“Wow!- that is the oath by LAW!--and contrary to the Constitution they are promising to uphold which unequivocally states in Article VI-
"The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."

--the oath which is not in the constitution but is apparently prescribed by law passed by these hypocrites-in including the phrase "So help me god" in the oath seems to exclude any non-theists and becomes a religious test - in direct violation of the Constitution.”

“All this talk about a "health care crisis" and statistics showing that we get "worse" outcomes even though we spend more money is very very misleading. Heath care is a lot of things- not a monolith. Some of it is incredibly wasteful- other aspects are the envy of the world- and should be. We do spend more for cancer care than those other countries and we cure more of our cancer patients and our uncured patients live longer. The current approach towards health care reform would be similar to a claim that we can need to change the way we treat all cancers with some new single type of approach...cancer is not one disease - it is many different diseases requiring different approaches. Same goes for health care- Universal preventive and health care maintenence may be feasible and worthy of our common shared values. Universal access expensive therapies to extend life for 2 weeks or 2 months or that may not have any proof of their benefit but are routinely done anyway--this may not be something we all agree upon.”

bluevase replied on Jun 29, 2009 at 17:48:34

“YOu are absolutely wrong about cancer statistics. USA has a LOWER survival rate than any othr industrialized nation. No, cancer patients do NOT live longer in the USA -- cancer patients die sooner. I know all about this subject. I've researched it for years. You have a better chance of surving cancer in Columbia, South America, than you do in the USA.

And by the way, my insurance company would not pay for my chemotherapy. They called it "specialized medicine." I had to go to Canada for the treatment that saved my life.”

“Drug laws are useless and impossible to enforce.
Where in the US can you be assured to find drugs?
Inside prisons-within a small confined space where theoretically there is total control of what goes in and what goes on there. If we cannot control it in such a setting attempting to do so in our huge country is futility, plain and simple.
What would happen if they actually stopped this futile exercise and redirected the money and effort to stopping thieves and murderers and acting only on behaviors where people harm those other than themselves?
Sounds like real liberty to me.”
