If you're going to throw a useless comment out there like that, you could try clarifying it.”

“Sorry, but nothing can take away the lure of a perfectly cooked steak sizzling on the grill....

or a juicy burger...or chops.....

mmmm....pass the A-1 please....”

ProfessorBrooks replied on Nov 11, 2009 at 13:07:10

“Incidentally, if you are worried about E. Coli from ground beef which often has dubious or unknown origins, as I am, try buffalo burger instead. It is available at my local Whole Foods, is leaner and tastier than ground beef, and comes to market through a process that does not run the E.Coli risk. You can have a medium rare buffalo burger without the worry--and once you try it...mmmm, so good, you will be happy to pay the higher price for it. The other option for safe burger is to buy a steak and grind it yourself (idea picked up from Alton Brown)--seems that a lot of American ground beef is from unknown parts of cows from disparate locals, making it almost impossible to safety check.”

grumpyfarmer replied on Nov 11, 2009 at 08:22:59

“I am so thankful to read this comment. Hopefully you know your steak and burger are NOT the result of boundless animal cruelty and destruction to the environment, as so many would like for you to believe.”

“Basically, Sarah figured this auction was like a Popularity Contest to find her #1 fan...The more you bid on her, the more you liked her. Like those auctions where a sexy bachelor gets auctioned off to a bunch of hornyoldwomen.

She wasn't about to sit down with anything less than an adoring fan fawning at her feet.”

“Would you like to explain just WHAT Obama has done to "disrespect" white people that he deserves this kind of rhetoric???”

peacespy replied on Sep 18, 2009 at 17:31:13

“Obama has become President of a country where a large percentage of the people come from treasoness ancestry -- yes, the Southern states -- whose behavior has been abominable through this country's history. To think that U.S. citizens would turn traitor to their country all for the sake of keeping their fellow man in chains. So Obama has had the affrontory to rise above all this historical evilness and prove that a black man can be brilliant, smart, patriotic and generous of spirit. When you are evil, it is really difficult to look an honorable man in the face.”

Help, My President Is Trying to Inspire My Children! A Parent's Desperate Series of Tweets

Commented Sep 08, 2009 at 01:00:19 in Entertainment

“Amazing how a TRADITIONAL speech given by numerous sitting Presidents from BOTH parties has suddenly turned into such a controversy. The gist of both Bush & Obama's speeches are the same yet only Obama's has been so vilified? Only Obama's address has parents threatening to keep kids home and likening it to "socialist indoctrination"?
WHY??
While there was a SMALL few on the Dem side that protested Pappy Bush's address in 1991, they didn't act with this vitriol the way the far right is doing. And the right wingers are irrationally VICIOUS about it. This has gone BEYOND civil discourse. Its war.

And because of the likes of Beck & that Florida jacka$$, it has become an insane national movement. Something all the right wingers that hate Obama with a red-hot racist fever, can rally around yet again. They made them BELIEVE that it was yet another of Obama's "conspiracies". Like dogs trained to attack at certain words, all the likes of Beck, Hannity, Coulter, etc have to do is utter certain "attack phrases" and their hair bristles, the teeth bare and they're in full attack mode. Its too late for them. They've drunk the kool-aid, love the taste, keep going back for more.... I

ts up to us, the ones who know we're seeing this from the rational perspective to make dam sure we outnumber them at election time so we can keep this edge...Because God help us if they get back in.”

“This is all about deep seeded racism and it makes me sick to my stomach. I had no idea that all of this would come out when Obama was elected. “I was going to write a 'short' statement on my opinion of what this article is foil to. But this comment says well enough what we should conclude. The only thing I don't agree with is the characterization of this uncivil discourse as war. We've had enough of that and it's still too enticing and associated with mindless buzz words. I will say that there is something which is 'principally' adversarial in what we are seeing. Much like what St. Paul said, if you will admit basic wisdom in the words, that this is not about flesh and blood but of principalities, dominations, powers, etc., things from higher yet accessible planes. Metamorphosis. A significant time of change. And yes, I agree we must stand united and counter this "movement" / blind zombie-like stumbling onrush or succumb to its precipice.”

How the Democrats Should Have Handled the Health Care Debate

Commented Aug 23, 2009 at 11:26:31 in Politics

“Give the guy a break for God's sake!! How can he be such a BIG disappointment when they man has only been in office 8 months?!? He's gotten more done than Bush did during this same time period.

And speaking of Bush, with all the damage that man did to our country and around the world, you honestly think its possible for ANYONE to fix 8yrs in 8 months?!?”

WellTickleMeWillie replied on Aug 23, 2009 at 12:38:42

“Hold on. I am NOT expecting Obama to fix the mess Bush left quickly. What I am addressing though is that Obama and the Dems have campaigned on progressive principles. What we have gotten instead is alot of backtracking and waffling, e.g. a single payer health care advocacy has now eroded into a public option not being essential and we may not have that. They now seem to be pushing co-ops - already a proven failure in the health care industry. Therefore, this is not standing tall for progressive solutions they campaigned on but rather weasling down to the corporate special interests in defining health care without teeth. And it goes on as I said, no prosecution of Bush-Cheney for war crimes, no closing of Gitmo in 12 mos, no ending the Iraq war in 16 mos, etc, Also, while a fine judge, Sonia Sotomeyer is hardly an advocate of progressive values. Obama should have nominated a progressive SC judge to re-balance the SC. No, Obama is a VERY BIG disappointment and getting worse. If he does not revive single payer for example, I will not vote for him in 2012. I would rather sit it out and let a worse ReThug be elected president who will certainly make things even worse than Bush b/c that is the only way it may ever get better in this country. We must hit the very bottom for that to happen. The sooner the better.”

If Beck had gone on TV and called YOU a white-hating racist, YOU'D have legal grounds to sue his a$$ to he11 & back for slander & libel. And you'd win. But because he's talking that way about a man you can't stand, all of a sudden its free speech.

“So in other words, you admit that FOX is slanted in its reporting favoring right-wingers. You think its ok for them to blatantly distort and outright LIE on a daily basis. This IS a station that won a court case saying they are guaranteed the right to LIE on air. Their "fair & balanced" & "we report, you decide" mantra is a joke. And the joke is on anyone that turns to them for impartial reporting.

Oh, and other than Kayne West, I don't recall anyone calling Bush a racist that has a "deep seated hatred" against another race. And when West said it, he was ripped apart for it on FOX for 2wks straight. It was almost funny to hear people at FOX saying they'd never buy his CD's when you know dam well none of them would listen to his music anyway.”
