“The White House

October 16, 2009

Dear Mr. President,

Please strongly support the Public Option publicly now! We need to hear your voice. The People are counting on you to back up the promises you made.

We don’t want the insurance and drug companies to win at our expense again because we’ll lose, and so will you. I’d like to continue to support you, but won’t if you sell your “soul to the company”, man. For all the work you do, thank you, and congratulations for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Here’s where you can start earning it.

Respectfully,

““We must move beyond a dark and painful chapter of our history.” These words were part of the rationale supplied by President Obama as he released the Bush administration memos authorizing CIA operatives to torture 9-11 terror suspects. Rather than endangering the country, as former CIA director, Michael Hayden states, the release of these memos puts the United States back on the road of decency. Torture is illegal, and when laws, like the War Crimes Act, are broken, those responsible must be prosecuted.

President Obama said “nothing will be gained by spending our time and energy laying blame for the past.” Nothing is gained using half-way measures. “Mistakes are the portals of discovery.” It is now the responsibility of the Obama administration to appoint a Special Prosecutor because we can not move forward until we examine what we got wrong. The people who committed these terrible acts should be held accountable. The only way to ensure this does not happen again is to punish those responsible.”

“Thank You, CSPAN!

If the American public truly wants to be informed, CSPAN should be viewed regularly because it supplies information in context and completely (totalis). Take President Obama’s opening economic summit today, for instance. Americans need to think for themselves (logos). Instead, cable networks are concerned more about chattering, controversy, and ratings ad nauseum. They regularly reinforce the American public’s fears. MSNBC—a favorite channel of mine—cut off this summit from viewers to talk, talk, talk. I was pissed. What IS the real reason for their existence if not to inform the public completely? And we all know FOX NEWS is the worst. They continue to betray America. To Hell with Rupert Murdoch until he apologizes to the President publicly and fires that New York Post editor! We must know when to shut them all off.

P.S. President Bill Clinton should stop upstaging Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Senator Roland Burress (D-IL), even if he does give Roland a bad name, should be allowed to remain in the Senate, so long as Senator David Vitter (R-LA) remains. Congratulations, Sean Penn for advancing equal rights FOR ALL Americans (his acceptance speech was superb and gracious), and God bless President Barack Hussein Obama!

“...And the chattering class, of which President Obama often speaks, foments the fear too because they either report old news like it's new, tidbits out of context, or because they just want to create more conflict to increase viewership ratings. These cable networks--even Chris Matthews on MSNBC, though I am partial to MSNBC--are the modern-day "yellow rags" of yesteryear. Americans need to know when to turn them off!

The middle class and poor of this nation have been held hostage far too long by these economic traitors. People I know who voted for President Obama are now questioning me, afraid of what President Obama is "supposedly" doing. I try to set them straight as to who the real culprit-criminals are, but they're still afraid. Of course they're not as informed as they need to be either. And the Republicans are capittalizing on all this too. I guess, as a Boomer for Obama, I've been around long enough to know President Obama is the leader we deserve. To hell with Bush, Cheney, Wall Street, and the Republican Party!

P.S. Too bad so many Americans are still uninformed as to whom are real enemies are.

“Obama’s running mate is another balancing act!

More of Senator Hiliary Clinton’s supporters than Senator Barack Obama’s would love to have her end up being Obama’s vice presidential running mate. This is bad because Obama cannot run on a platform of change and have the Clintons back in the White House in any shape or form. Hillary as VP only makes sense if Obama is a phony. If he means what he has been saying about changing Washington, then he has to start with skipping what the "insiders" and conventional wisdom folks want. We need to turn the page on the disgrace and scandal of the past two presidencies.
Obama may need to pick someone fast to rebuild the support he is losing from Clinton supporters. The process will be another test of Obama’s skill and balance because he needs to pick someone who is strong on defense, more conservative than him, has lots of experience, appeals to females, blue collar, and Republican-Indpendent voters, and pacifies the racial tensions of white America.

P.S. Personally, since I'm behind changing the electoral map, I like any of these choices: Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, Governor Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas, Senator Jim Webb of Virginia, or Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio.”

“With faith, we march on to Waterloo!

Hiliary Clinton beat Barack Obama by 8 points in Pennsylvania. She obviously connected with the voters there. From Indiana, the Obama campaign asked for $100. Though a sacrifice, for the next two weeks, we must wage the war against Hiliary, Bill, and McCain. Come hell or high water, the People’s Revolution must succeed. Because she has loads of bills, a campaign that is broke, and her contributors are dried up, Hiliary doesn't have a prayer. “These are the times that try men’s souls.” Superdelegates need to pay Hiliary a visit to remind her how she’s tearing up the party. But, they probably still don’t have the moral backbone. Meanwhile, faith keeps us going: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

The bottom line now, Barack? You need to get into general election mode: attack McCain and Clinton on her mistakes, especially her incendiary, cowboy Iran rhetoric and other foreign policy blunders. Ordinary people want you to stop playing it “too cool!” Stand up before the disconnected media and ordinary people! Tell them why you love America. Connect more in Indiana and North Carolina! Go grocery shopping! Indiana is hers to lose; North Carolina is yours to lose! Make up the difference because May 6th is our Waterloo!”

I can truly tell you that we see an ingrained and almost unconscious mode of thinking from the media that America is not ready for a black POTUS.
Hillary goes negative and every one cries she is turning all voters off. Obama shoes restraint and instead concentrates on the issues, yet he is called a wimp. When he goes on the attack, which are usually sharp, direct and on the money, the media pudits go off on him, saying he is taking the low road. What should he do? We all say Hillary has tuned all of us off with her negative campaign, yet we go out and vote for her. America I am confused. There is too much back room politics going by the so called powers that be to ensure Obama does NOT get the nomination. He is doing something never done before in a campaign, and the powers that be are scared to death. He is telling the American people, yes you can get involved in politics and determine how your country is run.”

“May your own words bury you, Hiliary!

No, we don’t get to choose our family; but fortunately, we do get to choose our president. The current primary race has the American public bogged down in three wars: a war of words, our economic war, and our war in Iraq. The Good News is on all these fronts, Barack Obama is winning. Try as they have, the Clinton Machine has been unsuccessful in their swift-boat assaults on Barack Obama. He still leads—clearly out front with the most delegates and popular vote—and, the People believe he’ll be the best as steward for the economy and preparedness to be our next commander-in-chief. Even though the Clinton machine may claim a win is not necessarily a win, the People have heard and had enough!

As long as Hiliary Clinton insists on dragging this process out, the People lose. My prayer, and only ray of hope, is: “May your own words bury you. Amen!””

“Step aside, John McCain and Hiliary Clinton!

If we’re not yet the country we ought to be, and if we haven’t yet provided all Americans with the economic and social justice they’re entitled to, then it’s much too late for John McCain or Hiliary Clinton to expect the voters will back either of them this election cycle. For far too many election cycles, the candidates have pumped up the voters with the usual wedge issues, ad hominem attacks, platitudes, and promises. Then, once the election is over, you never ever see or hear from them. They don’t deliver on the promises and “do their own thing,” all at the voters’ expense.

En masse, the voters are after new leadership and a fresh start. This is why they’ve come out of the woodwork to take back their government. Finally, they believe they have the candidate who will deliver on the promises of the past. The media and rightwing blow hearts don’t have a clue how bitter the People have become, or over what, and that’s part of this excitement. Step aside, John McCain and Hiliary Clinton. “I'm still furious about ABC's Philadelphia Democratic Debate, featuring George Stephanopoulos and Charles Gibson. "All is fair in love and war," so John McCain should not be given the free ride by the media, let alone by George Stephanopoulos Sunday on This Week. When it's said the press likes McCain because his maverick status or because he grants them more access, that a smoke screen. McCain's out of touch with real Americans--like most of the media are--with no understanding of their economic or other inequities. He's a flip-flopper--like Hiliary Clinton. He supports long wars. He also says he supports our troops; yet, like President Bush, he really supports their continued brutalization by not supporting the new GI Education Bill. Ever since his return from Vietnam and the Keating Five incident, he's a man of questionable character. So there's plenty there for George Stephanopoulos to uncover--if he had the balls and was fair--starting with Cindy June Cleaver McCain's family recipes and the publication of his tax returns for the last two years. Get on with it, George!”

“It's a matter of trust!

Pope Benedict XVI’s U.S. message of hope and reconciliation has been Barack Obama’s message throughout his campaign for the presidency. Rather than bring any real change to last night’s Democratic Debate from Philadelphia, ABC host, and moderators, Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos chose instead to devote the first 50 minutes festering negatives, feeding wedge issues, and playing the guilt by association game. What a travesty, especially since, after grilling Senator Clinton on whether or not Barack Obama could win this fall, she emphatically admitted: “Yes, yes, yes!”

Millions of voters have figured out—no matter what the media or the Clintons have thrown at Barack Obama—that he connects with the People. Polls show Senator Clinton high on baggage and negatives and low on trust and honesty. Last night, she said: “What’s important is what we stand for!” Millions of Americans agree.

Barack Obama believes we can solve today’s real issues by changing the culture in Washington, D.C., or as Senator Clinton said: “We’ve got to come together!” Voters will elect Barack Obama president because only he has the 21st century mindset to solve the issues we face today. Under his leadership of reconciliation, the hopes and dreams of millions of Americans will be realized. Together, we will end the Iraq War, rejoin the world community, restore economic and social justice here at home, and break the mold of the Bush-Clinton Era. God bless America and Barack Obama!”

They have been blind for far too long. They have no shame; therefore, no one to blame but themselves for their implosion. It’s payback time! “What goes around, comes around.” As a white, Boomer, parent, grandparent, and retired teacher of English and American history, I respect where Reverend Wright is coming from because I’ve despised the white supremacy chapter. I laughed out loud when Senator Clinton, speaking about President Bush's latest stance on Iraq this week, said something like: "I will face reality and bring our troops home." One thing everyone knows how to do there in Washington, D.C. is shift the blame. The Congress and the Media are just as guilty if this matter is not pursued. Haven't we learning anything since Watergate and the Clinton impeacment? No president or administration is above the law! The appropriate congressional commitees must hold hearings. Another week of President G.W. Bush’s surge publicity of mixed messages and fake debate, plus a complete mess on the Iraq War aside, our next commander in chief inherits a game where the rules have been changed yet again, a sloppy Iraq occupation, a general who supports and speaks for the former-president’s policies there, a permanent mission with benchmarks still unmet, Iraqis who have not stepped forward and want us out, no plans to draw down our troops there in the short term, no surge diplomacy at work in the area, and a frustrated legislative branch and American public.

G.W. has truly screwed things up and left us completely drained! So much so, our next president must rally the entire nation, if not the world, to the proposition that we are all in this together, and—as we turn the page to move forward—it will take the sacrifice to make things right again. To accomplish this will take some time, but if we are united, we can get it done!

Let history judge the current president. We must not settle for success that is fragile. With a surge in international diplomacy, our next president must calm down the world, bring this war safely to a close in real time, and restore trust and economic justice here at home. This is no small order, indeed.”

“It’s we the people, stupid!

We the people want change. Welcome to the Clinton drag race. A majority of voters won’t tolerate a Clinton coup of the nomination. This same majority also wants to turn the page with our first post-Boomer president.

Face it, Senator Obama is the best candidate. He has weathered the Reverend Wright storm, and will all the others to come, plus continue to reassure and unite the country as he goes forward. Senator Clinton can’t do any of this! Whatever the Clinton apparatchiks and media spinners say, the Clintons themselves are so in denial and passé. Republican spinners want this race to “play out,” as a Democratic Party implosion favors them and Senator McCain’s chances. As long as the Clinton oligarchs of yesteryear hold on, Hilary Clinton's negatives go up further, and McCain gets a free pass.

The People deserve a new generation of leaders. McCain’s just more of the same too. The old warrior was wrong on the Iraq war initally, wants to stay in the midst of their civil war, and offers no specifics on our current economic mess: a result of the Bush war and his greedy, pro-war corporations.

Senator Clinton needs to gracefully bow out of the race soon if she’s to have any public career left. As one of the party’s finest leaders poignantly observed: “She has every right, but not a good reason.” God bless America!”

“Wow! You sure have a lot of faith in Obama!

Unfortunately, it's built on hollow rhetoric.”

“Maybe Obama should bow out gracefully, he can't get the needed delegates either.”

“Garbage in, garbage out!

We are responsible, as educated voters in a participatory democracy, to be educated on the many issues affecting our lives. We must intelligently research the candidates’ positions for ourselves. Each election, getting at the truth becomes more difficult. We’ve allowed extremist spinners to do our thinking and set our agenda for far too long. If we’re ever going to take our government back, we must stop being lazy, easily fooled, think for ourselves again, do our own research, and demand we set our own agenda with the facts, reason, and knowledge. We must also get back to believing in the liberal idealism of the founders!

We must haul all the garbage to the dumpster where it belongs. “This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.” (Benjamin Franklin).

“That government is the strongest of which every man feels himself a part.” (Thomas Jefferson). Real change comes as the People participate. We’ve had enough of the fat cats, the lobbyists, the hate-mongering extremists, the spinners, and the liars? “Old habits lock us down…we cannot wait; the time is now.” We must turn the page to real change and A More Perfect Union in the 21st century and the leadership of Barack Obama.”

Bill Clinton To Obama Campaign: "Let's Just Saddle Up And Have An Argument"

“Go away, Bill and Hiliary!

Today Bill Clinton today said, “Let’s fight!” That’s so disingenuous because his wife’s the candidate behind in this race, the rules never apply to both the candidates on the Democratic side, and many of the voters are so sick and tired of the negative politics for a long time now.

Barack Obama is ahead in this race, so why should he want to fight? That’d be stupid! Candidates who are behind always want to continue the fight. Besides, it’s Bill Clinton who’s calling for the fight, not Hiliary. Bill Clinton is NOT the candidate. He’s a former candidate and a former President who, as titular head of the Democratic Party, is pushing his weight around and being a damn bully, acting very un-presidential, and recklessly ruining the Democratic Party in the process. Also, whenever the Obama campaign staff or the media have taken on Hiliary, the Clinton camp has always whined and wanted them all fired immediately. So who are they kidding? Millions of Americans want the dirty politics to stop, and the Clintons, and their supporters, just don’t get the message.

It’s always been about the Clintons and how the rules apply to everyone else, but them. As long as they keep up this gutter politics and act like spoiled brats, they will bring on more and more of their own negatives, ruin our chances in the fall, and may very well destroy the Democratic Party in the process.”
