So far I haven't seen any information regarding the % of abortions now paid through private insurance. I just don't think that the number is high.
And I haven't seen any information regarding the % of private, employer-based plans now that cover abortion. Again, I don't think that number is high.”

“You have confused fact with religious belief.
I do not believe a fetus is a 'baby' until it is viable outside the womb.
It is scientific fact that a fetus does not have a developed brain stem until aroudn the end of the 2nd trimester and therefore it is physically impossible for it to have feeling or thought or consciousness with an unattached brain stem. That is NOT a baby. Is it 'killing' when you turn off the machine of a brain dead relative?
Don't mistake opinion for fact..”

“But your analogy is deeply flawed because the brain dead adult relative will not recover full human function if merely left alone, while the fetus will.
And even using your own standard, you should be opposed to Roe V Wade, since that decision made abortion legal long past any notional date of viability. That date of viability is constantly in flux as well as the science of caring for premature births advances. There are even researchers working on entirely artificial wombs that could in theory be used to gestate a fetus for the entire nine months.”

“Define "viable." Never-mind, I will: capable of living or surviving successfully. So for you it's not a "baby" until it is capable of thought? When is that, precisely? What about later in life when someone suffers a head injury or stroke or Alzheimer's causing them to lose their ability to think. Should we be permitted to euthanize those folks (just call it a REALLY late-term abortion)? So to answer your question, "yes" turning off the machine and ending the life of a brain-dead relative is "killing" (and "NO" we shouldn't be permitted to euthanize a stroke victim or Alzheimer's patient).”

“Obama has had the most successful first year of any American president since LBJ revolutionized America in the mid-60's, and made the victory of an Obama possible. The carping about Obama is par for the course for the dumb, spoiled, whiny perfectionism that has characterized "left" youth culture since the 60's. No wonder the disciplined, focused, and effective right wing of this country has crushed the wimpy left for FORTY years. UNTIL Obama. Obama's already brought America out of the Great Recession and saved us from the Great Depression II. He's going to get a strong healthcare bill in the end--and if enough "progressives" get as active as the right is and FRIGHTEN the wavering Democrats into voting for it, a public option to boot. He's wisely taking his time to get serious about Afghanistan, a war of NECESSITY, as Obama has wisely always said it is. And he's done more for black Americans symbolically--which is huge in our culture--than anyone since King. Plus lots of small improvements to boot. Those "disappointed" in him are totally unrealistic. "Disappointed" compared to what president? Do they think they'd have been totally satisfied with Lincoln or FDR in their first years?”

WellTickleMeWillie replied on Oct 21, 2009 at 13:05:49
“I don't accept your premise that ONLY the privatre sector creates jobs. It is easily disproved by looking at the US budget allocated to the military industrial complex which employs lots of people and the gov't is responsible for 100% of that employment. Add the military, homeland security and all the other gov't jobs and you can account for alot of employed people. The private sector has been shedding jobs for decades as investments and entire industries have been globalized elsewhere. So if capitalism is the savior, why has it not worked over the last few decades since Raygun. The simple truth is that greed trumps what's good for America. And chasing the profits by outsourcing to other countries is good for capitalists and bad for Americans.”

Reagan's trickle down theory is been proven wrong. The private sector is NOT creating jobs and giving them $4000 to hire an employee to sell something that no one is buying is not going to do anything.
Our country must continue to invest in our country to rebuild it.
