“Most people wake before they actually open their eyes so the riddle as written does make sense gramatically.”

“Okay let's say it does make sense even though everything is written in present tense. How do you know it is your parents if your eyes are not already open. Which would imply your eyes were already open and thus it should be written in past tense.”

“The student is a minor in the teachers class so excusing the teacher's bad judgement because the child "volunteered" doesn't make legal or practical sense. Kudos to the teacher for trying to mix things up, but as an adult he's supposed to think ahead to the possible negative consequences of his behavior--like injuring a student. He could have used a non-living target or let the kids do the lassoing (of a non-living object--not each other).”

“Walker survived but the legislature lost Republican seats. When the Unions go so will livable wages for those workers. Most corporations will not provide a decent wage out of the goodness of their hearts. The power of the union is what keeps the power of the corporation in check. Once that balance is gone, you will see blue collar workers falling out of the middle class, because it was the power of collective bargaining that created the opportunity for them to climb into the middle class to begin with. Apparently many in this nation have forgotten our history. Thus it's beginning to look like we're doomed to repeat it, as we cede more and more power and control to corporate interests.”

“Interesting that the offense was directed at the president, but the apology was apparently directed toward Thompson's father. As in "Sorry I messed up, Dad". This makes it clear that Thompson is not sorry for what he said, rather he is sorry for causing has dad a problem. Someone should tell Tommy and his son that the apology is supposed to go to the person you insulted or offended. Clueless”

“The only difference is that the conference you link to explicitly states "This popular event is for anyone serving God in the church, from pastor to usher" whereas the conference referenced in the article explicitly states that only white Christians may attend. There's also no indication that the conference you link to incorporates a message of black supremacy while the conference referenced in the article specifically incorporates messages of white supremacy into their message.

Perhaps you should exercise a little critical reading and thinking before commenting. There are clear differences that are not at all difficult to see.”

“In 2008 when Obama said as president he would support going into Pakistan to capture or kill members of Al Qaeda, he took a ton of flack for it from Clinton during the primaries as well as from McCain during the general campaign. They both pointed to this as an indicator of him being "naive" and unprepared and that he lacked understanding of the complicated arena of foreign relations. Remember the Who Do You Want Answering the Phone at 3 am. ads run by Clinton and how McCain tried to pick up on that argument? This ad is an answer to that criticism and a challenge to the assumption that a Dem will wuss out when confronted with these kinds of issues. I don't think the ad is the President bragging about killing Bin Laden rather it is the President offering an example of him having the courage of his convictions and a big hairy set of stainless steel cajones. And given that Mitt Romney said he didn't support this sort of action, I think it's reasonable for the ad to argue that Romney wouldnt have made the same decision. The Bin Laden killing wasn't a fluke or an opportunity that fell into our laps. It was an intentionally planned mission. And Romney wouldn't have been planning any such mission based upon his words. What's unfair about pointing this out?”

“Interesting how you say the story hasn't been covered by then link to an abcnews story. I also recall hearing of this on the news and I live in California. I also find it interesting that no one is speculating about what this college student might have been wearing or doing that would cause these men to target him. Nice thing about being a white male victim is you just get to be the victim. Unlike women, homosexuals and minorities, you (or your family if you're dead) don't have to worry about defending what you were wearing or doing that attracted the attention of your murderer. No one will ask if this victim was wearing a hoodie, or dressed to provocatievly, or making a pass at his murderers, or engaged in drug related behavior.”

“So it's okay because a black person suggested it? That relieves the white members of the fraternity from using their good judgement? I think not. And by the way, being a minority doesn't mean you're not a racist or that you don't engage in behavior that will be seen by others as racist. There is a great deal of diversity covered by the term minority. The fact that the young woman who left the noose is a minority means nothing. It was a racist act, and anyone giving it a bit of forethought would understand that it would cause distress to the black students on campus given the history of lynching in this country. I don't know what was in the girls heart--whether she thought it was funny, or would be cool, or would serve as an expression of anger, or was an intentionally racist act. But really, whatever her motivation, the act was wrong and cruel and only an idiot would think that it was okay because a minority did it.”

And there's no indication that Zimmerman would have had access to any of the information conservatives are now using to smear Trayvon. That makes that information immaterial.”

“You neglect to mention that the expert who used the biometrics program is a recognized expert in the field and a certified expert witness for the courts. Do you really think he'd compromise his reputation casually? Your use of quotation marks reveals your bias. You went to the original article hoping looking for a way to dismiss these expert opinions and you ignored all the details about the experts credentials and then decided to base your criticism on the cost of the software. 5k for software sounds like a professional level program to me. For all you know that's the same program the FBI uses. You're picking and choosing information to reinforce your view. That doesn't add to the debate”

“Perhaps he had faith in the intelligence of the American people to see through a lie when they saw it. But since Republicans and Tea Partiers proved unable to move beyond their irrational fears and face reality, he was forced to admit that a large portion of them are easily influenced idiots. He was undoubtedly in denial about just how stupid and out of touch with reality that segment of the American population could be. But your'e right, as a successful African American he should have expected that he would be required to meet a higher standard. Perhaps he was dooped by all the talk of a post-racial America that swirled around after his election, and allowed himself to hope that he would be judged by the same standard as those who've gone before him. It's hard to let go of that kind of hope, but this whole episode has done just that for many of us--crushed hope.”
