Michael Vick Wins Courage Award

Michael Vick Wins Courage Award

“Amen & Amen. I mean ... these are dogs -- could we say the same for people who hurt people -- DWI cases, people who commit incest, people who abuse children, the list goes on ... I have truly come to dislike PETA!”

MyVesta replied on Dec 24, 2009 at 00:15:07

“You're right. We should have absolutely no moral baseline. If somebody kills a human being vis-a-vis drunk driving, we should actively encourage a renowned thug, such as Vick, to enact revenge on a dog. That way, things are sort of evened out morally.

Like wise, if somebody abuses a child, we should encourage somebody else to commit incest against their own child.

We can interchange all manner of criminality to ensure that two wrongs make a right.

Right?”

nananance replied on Dec 23, 2009 at 22:38:56

“Even if you don't care about dogs, studies show people guilty of animal cruelty are also far more likely to abuse their spouses and children.
Animal abuse is a way for people to feel powerful through torturing a victim that can't defend itself, just like rape, domestic violence or child abuse. Many serial killers also started out by harming animals.
If you do something about people who hurt animals, you may stop them before they do the same to other people

“You are not the only one that dislikes PETA. My daughter's friend was killed by a driver a couple of years ago. His brother lost a leg, and is in danger of losing his other leg. His sister suffered a broken back. At the funeral, the youngest brother was in a wheelchair. After the accident, the driver ran up to the mother and began to scream at her while her husband searched the field for his children. All of the children wore seatbelts, but the hit from the other truck was so hard, they were all thrown from the car. The driver was drunk. His sentence? A year in jail with 10 years probation and a $2,000 fine. Initially it was a few months, but after a public outcry, he was resentenced to a year. HE deserves to pay for the rest of his life for what he did to that beautiful family. I'm sorry if I cannot muster up as much compassion for a dog as a living, breathing human who had so much to offer the world, but was murdered.”

Mothers and Sons: How Close Is Too Close?

“A mother can be a powerful force in emotional safety, comfort, nurturing and character. Often, mother's find themselves raising children on their own -- doing the best they can. My son is 11 and gave me a birthday card not too long ago - he wrote "I love you more than anything else in the world". If I can teach him how to love gently, purposefully and divinely -- then I have done my job.

A father is just as powerful a force in the live of a child - only a man can teach a boy to be a man. He teaches a boy to take a tougher stance when the going gets tough. He teaches gentleness behind all things tough.

Someone once said: "a boy who grows up without a father grows with a hole in his soul in the shape of his father".”

hulagirrrl replied on Nov 12, 2009 at 15:40:08

“I don't know if that is really true, the part about the boy who is growing up without a father and the hole in his soul.
The previous generation had many fathers die in wars, and boys had to grow up without, did all of these boys have a hole in their soul? No. I believe it is a generational thing. Watching young parents these days, men seem to be confused of their role, and that is also society doing that. A boy can have role models without having a father or a boy scout leader.
I happened to have a discussion with a person who is a senior leader in the military, and we talked about the new kids coming into the service. They come from all walks of life, and it seems a lot of them are just lacking basic common sense and social skills.
If you read biographies of great men in history, there are actually many who did not have a father present, or if they had a father he was not involved in "rearing" the child, and they turned out alright. It is the love of a home and committed, responsible parenting and the society in general that shape our boys.”

Well, whoever said that was either projecting their own personal wounds onto others or making a totally indefensible generalisation.”

“Kelly, sadly - you are right. As a real estate broker (especially during a tough housing ecomony) I do see some behaviors that make me shudder. If he was uncomfortable with the situation, he should have asked his Broker to get involved or terminated the relationship. You also make a great point about 'will he betray confidential information'. You'd be amazed as to how often one transaction crosses paths with another related cleint, friend, agent, property, etc.. Rule # 1, respect your Clients - they are hiring you to wholely represent their best interest.”

Libyans Picked the Wrong New York City Realtor to Try to Dupe

Commented Sep 21, 2009 at 01:12:55 in New York

“At the risk of being politically incorrect - may I suggest that a Realtor worth his/her salt would have met such a potentially high-end client for an initial consultation. At that point, if the Realtor had concerns, he had the opportunity to not sign a representation agreement. I presume there was an agreement (implicit or tacit) because the word Client is used. This telephoning, cat-and-mouse game sounds very strange -- at least, if you are a professional real estate agent.

There's a code of conduct that a Realtor is supposed to adhere to -- and revealing confidences (regardless of whether you agree with the politics of the client) is very troubling. If this Realtor suspected some law was being broken, certainly he could have notified the authorities through his Broker. If he disagreed with the politics of this Client, he could have severed his professional relationship with this client. However, notifying the media of one-upping a Client is never acceptable.

Whether you are a rookie or a seasoned real estate expert, the expectations remain the same. Who cares about his degrees -- is he a politician or someone who serves the real estate needs of his community (mind you, not for free).

Sure, this Realtor thumbing his nose at these Libyan clients is the popular thing to do. But ... who's next?”

KellyKay replied on Sep 21, 2009 at 07:51:33

“You do make some great points and like many posters, I was not impressed with this man's credentials or behavior. But once in a while the little kid comes out in most of us and I bet he gets more referals from his actions than people who would wonder 'will he betray confidential information?'”
