“Adele isnt a threat to Black music she's a great artist period. And rap has always been about battling and competition amongst other rappers. That's just its nature”

“Thank you. That goes to show how little some people know about the history of hip hop.

Rap battles are what nurtured and fed the growth of hip hop. Nothing better than watching a group of brothers go at it trying to out rhyme each other. Just spittin' lyrics like fire. THAT is what elevated hip hop into an art form and the beast of the genre.”

“I think the point this person was making was that we as Christians no longer live by what was called The Law. Like he or she said, before Jesus fulfilled the Law, certain things were punishable by death. After Jesus, we received grace and forgiveness of sins. The Bible says the wages of sin is death so Jesus had to die to pay that price. After he died we no longer have to pay for our sins through those kinds of consequences. He or she translated it right. We don't go by the Law anymore because of Jesus......but if you don't believe in him or God, then you won't care anyway”

“and personally i don't believe that the emphasis on testing dilutes the safer sex messaging. the testing emphasis keeps people from unknowingly infecting others with a disease they might not even know they have. i understand that you may see it as a contradiction but for the people who are having unsafe sex thinking "that will never be me, I will never get HIV/AIDS, he/she doesnt look sick" teaching about testing is what they need. but for those who are negative and plan on staying negative, the safe sex message is the way. hopefully those who have unprotected sex will get a clue one day. a lot of the people who get tested are thinking "oh man i had sex with so and so i should go get tested just in case" there is nothing wrong with that”

“i didnt use insults or comments like that to reply to your posts so please dont do that with me and dont tell me what i should learn. thanks. and my thoughts are very organized. i had to separate the posts because there was a word limit to each post. in the article they said that the test shouldnt be taken too soon after, the tester should wait a few months, the test isnt even out yet so there may very well be a disclaimer that says to wait. and you will still have your beliefs about how the tests are marketed but opinions are opinions. my point about the whole vaginal fluid thing was to prove that yes men can get HIV from a female. one of the things that was first said about the virus was that it was a "homosexual's disease" but as time passed they realized it can be spread heterosexually. i know some men are on the down low but not every man who got it had sex with a man. but as i said before it is your opinion.”

“and i just researched how HIV can be spread just to be sure and every site had vaginal fluid as an answer...yes HIV is found in vaginal fluids....which increase to a very high amount during sex...got this from a site "HIV is found in the sexual fluids of an infected person. For a man, this means the pre-come and semen fluids that come out of the penis before and during sex. For a woman, it means HIV is in the vaginal fluids that are produced by the vagina to keep it clean and to help make intercourse easier." and i also got this "If a woman with HIV has sexual intercourse without a condom, HIV could get into the man's body through a sore patch on his penis or by getting into his urethra (the tube that runs down the penis) or the inside of his foreskin (if he has one)."....and this supports what i said early on”

“Learn to organize your thoughts so you can get some boundaries instead of these multiple, meandering posts.

The incidence of female to male HIV transmission in the US is minuscule. A vanishingly small possibility means to look at what's more likely as a transmission possibility: Some men are on the down low and make up alternate explanations.

These home testing kits are marketed as ways to insure your sex will safe [sic]. It's idiocy. The buyers have no clue about the delay in antibodies showing up. The profit seeking emphasis on testing dilutes the safer sex messaging.”

“you keep downplaying getting tested like it is a bad thing. yes i believe people should take responsibility and use condoms or just not have sex at all...but for the people who have already messed up...yes they need to be tested. how will they know if they arent tested? i guess they should just wait until their immune systems fail completely. in the article they even stated the test isnt 100% ready yet. they stated what you said about the antibodies not showing up until later. but i know that my race does have a problem with being ashamed to go to a clinic and be seen like that. people who are knowingly having unprotected sex...no matter how wrong that may be...should be regular tested...but yes safe sex education should continue...”

“well to respond to what you said about how HIV can move from a male to female and also to respond to what you said about there not being much fluid in the vagina i will say this....i am a female and, not to be vulgar, but during intercourse there is A LOT of fluid in the vagina for lubrication and it increases the more the woman is aroused. The vagina is generally a moist place anyway. The only obvious way a man could get it through intercourse would be through the hole in the penis....i never said that there was a huge possibility a man could get it. but as history as shown, just because there is a small possibility that something could happen doesnt mean it can't happen. in response to what you said about communities and this may be because im black but i KNOW that people come to communities and talk about safe sex...B.E.T even has the "wrap it up" campaign that aims at bringing awareness to people about safe sex, these are the reasons i say i dont know why you are saying that community education has gone down because i see with my own eyes and hear the conversations about using condoms or abstaining.”

Jeremy Bursac on Oct 16, 2012 at 22:14:40

“Oh sure, lots of men say they got HIV from a woman during vag inal intercourse. (Down low.)

Explain to me exactly how HIV is transmitted from a vag ina to a penis with a non immune compromised male. Be specific about how that transmission actually occurs.

I know you'll come up with something, but I am well informed that statistically it's an extremely remote possibility. This has been known for decades. There's very little HIV in fluids, HIV is very fragile, there's very little fluid in the vag ina (relative to what happens in male to female transmission,) and there are not easy routes into the male's bloodstream.

This is all very different from what happens in an al intercourse without condoms.”

“Safer sex education, particularly explicit, community based safer sex education, has been scaled back mightily in all contexts since the advent of the testing and anti retro viral emphasis from public health authorities.

MJ's involvement in this absurd, ineffective home testing kit - remember the antibodies will take weeks to months to show up - demonstrates this. It's obvious, meaning you can't follow along.”

“he has to emphasize testing AND condoms because obviously people aren't using condoms. so you have to talk about both. i guess you are implying that people dont need to be tested for HIV....if they dont get tested they dont know. he emphasizes both. the testing is for after the talk about using condoms doesn't work which, since we see how the virus is growing, obviously isn't. some people dont listen/care about wearing condoms”

Jeremy Bursac on Oct 16, 2012 at 15:38:45

“Some very basic information:

Testing is not reliable (for purposes of having sex without condoms) because antibodies take time after HIV transmission to show up in a test.

Public and pharma policy has been to abandon community based safer sex education, since it's too shocking - condoms for an al or vag inal intercourse unless you want to trust your life to your partner's say so - and not profitable enough.

I already acknowledged some people don't respond to anti smoking campaigns. That is no reason to jettison those campaigns.

Too difficult?

I note you "forgot" to address the curious matter of how this public figure, who profits from the tests he's emphasizing, sero converted. How that would happen in a first world country from female to male escapes me except as an academic, improbably matter. (Hint: I think he's a bit of fraud in a couple of ways.)”

“"a lot of music producers use macs for a reason obviously."

Two actually. One, they are already used to the interface and software or, two, they bought into BS hype left over from the 90s that is no longer real.

"you stopped using a mac for music in 2000...that's 12 years."

Correct. Sadly for Apple, particularly as they've tried to brand themselves as the "artist's" tool, Microsoft absolutely destroyed them when it came to an x64 OS by years. That's a big deal if you do multimedia creation. Macs do not make it "easier" at this point. They haven't since the 90s. They are, quite simply, exactly the same now, which took Apple years (Apple didn't have a native 64bit version of Logic until 2010 and they didn't have a native 64bit version of Final Cut until X in 2011). I simply see no rational reason to pay more for either the same or less.”

Talking points that simply aren't founded in reality. Compared to some Acer or Dell peace of garbage? Sure. But, by no means the rule.

"most people who do multimedia have macbook pros or iMacs."

Most of them are slaves to marketing, as there hasn't been a single thing one could do with a Mac that you couldn't do with a PC since 2000. I say that as someone who used Macs for music creation up until that time. Once ASIO drivers were released for Windows 2000, there was no longer any performance edge to be had on a Mac.

"have you used any of the recent macs like the newer macbook pro?”

Used, Yes. Owned, no. I got rid of my last MAcbook Pro (a G4) somewhere between 2004-2006. I've never been one to say they are bad machines. But, for the past decade, they've been ridiculously overpriced for what they offer.”

“You're reading me wrong. I've never been one to say that Apple computers sucked since OS X. However, when it comes down to it, as far as the user experience is concerned, no, it's no different than your current Microsoft alternative at the time for what you can do for the most part (I'll not the only one was 64 bit computing which Microsoft had the edge on, but that really only mattered for professional multimedia producers, and it was an advantage rather than a deal breaker). That's thr turth that the silly Apple vs. Microsoft battle wants you to ignore. At one point in time, this wasn't the case. I used to swear by my Macs for multimedia production, but they got destroyed on that front later down the road. Thus, in the end, the only true difference is price if you subscribe to the notion that you only have two choices. Every time I bring this up, I get labeled a "Mac hater," despite the fact that I've owned multiple Apple machines and used to do tech support for the Apple platform for major corporations. It's no longer the 90s. Yet, the silly marketting and the talking points that com out of the platform wars act as if it still is.”
