“The problem is the way that the Electoral College is set up. Any Presidential candidate has to garner over 50% of the electoral vote in order to win, otherwise it gets thrown to the House of Representatives.

Third party candidates can and do win in congressional elections, though.”

Yes, I think it os all related. Most want easy, simple, dumb downed. Vicki was not a creator of this dumbed down, me first culture, she was a victim of it. And one sees the wreckage it leaves in its wake. One must always do the right thing, One must rise to the challenges in life...our men need to rise to the challenge of overcoming pathetic sexual impulses and stand for their family. When one does the right thing, while there might be some sacrifice involved, it is the right kind. When one rises above impulses and challenges and does the right thing, one's family is NOT the sacrifice to serve one's own needs. This is what makes us human and sets up apart from other animals. There are such joys to be gained from living one's lifetime with a partner. My parent's divorced friends are stuggling, with life, bills, relationships. We were not designed to chuck people aside when it suits us. The damage it leaves in its wake if sorrowful.”

“Perhaps you have failed to notice that most of Europe has a negative population growth..yes, they do. Check it out. That means they cannot replace their current population. At an alarming rate I might add. It is a critical situation in Europe as they will not have any way of supporting their elderly, their tax base in shrinking, etc. This includes many countries around the globe. Secondly, I can list many, many happily married couples. My parents just celebrated their 43 wedding anniversary. I have celebrated our 14th. Nothing compared to 43 but I am a bit younger. And what men and women need are more examples of good marriages, support and encouragement from family and friends to create a committed, loving family. Not some man who does not engage his brain or overcome his natural impulses and says, well, everyone else is doing it. Again, bit high school, don't you think. Have we dumbed ourselves down that much that we say we cannot be in a long lasting relationship? Marriage does not work? We need something easier? Kind of like mothering.."that is soooo hard, gee, get a nanny or put them in daycare. That way one only has to parent them on evenings and weekends"”

“So very true. It would appear there are many responsible individuals commenting on this post such as yourself, ggfree, and advocate. It's always the responsible ones who are the best at pointing out the fouls of the irresponsible. It is much more responsible of the responsible to point out the flaws of the irresponsible and tell them they should be more responsible, like them, the responsible ones, like you, ggfree, and advocate. Instead of burdening themselves with all that responsibility that comes with dealing with the irresponsible, the responsible simply point out to the irresponsible, "hey, you shouldn't do that." I'm being sarcastic. Is there anything in your life, ggfree, that someone could be critical over? Excusing behavior is much different than comprehending behavior. If you feel you are more responsible than the people you are co-signing with advocate to criticize, than you may be so responsible, just as a human being, to burden yourself with some those irresponsible people's responsibilities. Just a thought.”

“Buddha, Jesus, Ghandi, MLK, Chavez, JFK, RFK and Reagan (yuk) were all cekebrities in there own right. The difference is that the media has become so expansive and the news cycle is literally non-stop. Not to mention President Obama's administration is an anomaly widely regarded as being a near impossibility. People are amazed every time he does something because this is literally a first for the world. He's not just our President, he's the most powerful man and leader of the free world. And that is lost on no one.”

Presidents are famous, they're photographed and followed. They -are- celebrities.

Personally, I'd rather see people fascinated by a celebrity who is smart and hard-working and trying to solve the most important problems of our time, than some fantasy movie star and who he's dating.

Celebrity's not bad. And of course its wonderful for many of us to see our president and feel proud and happy instead of....angry, outraged and embarrassed.

I think Obama's popularity is -only- a positive.”
