“The effect of the debate sponsored by Intelligence Squared.
Topic: The Catholic Church is a force for good.
Before the debate 678 supported that view, 1102 did not support that view, 346 undecided.
After the debate 268 supported that view, 1876 did not support that view, 34 undecided.
I would say that Stephen Fry and his debate partner marshalled sufficient facts to persuade the bulk of the listeners supporting the Catholic Church to abandon it. Would that its parishioners did the same.”
“I bet the Conservative Victory Project Super PAC will rally behind McConnell. Matt Hoskins has been sliding into the libertarian alternate universe for some time now; that and the tea party attitudes make pretty good fits. Libertarian and Tea Party philosophies both are flimsy and don't stand up to logic.
The moderate republicans who have been keeping their heads down may take heart in the next few months when the CVP Super PAC really gets rolling. It will be interesting to see them start to defy the tea party on issues if they feel they have backing. McConnell should have learned by now that his pandering to the tea party got him nothing. They just now threw him under the bus. The tea party weirds exhibit natural hyena pack behavior. They can't help it. They will turn on anyone anytime.
Civil War II, Republican Style. Hope it is not too much of a bloodbath. I have always enjoyed ZA movies, but they also make me sick to my stomach a bit.”
“Yeah, that is what I just don't get. Has everyone really forgotten the uproar in 2005 and 2006? Back in the day when 'warrantless surveillance' was actually a buzzword (so much so that sometimes people would even have it as a user name!)
Snowden stole communications secrets with those thumb drives. I just hope that he inadvertently and stupidly did not download stuff that will wind up getting people killed. I don't believe he is a spy in that sense. I think he just wanted to be a big hero.”
“Because most of what is written there are lies and/or misinformation.
As I outlined in my comments.
I have no quarrel with ghost writing----I do have a quarrel with someone putting out lies or misinformation.”
“eh. The meaning of 'wheeling and dealing' is 1. complicated & sometimes dishonest agreements on trade-offs and 2. using a good opportunity to advantage. Biden pressuring for Snowden to be sent back here doesn't seem to fit either of those.
hm. The 'extralegal penalty of exile' is no such thing. The US did not exile Snowden; exile means the US will never let him return to US soil. Apparently, the US WANTS Snowden to return to US soil rather badly!
fie. Snowden is not a stateless person. He is still a citizen of the US, he has simply had his passport revoked. Passports get revoked all the time for a variety of reasons----revocation can be a condition of probation or even the issuance of a felony arrest warrant.
lah. The government has not quashed Snowden's right to seek asylum. It assuredly is trying to influence the grantor of asylum to not do so. But Snowden himself is free to go seek asylum whereever he likes.
Seems to me that whoever wrote this wants the American public to be UN-informed and angry and demanding.
That said, I actually have some sympathy with Snowden, and some disdain for him as well. My comments are directed solely at this specious, ill-informed, and misleading statement purportedly from Snowden. It is riddled with error.”

“I agree it was probably ghost written for him with his approval but so what?”
Look it up in any reputable medical website. The sensorimotor information is transmitted by TC & CT loop pathways.
These pathways do not begin to even form until the later part of the 2nd trimester---to be generous say they start forming during the 22nd to 24th week.
They take weeks to become established enough to transmit pain impulses.
Also, the brain itself is not fully developed in the cortical area to be involved in pain recognition.
I don't know what 'scientists' you are quoting---but you, and they, are in error.”
“Michele Bachmann could not talk even for thirteen MINUTES straight without screwing it up.
The best approach is not to talk? LOL. Since the filibuster was just that, your post is really unintentionally quite hilarious.”
It depends on how much pull the person who changed the time stamp has with any office that investigates such an outright abuse of power. In other words, no, this will be swept under the rug with all other such abuses of power.”

“Seriously this. They tampered with state records.”
“A hero IMO is one who puts herself in harm's way to save or help another.
Do you really think this woman has not put herself in danger? In TEXAS? They have killed doctors there with impunity!
Especially after the guv so innocently let 'slip' info about her personal life. There are plenty of people who would think nothing of offing the ho.
And that is not hyperbole.
I live in the next most disgusting state, Oklahoma. And even here I hear talk about 'going down there to give a little home correction to little Wendy'....”

“Really? You're hearing threats to Wendy? That's scary. (And I live in KS)”
“You mean 1% take place AFTER 20 weeks. But sometimes that is when the need for a therapeutic abortion is most dire. The most common reason for an abortion after 20 weeks is that the fetus has died. It will poison the mother. But this bill will not allow the medical procedure EVEN TO SAVE THE MOTHER'S LIFE.
The next most common reason is that gross abnormalities have been found---for instance brain abnormalities cannot be detected by MRI until after the 22nd week. Babies born with a half-brain, or no brain stem----life expectancy "very short and very terrible".
“I am gathering from this there will be another filibuster. I hope the galleries are packed with supporters, even more than last time. I hope it is covered on national TV. I hope that the observers shake tea down onto those obdurate legislators' heads. A fine sifting of tea leaves floating in air would make great visuals! No one would have to say a word.
Instead of Boston Harbor, the Texas Senate!”

“It sounds as if Perry is planning to have police on hand to arrest the protesters.”

“"I am gathering from this there will be another filibuster. I"
Nope. Not this time. Pro-life supporters will be in the gallery, along with Texas police and rangers. Now temperamental liberal disruption by the mob, and no filibuster from Ms. Davis. The bill will be passed and the majority of Texans will be pleased.”

“Perry and his shills will find a way to negate revolt or dissent. Since he can't get this taliban-style oppression of women done through legal channels, he will cheat. It's the Republican way.”
