UK To Withdraw From Afghanistan's Helmand Province

Commented Jul 7, 2010 at 23:26:26 in World

“Quick clarification - British troops aren't withdrawing from Helmand province altogether, only from Sangin district, one of the most violent areas in Helmand. They are regrouping in central Helmand.”

“Thank you, Doug! They are regrouping. They have NOT failed and people who make such statements have no knowledge of what they speak!”

Why My Friend Got Arrested During the G20 Summit

Commented Jul 4, 2010 at 02:17:30 in World

“A couple of quick updates on this story: first, I've learned that several civil liberties monitors were arrested and detained over the weekend of the protest - I'm sure their stories will come out over the next few days.

Second, many detainees are posting their own accounts of last weekend online - this one below is likely the most detailed one that has come out so far:

Third, the Canadian government has yet to call a public inquiry into last weekend's mass arrests, though public support for such an inquiry seems to be growing quickly.”

“Have you read this? I believe you should contact this scientist who was arrested during the G20 (without cause) and help spread his story far and wide. It is factual, detailed and may unfortunately be prediictive of Canada's future.
