A Different Kind Of Tears For Obama

Commented Dec 02, 2009 at 21:30:59 in World

“And I never said that they had died already. Thousands of Americans have died in Iraq along with hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians. Is this the direction we want to go in Afghanistan as well?”

A Different Kind Of Tears For Obama

Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 17:57:12 in World

“What about thousands of innocent Afghan civilians and American troops? Will that make you sleep better? Are your shoes worth it?”

GodBlessAmerica replied on Dec 02, 2009 at 19:23:37

“We have not killed thousands of Afghan civilians. Nor have thousands of troops died. (In fact, I think we are far too timid with our troops.) That is why I called the argument ridiculous in my initial post.”

A Different Kind Of Tears For Obama

Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 17:54:38 in World

“I didn't side step anything... This argument is not about Sudan. Unless you mean that after we exhaust ourselves on Afghanistan and Iraq we won't have the man power to do a d amn thing in Sudan. Because if THAT'S what you mean then you're entirely correct.

And whose lives are we saving over there right now? Certainly not American lives, certainly not the lives of troops...”

A Different Kind Of Tears For Obama

Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 13:35:38 in World

“Newsflash... this isn't about stopping genocide in Sudan.. this is about a losing battle in Afghanistan that will cost us billions and billions of dollars and thousands of lives (American and Afghan)...

Oh but don't you dare increase the deficit if it's for Healthcare!”

GodBlessAmerica replied on Dec 01, 2009 at 14:14:11

“I am worried about the cost. But the "thousands of lives" argument is ridiculous.

And if we happen to kill thousands of Taliban, and other extremists, Insh Allah, I will sleep better at night, and maybe one day keep my shoes on at the airport.”

dobriyden replied on Dec 01, 2009 at 14:02:27

“derek-The usual out for a lib. Saving billions and saving American lives. Tell me were you as concerned when we responded to 9/11 or are your concerns the way you really felt after 9/11. Nice side step on the Sudan.”

“Yes, absolutely.

Watch Bill Moyers. And apparently Mcklatchy. Amy Good man does an excellent job though her bias is evident. It doesn't detract from her ability to cover stories.

And of course, Stewart and Colbert. A sad commentary but true.”

“You think that's not already happening here? Haven't you heard of the hospitals who dump patients without insurance into a cab and then dumped on the curb by another hospital, with the patients still in their hospital garb?

Not to mention 50 million people in this country aren't getting ANY care in hospitals at all, appalling or otherwise. You act like we aren't capable of improving on other countries models which are ALREADY BETTER than ours... Every health care system has problems, none of them are perfect. But it's just dishonest to paint the entire NHS as a failure (just ask the people of Britain if they'd ever give up their NHS system) because of some of the problems they've had. And regardless, they're health care system is STILL better and costs infinitely LESS than ours.”

“Who cares about either of these stories? And honestly, who did Obama endanger by parking illegally? Do we know the circumstances of the parking?

Speeding is clearly more dangerous. Especially in a school zone.

But like I said, I couldn't care less about either of these stories. They're both non-issues. 90% of people on the road speed at some time or another, this guy was just unlucky enough to get caught. Give him a break.”

AttorneyAtLaw replied on Aug 22, 2009 at 13:06:56

“The Boston Globe's reporting of the story indicated that President Obama (while in law school) parked in designated city bus stops, in areas that required parking permits, and at metered spaces without paying the meter.

I agree that the danger is likely non-existent. The issue the article brings up is whether these instances reveal that these individuals feel that they are above the law. Many have attacked other politicians and political appointees in recent months for failing to pay taxes. The criticisms go to the same point - people who wish to make the laws by which we must abide must set an example by abiding by these laws themselves.”
