“You'd be surprised at how many of us agree with you. Fathers and mothers of young children should not be sent away to a war zone, period.”

“So, considering the fact that men and women are serving together, and that sex will happen no matter what, even among married soldiers with wives at home, and even without the consent of the woman in many cases, why aren't soldiers of both sexes rendered sterile (implants will do it) for the duration of their contract? Why, because the powers-that-be expect soldiers to abstain, of course, just as teens are expected to abstain. . . ergo, no need for contraceptives, not even the morning-after pill.
Rape is the only exception, of course. . . native women are fair game. . . as are their own sisters-at-arms.”

Feminomics: Red v. Blue Family Paradigms

“No, rightwing, not so well said! There was no mention in the article of any such thing as specific locations of the blue and/or red anything, other than just family systems, either red or blue, with blue representing better educated and more liberal (women) families, and red representing regressive religious families.
You guys will latch on to anything in your zealous pursuit of debunking logic and practicality!
Grow up!”

“Where is the "logic" you refer to. What is the evidence that "blue" is better? Where is the proof of the magical "areas of the country that have most enthusiastically embraced the new 'blue' model of family life" to which the article attributes its conclusion? Since more than half the poor, black families in America live in these areas - and have for 40 years now - why are the problems mentioned in the article actually worse in these areas?”

“I'll tell you what, donnyquixote: when all girls have had years or training at a neighborhood dojo and are capable of repelling all sexual attacks against their person, come and talk to me about the issue of whether or not women are so devoid of self control that they can't engage in sexual activity responsibly, at our discretion and with the aid of contraception to avoid becoming pregnant, and why we need abortion as a contraceptive option of last resort.”

You don't want to be blamed, I gather, but then go out of your way to explain all about the biological imperative of aggressiveness. . . and I take it that since it has "existed since before humanity came along" it needs no change. . .”

Breakthrough: Health Care Talks Advance In Senate

“I asked myself the same question and then realized that by expanding eligibility to Medicaid by including those below the 150% poverty line, many more people who are not yet old enough to qualify for Medicaire will gain access, as will lowering the eligibility age for qualifying for Medicare. There's more of us in that category than one might think, including students, low wage earners, young 'uns not yet commited to a career, self-employed people, single moms, soldiers, even teachers, believe it or not. . .
I wasn't expecting this approach, but it seems workable, and I hope some version of it passes. Also, kudos to Sen. Reid for his quasi-stern rebuke, may it have done some good!
Cheers, Hippy Nana”

Maybe you (Rep. Blumenauer) can get a petition going; I'll be the first on board with my signature, and so will my family and friends.”

I contend that it is not a person until it is wanted. New thought. Weird, isn't it?”
