“Have you missed the healthcare debate entirely? What about gay marriage? Abortion? And despite the bailouts and the wall street payoffs, Democrats still favor more regulations and government involvement in private fiscal affairs. We know what Republicans think.
Believe me, I have not been entirely thrilled with the Obama administration thus far, but there are many key issues that divide Republicans and Democrats. You cannot let your anger and disappointment blind you to the things that we progressives, democrats, left wingers whatever you want to call us, do not share in common with Republicans.”

On healthcare you will get the leftover's from the feast the insurance industry had with the "ripping apart", and I have not seen anything on gay marriage (maybe I missed it entirely but I just heard talk).
I am not blinded, quite the opposite; I do not blindly be;ieve what the Obama administration wants me to.
I know this; they have not done anything significant this far...nothing. Oh, I am wrong, the banks would look at that differently. That was significant.”

“South Carolina:
Teen birth rate = 53 births per 1000, vs the 41.9 national average
Infant mortality rate = 9.4 deaths per 1000, vs 6.9 national average
2.6 physicians per 1000, compared to the 3.2 national average
26 percent of children and 13 percent of elderly living in poverty
34 percent of children are overweight or obese
One of three states that does not use competitive international math and language standards
Oh and they have the 5th highest unemployment rate in the nation
I can understand why So Carolinians are frustrated with their government, but those looney right wing tea baggers are misdirecting their anger and channeling it towards officials that are only going to make these statistics WORSE.”

Iranian Lawmaker: Iran Could Leave Nuclear Treaty
Commented Nov 28, 2009 at 16:44:40 in World
“I am against nuclear weapons, but peace in the middle east is a delicate thing. Because the Israelis allegedly have nuclear weapons, their neighbors think twice about openly provoking them. In this instance, nuclear weapons sort of keep the peace.
But something with Iran is different. All of this nuclear Iran talk has sparked a Mideast arms race. We Americans like to group Mideast Muslim countries together, and many don't understand that Iran famously does not get on well with it's Arab neighbors (another common misconception - that Iranians are Arabs). Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry came out and declared that a nuclear Iran was a "principal security threat to Arab nations". Shortly afterwards, a four-nation Arab summit held in the Riyadh agreed with this analysis and decided to create a joint pan-Arab nuclear industry to combat the Iranian threat.
There are also reports that Iran has been setting up joint nuclear committees with Syria and Sudan, as well as the anti-US regimes of Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and Ecuador.
I'm not a huge fan of Israel, but their alleged nuclear program has not stirred up this much controversy, and they have not been sharing nuclear technology with countries that are hostile to the US.”

“I will stipulate to your argument that MRIs are more effective, but they aren't mentioned as part of the recommended course of detection. My point is that if there is an means of detecting disease then it should be implemented as a recommended course of detection, but not at the increased age brackets specified.”

“Yes, they are asinine!! As someone with no cancer history, my doctor still advised a baseline mammogram between 35 and 40; he does so with all his patients. I was diagnosed with breast cancer after a surgical biopsy following my first mammogram at the age of 37. 6% of breast cancer is diagnosed prior to the age of 40 and, because it is much more aggressive in younger patients, only 11% of that number survive.
As far as the MRI - you are correct BUT they are still having difficulties with their inability to see early stage breast cancer which accounts for nearly 1/2 of the cancer diagnosed by mammography. Early detection is the key to survival.”

“I'm a little on the fence about this one. A good portion of tax payers don't want their tax dollars to be paying for abortions, but at the same time - is it fair for those who have abortions currently covered by private insurance to loose this?
Where do you draw the line?? A lot of Pro-lifers are against birth control as well, which can already be a struggle to get private insurance companies to cover. Are we going to ban federal funding for birth control? Pretty soon we'll be a nation of Duggars.
And why is it ok for insurance companies to pay for viagra and the like?”
