“Ok, why would this administration pursue an expensive government run health care bill in the midst of the deepest recession since the GreatDepression?
You'd think job creation would be high on their list.
Nope. It's more important to get citizens dependent on an unsustainable government health care program instead of address the most important issue facing millions of Americans.
Oops.”

“Because genius, the current state of health care (rising costs, financial ruin due to enormous medical bills, etc) is a major contributor to the economic situation and left unchecked will cause even more devastation to the US economy. But as long as the health insurers keep gouging the American public, misleading the gullible teabagging sheep and lining the pockets of politicians, true substantive reform will be next to impossible.”
masher replied on Nov 24, 2009 at 02:49:44
“Because its more of a "corporate welfare" bill than a health care bill. If Obama wanted health care reform and bipartisanship, he would have started with one off bills that tackle the real problems like: ending the monopoly that health insurance corporations enjoy. Making health insurance corporations play by the rules would have been an easy sell to the American people.
Then a bill to end the practice of dropping coverage when someone is sick.
A series of things like that. Probably would have ended the health insurance industry really.
And that's the problem. Obama can't stand the idea of a corporation failing, even if its business model is corrupt, unjust, and inefficient.
Its the same thing with Wall Street. Obama can't stand the idea of banks, particularly big banks, failing.
Obama only cares about the super rich. That's why Obama wants an expensive health care bill. And BTW, its not government run. Its all corporate run.”

“You see flossy, when people lose their job, they lose their medical coverage, and it then costs much more than they can afford through COBRA, because they don't have a job, get it? So medical benefits are important, and in fact it's one main reason why most people want to work, so they are covered. Now I find it most amusing how republicans are changing their argument against health care as it will distract from job creation. But actually, if health care is more affordable then businesses can provide it along with new jobs. They go hand in hand.”
