The 3 Biggest Lies About The Keystone XL Pipeline

The 3 Biggest Lies About The Keystone XL Pipeline

Commented Feb 10, 2014 at 19:14:14 in Green

“The real issue here is how people who live in rural areas get the shaft by their state and federal govts under the guise of energy advancement. I find it hard to understand why anyone living in the states the pipe will run through would support this.”

PERPLEXED IN TEX on Feb 10, 2014 at 19:48:14

“Easy to understand. They will get paid royalties for leasing the land. And a year after construction, they can resume growing crops or grazing cattle on the land. Also the pipeline company will have to pay their annual property taxes. That is what the Nebraska Environmental Quality Department says and I see the same thing happening in pipeline easements in Texas.”

“This last comment makes no sense though bc the seat of govt is in DC. Where else should politicians live while congress is in session ? Common sense dictates they would reside in the DC metro area.”

jtrews on Feb 8, 2014 at 09:44:01

“common sense says they would reside where the people they represent live so that those people know who he or she is yes?

so that they could go to his office yes?

you know we have a representative form of government right?

our representatives are supposed to know about our interests and wants in government not what the lobbyists want yes?

how do you do that if you spend all your time in DC?”

Commented Feb 6, 2014 at 20:01:38 in Politics

“The attorney spokeswoman for one of those veterans group said on a MSNBC show that the problem with the sexual assault issue in the military is the great divide between the upper brass and the junior enlisted. The upper brass cannot relate to the concerns of the junior enlisted and they want to keep it within the chain of command however this is exactly how cases never get to the military courts because the brass even said this in the panel before the Senate that they value the time money and effort went into the training over a potential sexual assault claim. The real truth is that the brass thinks this is an issue that primarily affects women who are in the military and they don't want women in the military but they cant come right out and say That.”

“Whatever. The focus, as always, will still be on our American athletes. NBC does really great job of creating these packages that give you these back stories on our most prominent athletes competing in whatever Olympics is occurring at the time.

The clincher here was revealed by Billie Jean King in a recent NPR interview. Athletes are barred by the Olympics governing body from making political statements. Given the current climate in Russia they have made it extra clear in re political statements. However King said that if an athlete is asked a direct question by the press they may answer it. I'm gonna wait and see what happens.”
