“If she used the photo merely to depict the heroicism of the firefighters hoisting the flag up amongst the ruins, then where's the infringement? Postings on Facebook in the general area aren't for monetary gain.”

“She used the SaraPAC logo to encourage money be sent. That's where she crossed the line. Of course she doesn't think there's a line for her but she crossed the line. Why are all you commenter's saying it's okay for someone to steal someone else's original work for their own profit?”
“Ah, fish prejudice. We don't understand it and wind up harboring ignorance, therefore we judge its appearance. Not fair I say. This fish is beautiful to anyone who chooses to look deeper. It's what's inside that counts...save for a lack of muscle tone.”
“That's because no crime was committed. The teens drove off in the his mom's vehicle, but until she files charges, then it's not considered a theft. I'm thinking she won't do it. And running away is not considered a crime in Michigan. I think they're going to have a stern talking to, after the parents express relief that they were found safe.”

“We don't have the full story here, but, think about it. If you were the parent who's vehicle is missing and you kid is missing, wouldn't you tell the police (franically) that someone stole your car and your kid is missing? Or would you tell them that "Gee, my kid is missing and so is my car, but that is ok because my son probably just took it to run away." I would guess that the charge was made initially, and now the police need to decide whether on not to drop the charges.”

“Driving without a license.
And since if they ran away you can be pretty sure some level of sex was involved----Statutory Rape (state) and Mann Act (federal)”

“There is still a crime that has been committed, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving without a license.”
“She found it working on their time and on their premises. If no one comes foward, then It's considered sort of "intellectual property" similar to an employee writing a computer program or creating some sort of device that benefits the company, and that program or device becomes the property of the company. The employee did the right thing. IF the owner comes forward, the boss asks around to see who may have found that money if it wasn't turned in. That's a pretty big chunk of change for no one at Goodwill to have come up with it. Then you have a uncomfortable situation where SOMEONE has to admit keeping it. In this case, she gets a nice financial reward. She'd have $1,000 that she wouldn't have had otherwise.”

“that's true, too, it's $1000 she did not have; I just put good will stores put it to good use, a scholarship for a good student who is very poor, a single mother who is struggling to pay her rent, or something. Like young people say: just sayin'”
“I don't have any privacy issues. People don't care what I put on Facebook. I get 3 likes and usually about 2 comments. I finally went on a retro page where folks DO comment, and none of them are likely to steal my identity anytime soon. Unless I look better than they do, then just maybe...just sayin'”
“And here I am, at Starbuck's sipping a Frapuccino, enjoying a peaceful evening, my team just won its ballgame, and I spent time at the pizza place enjoying the ballgame with people I enjoy...all while reading your post of doom.
Here's the scoop:
We still have face to face meetings, but more and more these exchanges are on computers. Just the facts ma'am...
Simpler times have never existed. Read 1960s accounts of what life was like with people up in arms over Viet Nam, the Watergate Scandal, and baseball's first player strike in 1973.
America is still here. And it's still great...ask the scores of people from other countries who proudly take the Pledge and then make a beeline to the Voter Registrar.
Stuff happens, the liberals survived Bush without leaving the country, and the conservatives will manage the same with Obama.
Take home message: don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy life, change the things you can, accept the things you can't, and seek the wisdom to know the difference.”
“Well, first off Scott didn't go off on Ricks. He politely ended the segment when Ricks exuded more of an agenda against Fox (twice folks...twice) than in talking about the incident that Scott had him on the air for (Ricks said that he thinks the hit lasted "about half as long as planned.")
Second, it's common knowledge that Fox is going to be attacked for being the "wing of the Republican Party." I don't know one liberal/Democrat who doesn't exclaim that notion. But then there's Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews who are clearly liberal and who expound on liberal agendas and yes...levying shots at Fox News who isn't suffering from the barbs. They just sit in front of the camera and leave the other cable news people out of it.
Bill O'Reilly is the only one I know of who frequently talks about the other networks, because they're always bringing HIM up and the station.”
“Mitt Romney lost the popular vote by 2 million votes, and held the lead for half the night. How does that equate to Republicans not being self aware and turning people off? The election was called when Ohio, a swing state went to Obama. That indicated the election was very close.”

“332 to 206? Close?”

“The article is about the two million and electoral college difference.”
SoDoSomething on Nov 9, 2012 at 18:21:38
“Mitt never held the lead. You are confusing the order votes were counted with "leading". The total number of votes cast is a given number, you either win or lose. Same with Ohio. The votes there were just counted before Florida's or Virginia's. Romney would have lost even if he won Ohio.”
“There are racial connotations sure, but according to the Urban Dictionary it's also referenced as "dodging the truth." Somehow I think that that's what she's referring to. The roots of the term have extensive etymology that go back to slavery and the early 20th century, such that to immediately point towards racism on her part is ridiculous beyond belief.”
“OMG...the drama! I was expecting something serious with maybe the Dragnet theme (how WOULD Joe Friday have introduced this on his TV show), but the hamster being the villain was too much...LOL. The line "this hamster will be happy to be back at its own wheel" was perfect. So true. Imagine a hamster being needed in a court of law as evidence, but was fed to a snake before its day in court. "Da da da da...da da da da da...the story you are about to hear (see) is true, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent." BTW, that's one cute hamster!”
