“I guess you're mathematically challenged.
Deficit going down is the opposite of "blown up deficit spending more than any before him!", as you say. Children learn the difference between up and down before they enter kindergarten.”
The budget year (fiscal year) of the US Government runs from October to September!
Obama took office on Jan. 20th, 2009, it is a conveniently IGNORED FACT that Bush's budget runs through the end of September 2009, so Obama doesn't own any of that spending. It belongs to the Bush administration.
Now, at the end of September 2009 the US National Debt stood at $11,909,829,003,511.75, which means that Bush DOUBLED the debt from 6 Trillion to 12 Trillion during his 8 years as President, in a massive cloud of Republican hypocrisy and media complicity.
Obama inherited Bush's annual fiscal budget deficits (his annual red ink spending), but has only added 4.3 Trillion, which is a far cry from doubling the debt and an improvement from Bush's 6.1 Trillion.
Republicans and their acolytes, followers and voters are either liars or outright obtuse.
Bush First Budget Year begins 10/02/2000 So Clinton legacy debt is 5,661,548,045,674.53
Last Month of Bush Budget - Obama begins in Oct 2009
This is the number that Bush left to Obama and the rest of us.
This is where we are today
“weeellllll.....eventually, it will actually take a while to unwind the post Clinton, pre-Obama Bush Era "Cheney-fueled-Deficits-Don't-Matter" runaway 8 year long deficit spending that Obama and future Presidents will inherit.”

“Obama has blown up deficit spending more than any before him!”
“That is what the media should have reported on, is my point!
We should restore the higher corporate tax rates to corporations as it used to be....at least to pre-Clinton tax rates. Our children shouldn't get any tax increases, unless they are in the top 1-10% of income earners in the USA.”
bacar62 on Nov 11, 2013 at 12:10:29
“……so if we go back to previous tax rates can we also go back to previous spending levels (as a percent of GDP)?”
Through the maze of Wall St mirrors, sleight of hand, diversions and accounting magic, America owns most of its debt and no country will ever catch up to how much of our own debt we owe. China owns less than 5% of US debt, and no other country owns more than China. The smallest amount of US Debt held by any major western country is held by England, less than 1/2 Trillion...comical and telling!
Yet they try to misinform the public into fearing foreign ownership, which is impossible to happen because something far worse is being perpetrated.
Media picks up on the wrong aspect of the story, because "racism" is so provocative.
The real story is that:
China owns less than 2 Trillion of our 14-16 Trillion debt. Why should we be concerned?
Who needs to push this fearsome fallacy of future US subjugation to China?
The public owns 3.6 Trillion of the debt
The US Government owns 1.6 Trillion of the debt
The Social Security IOUs has 2.7 Trillion of the debt
(as of July 2011)
This puts half of the debt in our own "House of Mirrors". China is the least of our worries.
“Your comment is loaded with classic logical "False Equivalence".
Actually an even smaller group of Administrators decided that Ray Kelly should speak at Brown. The students decided they didn't want to hear Ray. They spoke louder and drowned him out. After all, he came to speak assuming that his message would be welcome. It wasn't. If he wanted to speak, he could have continued and just dealt with the raucousness, but it looks like he understood that his message was unwelcome.
At least Ray was shutdown by real human speech, not money that masquerades as speech decided by a small group in the supreme court. Now Billionaires can SCREAM louder than all working people put together and our democracy is broken.
Yes a small group can decide who they should listen to, which is different than a small group deciding who can speak. Not sure that you'll recognize the difference.
Universities are centers of learning, not brainwashing. Learning occurred. Ray came to peddle the immoral practice of "Stop and Frisk" as a legit police tactic. Immorality was rejected by students who are not interested in that lesson. It is known, understood and soundly rejected. An obscenity was prevented.
Moreover, the students do not represent a government body suppressing the rights of an audience, which is what "Free Speech" rights addresses. This was much more similar to a comedian being heckled than a police state arresting someone for having an opposing viewpoint.”
“Some will come here to complain about free speech. This free speech notion has been conflated. Free Speech ensure the right of citizens to speak without the government limiting that speech. So, ray kelly needs to do a better job of finding welcoming venues for his hate mongering. Clearly he wasn't welcome at Brown University as far as these protesters were concerned. He got the treatment he deserves.”

“He wasn't welcome by some, others did want to hear what he had to say...Like always Brown book smart Common Sense stupid”
ntwallace on Oct 30, 2013 at 12:06:28
“So a small group of protesters gets to decide who can speak? Can a small group of conservative students shout down any left wing speaker? Universities are supposed to centers of learning. Not places where close minded bullies decide what will be heard.”
“If Adolph Hitler was alive, there would also be know reason to hear him speak anywhere. You see the point is, yes there is free speech, but there is also this notion of OBVIOUSNESS, which precludes hearing some Civil and Human Rights violator explain why they should be considered a valued member of the human community. We don't want to hear fancy, eloquent rationalizations for HATE. History is littered with pretexts for violating Human and Civil Rights. In today's media, HATE needs to be shutdown, because these HATERS are shopping for the lowest most baseless among us who will be tricked into believing the HATERS, or they are looking to recruit fellow HATERS who haven't yet learned how to articulate their disease, thereby enabling them.
You should know better than that?
We have a right to bear arms too, would you hand a gun to a murder?
There are limits to free speech, especially when it come to hate speech. Ray Kelly represents HATE. He's smart enough to speak in coded language to rationalize the stop and frisk HATE policy, but the Students of Brown University enforced the rightful limit on his right to free speech.
Hope you get it. Don't be an enabler. Hate is like a virus. It needs this type of response. We don't want it in the air and we don't want it in our ears!!!”
“To accept this people have to acknowledge their culpability in the mess we are looking at and no one will do this. It is much easier to just explain things away, mental illness, criminal history, it is something wrong with that person not society as a whole. It also goes with the naivete of politicians who believe in the benevolent behavior of corporations. Think of how much of the stuff she is talking about was ushered in with raucous applause, even as those "critics and naysayers" said exactly what would happen even as the pens were inking the paper. The policy makers knew exactly what they were doing, they still know what they are doing.”

John F. Kennedy,

Corzine: I understand, but you put it in a tri-party, and then once the securities have started moving, then you move it back to the, um-- this is the same thing we did last night, they left it in the tri-party, the seg money.
To give Corzine a pass on this damning unambiguous self incriminating statement, especially since he is the CEO at that time the that he makes the statement, is for the U.S. to show how captured by the financial institutions our regulators really are. This is willful ignorance on the part of our regulators. No regular alleged criminal would get this kind of consideration...ONLY BANKERS!!!!”
“Snowden's actions, when compared to the Government coddled, uncharged, un-prosecuted, unpunished Bankers and Corporate leaders are hardly offensive. There will be no impact or harm felt by Americans for Snowden's actions. The Bankers and Corporate leaders hurt Americans and continue to do so through their Captive US Government Strategy.
Going after Snowden is a massive hypocrisy. The world is watching America, we are ashamed!”
