calling it "tens of thousands"”

“When Obama was in Kuwait, meeting and greeting with the boots, Andrea got miffed and reported on air how SHE could NOT verify there was REAL enthusiasm from the "boots to /towards" Obama as NO INDEPENDENT "journalist" was ALLOWED and the ONLY TAPE/ VID CLIPS came from the MILITARY so NONE could VERIFY was REAL IMAGE of how he was received...!!!! Yeah, ANdrea, like the footage all these Bushlerized controlled yeeeears, has NOT been CONTROLLED ? Cite your "inbeds" all you want, they only "reported " as "directed" or soon were cast OUT !!! And footage from the military is what ALL the media outlets HAVE BEEN USING, remember Saddams crashing statue..quickly cut was the shot that panned the "crowd" which numbered quite few when shown fully , edited and repeated ad nauseum , same goes for the same vid clips of combat..that one soldier repeated peering over with blood oozing from his arm but fearlessly/relentlessly firing out at the enemy....can list many vid clips that were military supplied after edit so the picture to the public appeared as AGENDA PREFERRED to help PROMOTE the agenda...Mitchell is a disgrace and vastly over rated...she and hubby are good friends /socialize with the Cheny family as well !!!”
