Rosa DeLauro: Recall Joe Lieberman

Rosa DeLauro: Recall Joe Lieberman

Commented Dec 16, 2009 at 01:52:26 in Politics

“I have watched videos on NBC of Joe apparently telling lies about his support of health care reform, support of a public option and support of a medicare buy-in. This man is a sad, sad excuse for a human being. Has he no respect for the people in this country? Or the people in his state? He is pathetic.
He could care less if 45,000 people die next year due to lack of proper care. He just has to have his ego stroked.

I won't draw the obvious comparison of masses dying. He should know better.”

DUSAA-1775 replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 05:17:27

“Oops ! there is that 45,000 figure again. Since that number is from an unworthy study, may I suggest that from now on, we use the figure of 2.5 million?”

Dez3 replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 02:06:18

I agree, Joe should know better. The problem is that he DOESN'T CARE!”

“Score is 45,000 possible deaths vs Lieberman having his ego stroked. Nice guy.”

Eris23Skidoo replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 08:41:39

“He's just fine with that as long as they are American deaths. Now, if we were to gamble Israeli lives on whether or not their insurance companies didn't drop them...then he might stop smirking. I wonder what his price is, when it comes to Israeli lives. How high does the bribe have to be then? How much more is an Israeli life worth to him than an American one? Just wondering.”

“As we all sit here and blog, insurance companies and health care facilities are increasing their fees and prices. Considering that the insurance companies negotiate with health care providers, hospitals and the like, it isn't surprising but it seems very deliberate. So much for competition. Their greed is showing.

Joe Lieberman on the other hand, has no clue.”

StellaRay replied on Nov 23, 2009 at 23:57:44

“Absofrickinlutely. Lieberman has no clue about, ironically, the "average joe." So, all you out there tonight reading this from Conneticut-----get rid of this guy. You see, this is our problem. We are not a voting republic. Our voting record in presidential elections alone should embarass us and forever wipe away our arrogance, without ever tallying our despicable mid term voting record, not to mention how the pyramid falls from there.

Fact is, we are offered input on every level of our government, from the most local to the presidency. By and large, we do not participate. We congratulate ourselves with "I voted" stickers when we show up once every four years. Then we whine about what a schlock job congress is.

You want this country to be better? Stand up. Take some responsibility. Stand up, stand up, stand up.”

Commented Nov 19, 2009 at 00:19:20 in Politics

“The real bottom line is that the abortion issue is mainly a religious issue. The founding fathers, while not knowing that an issue like this might come up, were adamant that religious beliefs not be incorporated into our government's laws. It was felt that no one religion (or several) should impose their beliefs on the citizens as a whole. They viewed that as a violation of civil rights and of the constitution. They feared, and rightly so, that one church could take over the government, something that existed in Europe and which was one of the reasons many people came to this country to start with. If anyone doubts this, simply read the writings and discussions of Thomas Jefferson.”

“Maybe humans preceded chimps, who knows?”

ladyfractal replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 22:33:05

“Actually, we DO know. The line that became chimps split from the line that became humans at the *exact* same time. We didn't come from chimps, we came from an ancestor that the chimps *also* come from. You don't come from your aunt, but you share a common ancestor with her and, in almost all circumstances, she is older than you.

We know that this split happened in the range of around 6 million years ago. We know this because changes in non-coding sequences of DNA happen at a predictable rate such that if you have good sequences from two different species (and we have complete sequences for both humans and chimps) you can calculate how long ago the two genomes split up by looking at the number of changes. Can we give you a date and time? Of course not. But we can give you an epoch within a reasonable margin of error.

Cheers
LF”

ptfcNassoc replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 16:27:54

“exactly, when you are poor and relying on food stamps your mindset is different. When you go to the grocery store you are thinking what is going to fill me up at the cheapest (college students can relate). Healthier "lighter" foods cost more. When you are poor like that you are thinking can i fill myself and my family up so they are not hungry and make it last, and nutrition takes a back seat. But I bet you never even had to sit down and make that judgement call in your head before. Good for you that you can afford arugala, lamp chops and fish/seafood (not cheap).”
