Lieberman Tells Reid To His Face: I'll Vote Against Current Health Care Bill
Commented Dec 13, 2009 at 21:20:01 in Politics
“Senator Lieberman is becoming one of the more hated figures in American politics. He rejects anything except a complete give away to the private health insurance industry, the latest being his opposition to opening up Medicare to those 55 and older. All he wants to do is deliver 30 million more customers to the insurance companies and keep everything else the way it is. Until he comes up with a workable solution how having him give up his health insurance? He is an embarrassment to the State of Connecticut.”

He probably does not care if he is re-elected or not, probably will not even run. His single motivation these days is to "put it to 'em", for whatever he thinks they did to him. How does he reconcile this position with his mitzvas?”

Drunk Frenchman Opens Bottle Of Wine With Shoe (VIDEO)

“I hate listening to drunks slurring words even when it's in a language I understand, but I watched it again. I can't tell if he was just removing the foil, or loosening the cork. Even if removing the cork was all he was doing it's obviously something that is not difficult to do or he wouldn't be able to do it. The French have more wine experience than us and probably know this party trick well. Most of the air in a wine bottle is displaced when corked and there is a lot pressure; that's why a cork makes that popping sound when opened. Placing the bottle in his shoe to cushion the impact from hitting it on the wall allows him to generate sufficient action/reaction force to push out the cork. A cork, after is not like a bottle cap. It is flexible, expands to adhere the slippery glass surface on the inside of the bottle neck. I'm not surprised it can be forced out in this way. I know I sound like a high school science teacher, which I am not, but that what makes the most sense to me. If there is a genuine science teacher out there who can correct me please do.”

Snowe Warns Reid On Public Option
Commented Oct 22, 2009 at 15:29:30 in Politics
“How dare these politicians, held prisoners of campaign cash or rigid ideology, tell the American people what we can or cannot have. Americans want this option and these so-called representatives should remember they are supposed to be the lobbyists for us.
This arrogance is the result of polticians too comfortable in their seats. Voters in every State must hold them accountable and not be bought off with pet project funding from a Senator or Congressman before the next election. If they do then they are no different than the politician who takes campaign cash and votes to protect their benefactor.”

Derivatives Reform Weakened By Two Little-Noticed Amendments

“I think these wimpy legislators have to be led by a massive public uprising that is more than just angry letters to newspapers and social networking sites. It has to be a coordinated, national response that threatens legislators in their local districts nationwide or nothing will change. Having individual legislators with the power to stop things by procedural tricks is the downside of our representative system of government. Why is no one organizing a massive demonstrations in Washington? Where is the progressive tea party movement? They have to be so big the mainstream media outlets cannot ignore covering them. None of these legislators will develop a set of balls until they fear losing their jobs more than the campaign cash.”

Fox's Glenn Beck Threatens To Kill Anyone Who Buys Blago Book
Commented Mar 05, 2009 at 10:14:18 in Politics
“You know what I found most interesting about his entire piece? He had no solution of his own offer. He had plenty of criticism for the government, economists, made an obvious attempt to show fairness by mentioning how he remembered when Bush was tinkering around with the economy, but really had nothing specifically to offer as a solution. Perhaps, by default, his position is to do nothing. Mr. Beck, I'm sure can afford to ride out whatever calamity that would ensue. Most Americans could not.
Beck completely ignored the culpability of the business community in causing this disaster, particularly the greedy people on Wall Street. The fact is our economic system needs a few alterations if it is ever going to serve the interests of the average American. Much more transparency, more regulation, and discipline to avoid creating more of the "creative" financing schemes such as derivatives, and zero down mortgages must be shown. While we're at it, let's reign in this hedge funds that give the high stakes gamblers an adrenaline surge, and allow many of them to avoid paying taxes to the U.S. Treasury.”

Sarah Palin's Clothes: GOP Lawyer Dispatched To Alaska To Retrieve Some
Commented Nov 09, 2008 at 11:41:40 in Politics
“Dispatching a lawyer to pick up her clothes? There's a dignified job for an "Office of the Court." You can probably tell that I don't like lawyers. When has a lawyer ever become involved in something and made it easier instead of more complicated? On top of that, they get to keep billing you while they do it.
Having unloaded my disdain, I must say that I think the GOP is being really petty. Why don't they just let her keep the clothes? She looks good in them and she will present a good image for the party. A Hockey Mom in $1000.00 shoes? Field dressing a moose in Armani? I just love the disconnect. When the Republican National Committee said they would donate the clothes to charity I thought I would fall off my chair laughing. Exactly what charity did they have in mind, the Women's Aid for Homeless Debutantes? Some have suggested putting the clothing on ebay. I wonder if Mike Huckabee will bid on the panties?”

“This story looks like Palin has broken the McCain-Feingold act on Campaign reform. Forget the irony, but this is a FEDERAL Law with Federal Punishments to be given out.
If Palin somehow keeps the clothes, and possibly if she doesn't, it is legally considered to be Taxable Income, and subject to Income Tax Law. If this doesn't get reported on 2008 income tax, someone may be in violation of another Federal Law.
And, if the clothes which are supposed to be "lost" are actually up in Alaska, this would be a case of "Grand Theft" considering the value of each item.
In a high profile case like this, there would be lots of attorneys who would be salivating to do this pro-bono.
What good is McCain's campaign finance legislation if people who voted for him are so willing to look the other way when its violated? What has come to this country anyway?”

“You can't be serious. I'm a Hillary supporter but this attempt to make selective edits and string them together to prove a point about Obama's character is ridiculous. I've been really impressed with him these past few days and will now feel better about supporting him in the general election should he be the nominee. Enjoy watching Obama and Hillary go at it now but after the convention we can turn our attention to the Republicans and proving what dismal failures they have been will be almost too easy.”
