“I think you are obtuse given your word choices. No one who served in the Armed Forces (especially since9/11) believes what you are saying. Do you really believe what you just said or was it a ham-handed attempt at being snarky?”

brokenleoheart on Aug 23, 2013 at 01:08:43

“no one post 9/11? try again. no one since the korean war should be believing this. so what's wrong with standing up against an abusive government? so what if it's our own?”

“Yes. Circumspect meaning proper channels.”

Scott Winters on Aug 21, 2013 at 17:21:29

“Yeah thats not what former NSA Whistleblowers have to say on the topic. Do you realize there have been three NSA Whistleblowers since 1991? Do you know their names and that they exist. Let alone a national debate? Probably not.

“Scott, I'm aware of the things you mention and I respect your opinions and views. I don't want to sound condescending, but with all due respect to you, I have lived in many countries outside of America (I am not saying that to put myself on a pedestal) what you are saying has merit. I have seen things in and out of our country that I wish our country would do differently. Who hasnt? I just think that manning could have been more circumspect with what he did.”

Scott Winters on Aug 21, 2013 at 13:42:47

“circumspect meaning proper channels? Or less information? I mean no  disrespect either. We are working together to get these issues resolved as countrymen. ”

“I see what you are also. Someone who wants to have a one-sided conversation as a soapbox to bloviate about their agenda and views. The intent is to leave inane comments like the ones you are making on the blog for people to read. Also intended to put words in someone's mouth to give the false appearance of that person's views ( that person being me) or give the appearance of agreement. Twisting my words (or lack if words supporting your slanted opinions or the minions of trolls on these blogs) in a vain attempt to use me as a mouthpiece is useless. Logic or intelligent discourse won't happen in any conversation with you. I'm not making talking points @imaspaceboy. Here's my label --veteran who proudly served. that is who and what I am. I am proud to be an American, proud to have served my country with honor and distinction. Im also proud to say I stepped up to keep our country free for everyone. Keep on trolling and stay warm under the blanket of freedom we provided you son :)”

“Tell me Scott how you made all of those assumptions from my brief comment? I made no comments to justify the assumptions your are making. Tell me how are you making an association between what manning disclosed, my comments and the comments you just made?”

Scott Winters on Aug 21, 2013 at 13:41:32

“Your idea of patriotism was what started this comment. My idea is bringing to light the injustices we are fighting against..

Bradley Manning brought that to light and brought it into the homes of many "Voting" Americans. Opinions are changing. And that was the point.”

“My comment will come up in time. In polite company it is a goo idea to consider who you are addressing your comments to. Especially when the comments imply a response. Unless you just want to make an implication to get a knee-jerk reaction from someone--not me however. If this is your call, ok so it is what it is...what is your point?”

imaspaceboy on Aug 21, 2013 at 12:27:23

“ah... now i can see it.  you were going on about patriotism, when your talking points seem to paint you as a nationalist.  that is all.  exposing war-crimes, and shining more light on an illegal war that has claimed more than one million lives, and has actually made us less safe(from "them" and us) at a great financial cost, is patriotic to me.  this is regardless of the laws, rules, and oaths.”

“Scott, please enlighten me. What am I overlooking?”

Scott Winters on Aug 21, 2013 at 12:04:02

“What you are not looking at is our foreign policy and why it is what it is. Look at the natural resources and the corporate powers that be in the area. Weather its natural gas and its pipelines or Heroin and Lithium mines. There are many corporate interests at play here. Not to mention the MIC and its need to build more Military Vehicles, Planes, Guns and the likes. The world is on to this. The Nationalism we see in our "Corporate" owned media is no longer relevant and the damage is done. Videos like Collateral Murder and the Winter Soldier Project (new version) are well known through out the world. Our foreign policy needs drastic changes, and speaking out about our Imperialistic and Corporate gains around the world is the ONLY thing that is going to save this country from the blowback from around the world. Period. The true patriot is looking out for the interests of this country, and not planning our trips to live in other parts of the world. This is our home and we ant it right with the world. Period.”

“He is not a "patriot" patriots don't betray their country by giving its secrets to their enemy. Patriots consider their word to be their bond (that would be the oath he freely took when he voluntarily joined the Army. There were other avenues he could have used instead of using sensationalism for his personal gain (read:satisfaction). NO he does NOT deserve a pardon. He is a soldier in the Army. For the trolls out there, Assange isn't wearing a military uniform and neither was Snowden --Snowden DID however take an oath for his NSA job. They did make an example of his as they should have. Unfortunately the dishonorable discharge will not affect him since he will make money from his memoirs, speaking engagements, and media appearances. There seems to be an appetite for true crime committed by traitors. I pray that there is some patriotism left in our country where he won't be a smug offensive profiteer.”

brokenleoheart on Aug 21, 2013 at 10:54:59

“sometimes you just have to do what is morally right. i can argue for the same for nazi soldiers, so do you think it's right and okey for them to kill millions of people and not stand up against its own army and commander, just cause they are in the army? please.”

Scott Winters on Aug 21, 2013 at 10:53:44
