10 Ways To Deal With Difficult People

“What is speaking to someone on a soul level?”

“I wrote this poem about our buttons being pushed by difficult people -- perfect for the holidays!
MIRROR-CLE AT THE BUTTON FACTORY
I'm visiting my family, the 'button factory' it's called
because that's where all of my buttons were installed.
My mom's buttin' in and I feel appalled.
I'm buttoning my lip and try to hide that I'm galled.
My brother is so sensitive, so easily offended.
I tiptoe through the minefield, afraid I’ll be upended.
My sister is obsequious, and smiles through gritted teeth,
hiding all her real feelings that lie underneath.
I'm trying to avoid my buttons being pushed.
I'm wrestling with my feelings and I am bushed.
I'm barely succeeding in holding my tongue,
when snap! I finally lose it and come all undone!
That shakes me wide awake and I begin to see
that everything I judge in them is also in me!
The button factory is like a house of mirrors
reflecting back to me all my disowned terrors.
As I face and embrace each rejected part
I experience my family with more love and heart.
I can see that we all are parts of the same whole.
I can feel that we're connected, that we are one soul.
Now the years have passed, and so has my mom.
I miss the button factory and our gatherings at home.
But the buttons are still in me and they’re letting me know
I need to love every part of me, and let my judgments go.”

“Hi elimenez - great question
I was talking with Tara when it came up that we often talk to the personality rather than the person.. the one without the 'ME'
it is the impersonal self that is not caught up in the drama's and story .. the real you
that aspect of who we really are without the baggage.
So call it as Tara said on a soul level .. or true self .. it is heart to heart and unconditional
I hope that helps.
BE THE CHANGE - MEDITATE

“Don't know for certain, but here is my take on the subject. Often when dealing with a difficult situation I try and address the situation on a factual and logical basis and this method resolves many issues. When it does not, a new approach needs to be taken. People judge life situations based on their prior experiences and sometimes fall back into the thinking pattern of an old or reoccurring wound and then become stuck. When this occurs it becomes important to use empathy and listening try to understand what patterned thinking is holding the person back. It can be useful to show the person you care and ask questions on a continued deeper level until the old wound resurfaces. Only when the old wound is in the open can it be dealt with and eliminated. This elimination is addressed by finding a non judgmental and caring way to show them that the old thoughts no longer serve them and releasing them will bring them peace. That is that releasing will bring them much more peace than the patterned thinking is protecting them from feeling the old wound. Sometimes I use examples from my life experiences to show how I released old issues.”

“Simple. Couple 20th and 21st century development and progression of womens roles towards financial and professional individual accomplishment, despite thousands of years of evolutionary roles being geared towards familial development and management, with unrealistic expectations of what their relationships with men (that they all are princesses that deserve knights in shining armor) and this should not be shocking.”

“Bull. Give women the awareness that they can do pretty much anything that men can do (the only REAL jobs that are one or the other are sperm donor and wet nurse) then put them in a society that pretends to support equality but is in fact run by men who want the "little woman" to stay home and keep the house clean and the kids quiet.”
The Sad, Shocking Truth About How Women Are Feeling
Commented Sep 17, 2009 at 21:16:58 in Living
“Oh this is simple. Women have departed from the constraints or more aptly defined, the learned boundaries of their evolutionary roles, specifically with their lowered emphasis on maintaining a family, and society's constant emphasis of the need for women's individual financial and professional capabilities. There's nothing wrong with that, in fact many women have contributed irreplaceable work for society, science, and culture. With that said the rapid development in the 20th and early 21st century, this has gone despite the thousands of years of an evolutionary role, in just a span of a hundred years. Societal underpinnings have outpaced biological ones. Finally, mix in the standard expectations thrust upon women, that they are all entitled to an infallible knight in shining armor, a cultural inclination on meeting a certain standard of physical "beauty" and unrealistic standards of what relationships should be and it is not surprising that unhappiness is the trend.”

“I think this is exactly right. We should remember that we're barely four decades into the sexual revolution and even less further along into fully integrating women into the workplace. This is a pretty short time for society to undergo such a drastic shift. Women are having a tough time dealing with the whole marriage, kids, career balance because neither individuals nor society are yet adapted to these changes. Sorry, but it may take a few more generations (and perhaps more than that) before women as a whole start going up the happiness chart.”

Crimes Against the Soul of America
Commented Sep 08, 2009 at 23:54:25 in Living
“The many are controlled by the elite few, as it has always been. Your article from a certain standpoint appears presumptous that somehow the "soul" of this nation is inherently unique. We have never broken the ritualistic and tribal oppresions of the most archaic impulses of human nature. It is all encompassing and transcends any drawnpolitical boundary or geographic location. We fear what is different. We become defensive when fear appears in the form of a specific threat. We fight for resources and we horde whatever we gain. So it has been for 200,000 years or more. Until we break the very impulsive nature of the flesh it will be the same, hopefully to lessening degrees.”

Is There A Formula for Happiness?

“Oh and as the old famous saying goes.... happiness is fleeting. I tend to consider the overall mood state of an individual much like a sinuisoidal curve, an oscillation, with a frequency, one is never happy all the time nor is one unhappy all the time. We have no baseline as our mood states are purely cyclical. Our coping mechanisms always assure homeostasis, which oddly enough is linked to our insular cortex.”

“I hate to sound like a bugger Tara Stiles, but I would suggest you read some medical journals on neurology, the insular cortex, homeostasis, and empathy's biological foundations. I bet that would expand and add a realistic dimension to your otherwise abstract and and inherently subjective opinions. I'm not suggesting that a person must have a medical degree to achieve more accurate philosophical observations, or even that one should dismiss abstract and purely reactionary critiques, but that rather than merely discuss the effect you can actually understand the cause.”

The effect of children has been us having more "quickies" and fewer multi-hour sessions, but we aren't having fewer sessions, overall.
I think it depends on the couple.”

“What changed I think is Obama's more committed willingness to attack inside Pakistan. He didn't stop air strikes and in fact I think increased them. Pakistan does not want to deal with an increased US presence insider their borders. Additionally, Cenk hit it dead on, the Pakistani people are increasingly angrier towards the Taliban due to their attacks on innocents and imposed Sharia law. A new government doesn't hurt either, considering how Musharaff was unwilling to act. These are the seeds that have come to fruition.”

“I hate to disagree with you because I strongly support women's rights especially in Muslim dominated cultures, but this is kind of like danged if you do and danged if you don't. If Pres. Obama were to emphatically impose American assertions of our cultures treatment of women over other nations then it's looked at as American arrogance and assumed exceptionalism. People might even call it imperialism. If Obama doesn't explicitly denunciate it, then it might be called "Politics at its best". The line is drawn and clear, do we impose our American ways of democracy and equal rights on a sovereign nation just because we don't agree with the their government or do we support the will of their people?”

“What inspires the vitriol is your strict adherence to an ethos that is not only uniform and homogenous among your ilk, (journalists on cable shows and conservatives), but is unrelenting and bold faced when confronted with a factually based view point. Of course all of your criticisms aren't based purely on facts, but you have an unabashed and undeterred ability to maintain on message. Your points are predictable, and I've yet to consider you provocative. You are not McCarthy, because realitistically you aren't nowhere near that controversial. Your points are strictly in line with what every other conservative is saying.
It's a humorless display of how your oblivious to even your own body language when you address the issue of Mika. Whatever the reasons for her actions, the ridicule is merely a reaction, an effect, a symptom of the overall perception of her role on the show. People have a natural reaction, mostly imperceptible nonetheless highly focused, to the projection of your synergy with Mika. You speak over her often, at times she is left with no comment or even a single relevant question when you interview a guest, and there are numerous occasions where you overwhelm her personal space. It generates a sympathetic laugh, but yields to despair when Mika literally has to lean sideways to avoid your encroachment. But that's the issue with the current content of your party, and that is of a movement oblivious to their environment.”

“Paul, didn't you write Wolverine: Origin? If you did, it was great work man. Relative to the topic at hand, didn't the U.S. Gov't release a study showing how white males would be the minority by 2042. That's a long ways off, but the trend is indicative of an increase in ethnic diversity, not a lessening, which means it will get harder and harder for the GOP to win while remaining homogenous and we already elected a bi-racial president, which does not bode well for the Grand Ole Party.”
