Filibuster Reform Debate Reignited By Senate Gun Vote

“I'm not the one who claimed to be His spokesman, you are. The Bible makes it clear that God recognizes the right to bear arms. And the Constitution also states that right very clearly.

When you talk about having "guns that are only in existence to kill other human beings" what you are referring to is arms. That's what the word means. Whether the things in reference are swords, pikes, muskets, or so-called assault weapons, the word arms means things designed to kill people. And both the Bible and the Constitution recognize the right of good people to have them. Those who claim otherwise are trying to corrupt those two bodies of writing.”

“Liberalism is a cult. And Republicans aren't much better than Democrats. The only thing good about either Bush was that they weren't as bad as the other guy. And the same could be said for Romney. Any of those would have supported the gun control proposals being proposed now by the way. The only real difference is the rate at which we lose our freedom.”

“And would be without gun control laws. But if they did work, there would be no criminals with guns in Mexico.

More people have been murdered by governments than by private citizens; did you know that? It's explained pretty well in a book titled Death by Gun Control, by Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership (who I guess didn't like how the National Socialists kept the peace). The book is well documented, in case you maybe think the authors are lying.”

“How about a background check before you can post on the Internet? Or before you can obtain a copy of the Koran? There are good reasons to oppose this bill my friend, or patriots would not oppose it.

Those who follow this issue know that this was just the most recent in a long series of attacks on the right. Bait and switch is a common tactic of the enemy of freedom. There is too much gun control already, not too little.”

Democracy is mob rule, and the current gun control stampede led by liars and demagogues is an example of how destructive a mob can be. Thank God there are still enough loyal Americans in Congress to stop it. (I hope my non PC use of the G word doesn't offend you by the way; if it does, let's just say thank Darwin.)”

“As I explained to someone else, American is not a democracy, it is a Constitutional republic. And that is a good thing, because democracy is mob rule. Some things happening now show how easily a mob can be manipulated, and why the founding fathers were wise to build the Constitutional republic they built. The defeat of this infringement on a Constitutional right shows that the Republic is still more or less intact, though just barely.”

My mindset is that limited government is better than unlimited government, and the limits set by the Constitution are good limits. Another part of that mindset is that those who swear an oath of loyalty to the Constitution should abide by that oath.

Those who have blind faith in big government have carried one tyrant after another to power throughout history my friend. Their intentions might have been good, but their hands are filthy with blood.”
